Tincknells serves customers across Somerset, Wiltshire, Dorset, Avon and south Gloucestershire. It’s already a well-known name in the South West, with a great reputation for integrity and customer service. Company director Rob Ormond and heating services manager Richard Beck both emphasise that Tincknells is a ‘modest’ company, concerned more with providing a good service than making a fuss about it. But its recent win could change all that.

Tincknell Heating Services is one wing of the long-established fuel business, Tincknell Fuels. ‘It’s a win for the industry,’ said Rob Ormond. ‘The fuel industry, which we’re part of, doesn’t always get the best press, but this is a really positive step.’

We arrived at our holiday home in Upottery, Devon on 21st December to find that the heating wasn’t working properly. We reported it to our caretakers and Bob from Tincknell Fuels came out the next day. He soon found out what the problem was but the parts had to be ordered and hopefully fitted before Christmas. He also showed us a way we could get the heating going manually to get us through. He came back on Christmas Eve and fitted the part. I found Tincknell Fuels to be very helpful and professional and a special mention for Bob - friendly, courteous and got us warm for Christmas. I would recommend this company to anyone.

This firm has been a great help over many years but particularly during the last 2.5 years when my husband has been disabled and housebound. Both he and I are in our very late eighties and their responses have always been prompt and helpful. To use an old phase they are the best of British!

The engineer came almost straight away when our heating would not come on. The receptionist I spoke to was very helpful and understanding and we were kept fully informed of timings etc. The job was completed expertly and the problem discussed fully.

Fantastic response to call out for overheating system

We cannot praise the team at Tincknells enough for their professional friendly and prompt actions experienced when our boiler started to overheat the house. I live with my mother who is in her 80's who has medical issues, therefore we keep the temperature to 21, however, even she was feeling the heat at a balmy 26. I reported the fault in the morning and was told someone would be out but priority would go to those without heating so may not be today. Later in the afternoon we had a call and some came out and fixed the fault. The fault was identified and faulty valve replaced there was no mess and control panel was explained we were not confident with the controls. Thank you to the office staff and maintenance Engineer all of whom were polite and professional at all times

I just want to give a great big shout out for Tincknell Heating! Our oil fired combi boiler developed a noticeable leak yesterday evening. We turned it off and left it until this morning to contact for repair, to make it easier and cheaper for all concerned. We can cope without these modern day luxuries... for a while. Tincknell's was contacted via our landlords this morning at about 9:30am and the guys were out within 2-3 hours. It's now totally fixed and we have the luxury of hot water once more. Thank you to all involved. Great service!

The guys at Tincknells Heating have carried out extensive works at our property and during the whole process they were punctual, friendly, polite, knowledgeable and extremely efficient. We have never experienced the level of professionalism and the level of after care that we have received from these guys and we can honestly say that they went above and beyond what we could have ever had expected from a heating company. They have set the bar very high for other trades and we would not even consider using any one else, when you have experienced the best, you tend to stick with them. We are extremely grateful for everything that Tincknells have done for us. We cannot recommend them enough!

We've used Tincknell Heating many times since we moved into our property 5 years ago. They replaced a hideous large rusty metal oil tank for us when we first moved in, and they have always provided an excellent and trustworthy service in keeping our aged old boiler serviced, repaired and limping along each year. This year, we were finally in a position to be able to purchase a new boiler. Engineer Keith, came out to quote; very knowledgeable and provided lots of information and answered our questions. There was no pressure put on by Tincknells in chasing us to accept their quote, once submitted. Keith and Liam arrived promptly at the date and time agreed, to remove our old boiler and fit the new one; they were exceptionally tidy and polite, and worked hard ensuring that we wouldn't be without a functioning boiler by the end of the first day. We're thrilled with our new boiler; much quieter than our old one, much less smellier and much more energy efficient. (and a bonus for our 2 rottweilers was having dog-friendly engineers!) We also developed an oil leak after the installation, which was dealt with incredibly swiftly - an engineer at the door within 10 minutes of me calling! It really is good old-fashioned customer service from Tincknells; and what a blessing to be given a beautiful arrangement of flowers at the end of the boiler installation Great service from Tincknells; wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others!

Tincknell Heating installed a new external oil boiler, removed the old boiler and replaced 16 radiators for us. We chose Tincknell Heating because they had a large team to call on and the quality of their brand and work looked clean and efficient. it prooved to be a good decision as they sent an experienced and friendly team who got the work done in the time they quoted and to a high standard. They were confident with their pricing but were also willing to adjust it when we reduced the scope of the job and tested some unknowns once onsite. We would recomend them to others as a quality supplier.

This service was completed in the latter stage of Covid Lockdown but in accordance with a Safety Protocol prepared by Tincknells and agreed with me in advance. The engineer arrived on time and adhered to the guidance in the Protocol throughout. Once he'd completed the service he left me a Service Report Sheet & verbally explained what he'd done. Despite the Covid strictures & unseasonally wet weather he conducted himself in a professional, respectful but nevertheless cheerful and friendly manner and left the premises as tidy as he found them.

Good job installing new oil tank

The installation was carried out exactly as stated on the original plan, including transferring the oil from the old tank and removing that tank for recycling. There was no mess, no oil spillage and instructions were left both in paper form, and verbally. Thank you, Mike and Gary, we are both very pleased with the work done And the bunch of flowers on completion was a very nice touch. Highly recommended!

The boiler stopped working (16 yrs old). Called Tincknells Heating who service our boiler for an emergency visit. The engineer, Keith, attended and fitted a new part. Service was due soon and to keep an eye on it. It did not last that long. Keith did a thorough service. He explained (not easy with COVID restrictions) what the problems were. He was very in tune the boiler noises and when it was going wrong. New parts would be required and after contact with his office, had prices available within minutes. Too much for an old boiler, so we asked about a new one. Nick, in the office, had costs ready in no time, sending me all the information by email. Decided to go ahead and he set it in motion. Arranged a fitting date for 29th December. Two fitters arrived promptly and set to work immediately. Covered the floor and stair carpet to keep it clean. In no time, the old boiler was out. They worked solidly and had the new boiler working by the end of the day, running cleaner through the system overnight. The next day, they arrived promptly, drained the system to remove the cleaner, before refilling and checking. They were excellent at explaining the workings of the new boiler and the thermostat. New pipework was excellent. Clean, tidy workers. Very professional, very cheerful. Nick offered several ways to pay and we opted for finance, which he helped set up. Very efficient. A trusted local firm which I will continue to use. Well done.

Tincknell Heating, with whom I have a 'Breakdown Plan', have carried out services and repairs on my boiler and central heating for many years to the highest of standards. In early May I had a problem which I reported. An engineer arrived the same day, inspected the system, diagnosed the problem and identified the need for a replacement actuator. The following day another engineer arrived, fitted the part and inspected the system which then revealed a quite separate issue that required a replacement pump that was ordered immediately from the supplier. Although it took several days to arrive at Tincknells this was not an inconvenience and on 9th May an engineer and then an electrician attended, fitted the new part and ensured our system was working faultlessly. Once again Tincknell Heating engineers, electricians and clerical staff demonstrated that, at all levels, they are thoroughly professional, efficient and reliable and that they are totally committed to customer care and speed of action. In short they are a credit to a company that provides such a reliable service – this I find to be so reassuring in an age where such reliability is often in short supply. I have no hesitation therefore in recommending this company to others who may have similar requirements.

I have used Tincknell's to service my boiler for the last 50 years and never had cause for doubt about the quality of the work. Our current engineer is very friendly and leaves the work area clean. This was a routine service with no unexpected costs. If something goes wrong and a repair is needed, I know Tincknell's will do their utmost to fix it promptly.
