Martin is a breath of fresh air , providing clear and sound explanation to the problem with a solution appropriate to it. All is now working as it should. Super nice man, considerate clean and speedy work, fairly priced. Highly recommended.

Martin has serviced boilers, replaced water tanks. He solves problems [why was there no cold water coming to any of the top floor taps] He responds to calls promptly, came to help with a washing machine which, in fact, I should have sorted myself and did not want to charge. His charges are reasonable, work is clean, efficient, friendly.

I used Martin twice now. He is very friendly and always makes himself available when you need him. And he fixes things without overcharging.

Martin repaired our leaking toilet. He identified the problem, purchased the parts required, and completed the job within two hours. He communicated well, arrived at the agreed time, was pleasant and polite and did a good job in a short time. The amount charged seemed reasonable. I would recommend him to anyone in the area.

Martin's helped us with several jobs modernising our terrace flat. From small tasks like replacing taps and a sink plug, to moving a radiator, plumbing our new kitchen and replacing a section of damaged exterior waste water pipe. Martin's knowledgeable, punctual and clearly explained the requirements for each job. He also works very hard. Highly recommended!

I have used Martin Toogood's service twice. First to replace a faulty WC filling valve and more recently to install a new WC and washbasin in the cloakroom including removing the old fittings. The work was carried out very efficiently. We had to delay the installation of the new fittings because more tiling was required. Martin readily fitted in with our new schedule. He has always arrived on site when promised. I have no hesitation in recommending Toogood Plumbing.

Our boiler was losing pressure every few hours. Martin was incredibly friendly and quick to respond. He kept to the times he said he’d be able to visit and was very helpful and clear what the issue was. He returned after the parts arrived and came back to finish the job. Called Martin to look at a an inside wall which has become damp. He looked through several solutions. After persevering he eventually found the cause which required a new outside pipe to be refixed. He had all the materials with him and was able to carry out the work in one visit. He is also very pleasant and very knowledgeable and we would certainly use him again.

Martin was great. Responsive, very helpful and explained everything well as we tried to track down the source of a leak through our ceiling.

Martin carried out a boiler service for me, including providing a gas safety record. He also disconnected an old gas cooker for me. He's an honest and friendly chap. Price was reasonable and as expected. I was happy with all work carried out and would hire him again.

We asked Martin to move some pipework so we could rejig our bathroom. He did the work and fixed some other things at the same time and fitted in with our timetable for tiling etc. He was good about dealing with a change in the requirement which meant coming back on another day to complete the job. He turned up when he said he would and was prompt and efficient. We are very happy with his work.

Had to wait a few days but it was worth it. Martin was very efficient and took the trouble to explain what the problem was and gave an ongoing commentary. Replacement parts were required, Martin disappeared on the bike he kept in the rear of his van and was back in no time. Plumbers can leave an almighty mess but the aftermath was very clean. We were well pleased .I would not hesitate to use again, confident of a job well done at reasonable cost.

We moved in October 2021 to our new apartment and found a leak under the washbasin of one of the toilets. Through trusted traders, I contacted quite a few, and Martin was quick to respond and schedule an appointment the earliest and so we went with him. He arrived pretty much on time, looked at the leak and told us that he has identified the leak and had sealed it. All this got done very quickly (much less than the scheduled 1-hour appointment) and we were very happy with the super-efficient turnaround. Unfortunately last week, it started leaking again. So we had to call another plumber to fix the leak and paid again! Fingers crossed. I find the payment for the duration the leak was fixed to be excessive. I won't be going back.

I had Martin change three of my radiators and install thermostatic valves on all my radiators. He came to assess the radiators and discussed options with me before providing a quote. He performed the installation on the agreed date, organising his tasks to that I had time to clean and paint the wall behind the radiators that were being replaced. Once the job was completed, he made sure that I was happy with the end result.

The immersion element in my 40-year-old hot water cylinder blew. My initial quote was from a different tradesman who criticised the installation done way back in 1981, was difficult to pin down to get the quote and arrived quite late for the appointment without apologising. He told me I needed an entirely new system. I was not against a new system, however, I did not want to deal with the first tradesman and therefore got in touch with Martin for a second opinion. Martin was polite, arrived on time, was very approachable and discussed options and pointed out that new cylinders have pipes in every different place, making it a very big and fiddly job. He proposed as first option, the cheaper alternative of draining / wet-vaccing the current cylinder, tilting it forward in the poky cupboard with little clearance, in order to remove the current element. If that didn't work, then we could go to option 2 of a new cylinder. He gave me a quote that seemed very reasonable. On the day, it seemed as if the element would be hard to get out but somehow he managed it without even having to unplumb the cylinder and tilt it forward. He could have easily charged me his original quote but he was very fair and charged simply for the 3 hours labour plus parts & VAT. A pleasure to deal with him and to know that people like this still exist out there in the world.

Martín has been very responsive to the various building emergencies I had at my apartment, sometimes coming out within the hour. Not only is Martín reliable but his work is high quality and done to an extremely professional standard. Martín is a credit to his profession and a tradesman I will be keeping on speed dial from now on!

Martin fitted 2 radiators and a new mixer tap and sorted out the flush on 2 toilets. He was pleasant, gave great advice, communication was good, and he was very fair on pricing. Quick, tidy work, with no fuss.

I had a small but fairly urgent job that needed doing. Martin arranged to come over the next day before going on to his first job for the day. He did the work speedily and efficiently, and he was a very nice person to talk to. Can't recommend too highly.

I live in a first floor flat and wanted an external tap fitted for watering the garden. Martin answered my initial query very promptly and visited to give me an estimate. He carried out the work to a very high standard for a fair price and left my kitchen tidier than he found it! I would definitely recommend.

Martin replaced some external waste pipes, serviced my boiler, fixed a basin overflow which didn't function (caused by faulty work by a previous plumber), advised on replacement strut for a bespoke shower, and investigated the source of some mysterious smells. He carried out all these tasks to my satisfaction, quickly, and for a very fair price – part fixed and agreed in advance, and part on a time and materials basis. He was very professional throughout as well as being friendly and helpful. He seems the sort of quality tradesman who you can rely on to do a great job for a decent price.

After previously carrying out a number of smaller jobs with which we've always been very happy, when we moved house Martin was one of the first people we called. Martin installed a new Boiler, new radiators, and a few other bits and pieces. Everything was (as always) done quickly and professionally, always going the extra mile to make sure everything looks perfect. Even the cleaning up afterwards! Highly recommended.

Martin turned up on time, and investigated our leaking Loo, discovering not one, but two different leak issues. Although very busy, he took the extra time to sort these out in one visit. Would recommend him.

Martin is a great problem-solver, and does not attempt to sell you unnecessary work. When I thought I had two problems, banging water pipes and a leaking kitchen tap, his diagnosis that the banging pipes were caused by the leaky tap proved absolutely right! Another plumber had told my downstairs neighbour that a poorly flushing toilet would need to be replaced, but Martin breezed in with replacement inlet and outlet valves, and the issue was resolved in no time. He is also polite, friendly, hard working, and clears up brilliantly afterwards. I have no hesitation in recommending his services.

Martin has helped remedy a few problems in my flat with old existing plumbing issues. After I had spent over £3k with leak detection agencies finding no leak even though loss of pressure in the boiler etc, Martin found a nasty leak within an hour and a half of getting on the case. What a star! He has always been reliable in terms of timing, very tidy and good at explaining what the issue is, translating from plumber speak to plain English for me! When I had a problem with my boiler previously, Martin looked up my guarantee on the boiler and sorted out for the company to remedy the problem, saving me hundreds and just generally being a lovely honest, helpful person. Tradesmen like Martin are like gold dust, and I feel so lucky to have discovered Martin in my area, would thoroughly recommend.

Martin came out to me at the start of the lockdown to deal with a blocked bathroom sink (crucial, as we couldn't wash our hands properly). He wetvaced the blockage, then told us what he needed to do to stop it happening in future. He then refused to take any money for the urgent call out saying he would add another half hour on his invoice when he eventually got round to doing the full repair when the lockdown eased. He came in June to finish the job, did it well and then refused to add on the extra half-hour from March!

Martin came with two hours when we had to turn off all the water because of a major leak. He identified the problem and solution straight away and did a quick repair.

I contacted Martin because of his good reviews and he more than came up to my expectations. What we thought was going to be a simple job of replacing a basin tap turned out to be far more complicated because of previous incompetence but Martin was unflappable and sorted everything out with ease. The whole process of dealing with him has been excellent.

It was very easy to arrange both visits. Martin was punctual, professional and efficient. He replaced two leaking taps and is coming again to replace the toilet. I have no hesitation in recommending him.

Martin did a very efficient job for me, and is also very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He kept me informed about his arrival and the work that needed to be done, and has been very responsive to my cries for help! A great plumber and a very nice man.

Martin first came to service the boiler. He arrived bang on time, did the job promptly and charged a reasonable fee, which he had given me before he arrived. I asked him to come back to put a new element into a heated towel rail and to check the radiators in the rest of the house. He went out of his way to make sure the job was done properly. Very pleased. Will definitely use Toogood Plumbing again!
