Tincknells serves customers across Somerset, Wiltshire, Dorset, Avon and south Gloucestershire. It’s already a well-known name in the South West, with a great reputation for integrity and customer service. Company director Rob Ormond and heating services manager Richard Beck both emphasise that Tincknells is a ‘modest’ company, concerned more with providing a good service than making a fuss about it. But its recent win could change all that.

As usual, first-rate service from Tincknell. I rang to report the boiler breakdown at 8.30am & the engineeer arrived equipped with a suitable spare part about 2pm. Your engineer was outstandingly helpful & efficient, put in a new motor & had the boiler up & running in about half an hour.

Very professional service from initial quote through to installation

Initially I required somebody to come around and discuss options to decommission a very old and hugely inefficient Stanley range and not only install a new boiler but consider the best location for the new installation. From the initial visit from Tincknell's I was very impressed with professionalism from the office staff through to engineers visit. Their covid procedures were excellent too, not only ensuring my safety but also their staff. During the first visit I felt what I was looking for was completely understood and the options were clearly explained to me. Having accepted the quotation the option of dates was clearly explained and those dates remained on track. As for the installation it was clear the installers Jamie & Lee not only knew what they were doing but took pride in their work too. Any questions I had were clearly explained and at the end of the installation the user controls of the system were clearly explained. Even though the installation required changes to water pipes, oil feed and electricity and the drilling through 2' thick walls everything was left spotless. I would not hesitate to recommend Tincknell's for the installation and would not find any fault with any aspect of the installation.

New Hot Water Cylinder

Work involved the removal of old heat storage cylinder and installation of an unvented cylinder. The old cylinder was approx. 25years old and the installation involved a considerable amount of new piping. The work was done on time and to the agreed cost. The installation team worked as a very effective team and clearly very knowledgable. Clear explanations given at the end of the installation to ensure full understanding of how the system worked.

Tincknell Heating are always very helpful. Allowing me my choice of service engineer. Olly Smart is very pleasant and efficient. He wasted no time and masked up even though I said he could take his mask of if he wished. I would stay a distance He checked all my radiators as I can no longer bleed them. (don't have the strength in my fingers!) I find their charges very fair. They are the best service engineers I've ever had. My daughter also finds this and always has them to deal with her Aga and oil fired boiler. The staff on the phone are always pleasant and helpful. Thank you, Tincknells!

Repair fault - Stuck valve which prevented water circulation

We have been with Tinknell since shortly after we moved to Dorset, ie: around 40+ years (we are in our 80's) and have always admired and been grateful for the staff, always polite and efficient and understanding and for the speedy service provided which in this case which was particulally gratifying. A second visit was speedily organised following a first and involved Liam and his associate and the problem - a stuck valve - quickly identified and corrected. The whole system was checked and was, and is currently, working well as it had been previously. The problem could not have been dealt with more effectively and speedily with humour, enthusiasm, and friendliness. Liam and we had met on a previous visit some time ago and it was like old friends meeting up. We remembered each other with pleasure... The whole organisation is a great example of how a service should be and we are so grateful. We feel valued which is a great feeling. Thank you to everyone...receptionists, organisers and engineers/electricians...

My oil AGA cooker was losing heat rapidly and was due a service. I phoned Tincknell and Pat in the office was very helpful, noting that Rob our normal engineer was working that day at a nearby property. He rang me back and said he could fit me in that afternoon. Always cheerful, he gets on with sorting out the problem and leaves no mess when he leaves. While most appointments are not always quite as quick as this one, they have invariably provided me with a reasonably fast turn around for boiler and AGA service for over 25 years.

Keith and Liam were exceptionally able and communicative in very trying circumstances. They fitted an entire gas system and boiler into an old cottage which still retained the original lead pipes throughout. They were careful to move all furniture and precious items in two bedrooms, traced the pipes under floorboards, and replaced them, leaving the rooms almost as they found them. Our boiler was over 25 years old and has been replaced by an efficient and easily workable system which we will greatly appreciate in years to come. I have nothing but admiration for their skill and the care which they took, and would not hesitate to use their company again.

Great support with solving a boiler fuel leak inside our kitchen!

A call back from Tincknells Thursday morning after our worried message the night before, led to one of their Engineers arriving before 10am, the same day. Fausto then assessed what the issue was, a pinhole leak on the internal fuel feed pipe. He carefully removed the failed pipe, made-up a like for like new replacement, re-fitted everything, then after carefully testing the final fitment, all was resolved. So, after no more than an hour, the leak was dealt with. What a professional task, carried-out by Fausto, a likeable, genuinely concerned person, who gave us considerable confidence in a job well done. A real credit to Tincknells. Brilliant team attitude. 👏 Still re-tiling and some decorating to resolve, but that will happen. Thanks from the Newton’s. 👍😎

I just want to give a great big shout out for Tincknell Heating! Our oil fired combi boiler developed a noticeable leak yesterday evening. We turned it off and left it until this morning to contact for repair, to make it easier and cheaper for all concerned. We can cope without these modern day luxuries... for a while. Tincknell's was contacted via our landlords this morning at about 9:30am and the guys were out within 2-3 hours. It's now totally fixed and we have the luxury of hot water once more. Thank you to all involved. Great service!

Replacement Oil Tank and relocation of Boiler

We required a new Oil Tank as the old tank was showing signs of splitting. At the same time we took the opportunity to move the location of our existing boiler and fit a new oil line. We contacted 5 tradespersons to quote for the works. Tincknell Fuels provided the most efficient service of all the tradespersons from start to finish. The initial contact with the Office was handled very professionally with immediate email responses and confirmations of site appointments. Bearing in mind that this was during the covid pandemic! From that initial contact, the site visits were carried out well and we were informed of our options. The quotations that followed were clear and concise and as it happens also very competitive. The works were carried out in 2 tranches and again because of covid moved at my request with no hesitation. On the dates in question, the workmen turned up on time and completed the works as stated in the timescale mentioned with the minimum disruption. The follow up calls were very kind and flowers received by my wife were a lovely touch. I have never written a review before but I have no doubt in thoroughly recommending Tincknell Fuels for the outstanding service and customer support throughout what is a daunting process. Our thanks goes to the whole team for their great service.

My oil tank developed a crack and needed replacing. New regulations meant that the tank needed to be re-sited further from the garage and my fence. I was very happy with the work. They arrived at 9.30 am and were finished at around 4.00 pm. They have always been a satisfactory company to deal with over the past 16 years.

Excellent right through from survey of works required to installation and commissioning. Old oil fired internally located boiler was removed with careful consideration for making good afterwards. External new boiler fitted and system converted from natural head to pressurised with a full system flush included. Excellent specification of works and plan for scheduling the right labour for the job. Very pleased with the on-site management during the entire process and efficient office support. The improvements in our heating & hot water efficiency and effectiveness have made the whole job well worthwhile.

The installation was carried out exactly as stated on the original plan, including transferring the oil from the old tank and removing that tank for recycling. There was no mess, no oil spillage and instructions were left both in paper form, and verbally. This was a fairly complex job replacing an old oil fired boiler with modern Worcester Greenstar boiler. Despite having to work under Covid restrictions and at a busy operational time, Tincknell team worked very efficiently at both problem solving in my system and installation of the new boiler. This was an annual service conducted on my central heating boiler. I found the engineer who did this service extremely thorough and very competent . A credit to their profession

After moving into our new home in early January, we discovered an existing issue with our oil tank which prevented oil delivery. The response to our issue from Tincknells was nothing short of incredible. The support, communication, level of service and general guidance through being new to oil was second to none and without their help and support the initial stress and challenge would of felt much worse. They supported our resolution quickly, pulling out all the stops to support me and my family for which I'm massively grateful and appreciative. The team from Nick and Neil, the installers and the drivers have been 1st class throughout and an absolute to credit to their business. I'll be using Nick, Neil and the team ongoing now and would recommend them without hesitation.

When it became evident that the old boiler was on its last legs Tincknells organised a replacement incredibly quickly. Everyone we dealt with was very friendly and helpful, and the work was done efficiently and unobtrusively. The two people who installed the boiler gave the impression that nothing was too much trouble and they left everything spotless. We would definitely recommend them.

New Boiler

The boiler stopped working (16 yrs old). Called Tincknells Heating who service our boiler for an emergency visit. The engineer, Keith, attended and fitted a new part. Service was due soon and to keep an eye on it. It did not last that long. Keith did a thorough service. He explained (not easy with COVID restrictions) what the problems were. He was very in tune the boiler noises and when it was going wrong. New parts would be required and after contact with his office, had prices available within minutes. Too much for an old boiler, so we asked about a new one. Nick, in the office, had costs ready in no time, sending me all the information by email. Decided to go ahead and he set it in motion. Arranged a fitting date for 29th December. Two fitters arrived promptly and set to work immediately. Covered the floor and stair carpet to keep it clean. In no time, the old boiler was out. They worked solidly and had the new boiler working by the end of the day, running cleaner through the system overnight. The next day, they arrived promptly, drained the system to remove the cleaner, before refilling and checking. They were excellent at explaining the workings of the new boiler and the thermostat. New pipework was excellent. Clean, tidy workers. Very professional, very cheerful. Nick offered several ways to pay and we opted for finance, which he helped set up. Very efficient. A trusted local firm which I will continue to use. Well done.

Dealt well with peripheral problems and replacement boiler installation

After a series of intermittent problems with our 12 year old central heating system which Tincknells did their best to resolve, we decided to have the boiler replaced together with the troublesome valves. This was done on the agreed day. The team arrived on time, were pleasant, quiet, wore masks all the time and left everything clean and tidy. All now well. We particularly like the fact that they are a local company. My wife particularly appreciated the big bunch of flowers they sent!
