We are a local, Small, family run business and as such we pride ourselves on providing a reliable and friendly service. We carry out central heating system installation, Bathrooms, Air Source Heat Pumps, Ground Source Heat Pumps, Solar Thermal, under floor heating systems and other heating and plumbing works. You can rely on Town Gas to deal quickly with your emergencies and any maintenance repairs. We currently cover most of the BH postcodes and the surrounding areas.

The office is open from 9am to 3pm to book your gas boiler, gas appliance service or to deal with any plumbing or gas emergency.

Joe gave advice on replacing our very ancient central heating boiler and provided a quote promptly which met our requirements more accurately than other companies. David came on the promised date and time to install the boiler and controls. Up to date thermostatic radiator valves were fitted conveniently while the system was drained down. We found Town Gas services friendly and professional throughout. David did a thorough clear up and was also thorough in explaining how to work the new system.

My 10+year old combi boiler failed at a most inconvenient time, just as the start of the colder weather. I contacted my regular plumbing company Town Gas who responded promptly and gave a very detailed and accurate assessment of the condition of the boiler. I agreed that the boiler should be replaced & Town Gas gave me guidance for the best choice for my home. They then provided a detailed written breakdown of the work involved, the cost of the replacement boiler & associated equipment & the estimate. Despite the fact that Town Gas were very busy they adjusted their work & fitted me into their schedule within ten days. The Town Gas Team arrived promptly. They were very tidy workers & were very respectful of my home. The installation was completed within allotted time & estimate. The old boiler & associated equipment was removed to be disposed of & I was given a comprehensive brief on the operation of the new boiler. Town Gas contacted me by telephone 48 hours after the installation to follow up that I was completely happy with the new boiler. I had a couple of questions which Town Gas responded to promptly. I must say that Town Gas are a first class company & I would not hesitate to recommend them for all your domestic plumbing requirements. Thank you Town Gas.

We needed a firm that could rip-out our bathroom to the bare walls. We required a qualified plasterer, carpenter, electrician, tiler and of course plumbers. Town Gas organised everything for us and project managed the whole thing which made the whole experience painless. Every craftsman was respectful, polite, friendly, helpful, extremely qualified, experienced and professional and all tidied up after themselves. I cannot recommend this company highly enough.

I am a long term member of Which and the Trusted Traders is invaluable. I contacted Town Gas with a plumbing problem and from initial contact with Leah, on site visit from Joe, prompt issue of a quote for installation of an Unvented Hot Water System with some other plumbing/gas works which was clearly costed and ultimately work completed by Joe and Sam, their service has been exceptional. They are experienced and knowledgeable, conscientious, polite and friendly and the work was completed on time and invoiced as per their quotation. More importantly for me as a 76 year old woman living alone they were patient. They took time to explain what they were doing and how the system operated more than once which reassured me and I have no hesitation in recommending them and will certainly call on them in the future. From start to finish - a job well done.

Complete Central Heating Boiler and Control Replacement

All the staff at Town Gas are a delight to deal with. From quotation to finished install they have been nothing but fantastic. Sam completed a full replacement of our aging boiler and broken central heating control system. The work was carried out efficiently and with an attention to detail rarely found these days. The newly installed system was explained in full and Sam even recorded some instructional videos as I was unable to be present on the final day. Nothing was too much trouble and it is obvious this company takes pride in it's work and the customer service it provides. We shall certainly be using them in the future. A big thank you to all the team at Town Gas!

Heat pump Installation

Town Gas completed the installation of my Vaillant heat pump over two days. Joe carried out an initial survey to ensure the house and existing radiators were suitable for heat pump heating. The result was that I had to change most radiators, but I was confident that the survey was thorough and the results accurate to go forward. The installation team were careful and considerate and worked quickly and efficiently to remove the old boiler and cylinder and fit the new equipment. We were up and running with hot water at the end of day one. I would have no hesitation in recommending Town Gas to my friends and family and I will use them for regular servicing from today.

From my very first enquiry about changing my ancient gas boiler for a heat pump, it was clear that Joe knew his trade. He listened to my needs and worked out what would work best for me - essentially, a new, 'green' heating & HW system, plus new radiators. He steered me through the planning permission application and managed the grant process too. When Sam & Dave arrived for the installation, they were equally professional and friendly. More than that, it was an absolute pleasure having both of them around. They respected my home, worked well with other tradesmen and did their best to make sure I was as warm as possible in the circumstances. They also kept me informed at every stage and tidied up before leaving each day. Honestly, nothing was too much trouble for Sam - these days, it's rare that tradespeople are so helpful and considerate; if I could, I'd give Town Gas more than five stars! I really couldn't have wished for a better result and so glad I gave up waiting for an ASHP through an energy supplier's scheme. I'll certainly arrange all future servicing through Town Gas. Thanks guys, and enjoy a very well-earned Christmas break.

I have been using Town Gas for several years for annual boiler servicing and other small plumbing jobs. So when my boiler stopped working at the end of October I called and spoke to Leah who quickly arranged for Joe to come out to see what the problem was. It was established that I needed to replace by boiler, on the same day I received a detailed quote and within 5 days the work was completed. Joe and his team at Town Gas provide the very highest standards and nothing is too much trouble, including a demo on how new system worked. I would 100% recommend them - well done guys, you're amazing!

This is the friendliest most professional company that I have had the pleasure of dealing with. I highly recommend them. We required a full gas central heating system fitted into a 1930s bungalow, we have lived in the bungalow for 20+ years relying on old night storage heating. We were apprehensive about fitting central heating envisaging mess and ugly pipes everywhere. We couldn’t have been more wrong. Initially we explored the option of an air source heat pump with Joe from Town gas, he was extremely helpful providing us with a quote for this and access to previous customers who had air source, he gave us open advice with no coercion and was very supportive when due to the age of and difficulty with fully insulating our place we decided to go with gas central heating which involved us getting gas connected up to the property. We were given a comprehensive quote for a gas central heating system including a combi boiler and convection radiators with copper piping. It took Joe and Dave from Town gas one week to complete the installation. They kept us updated throughout. They worked cleanly and professionally and we were very impressed. We are now the proud owners of an impressive gas central heating system, modern with a central control panel in the hallway and a lovely warm house. They also fitted a shower unit for us and went the extra mile tidying up afterwards. The final price was extremely reasonable and came in at less than the original quote. Excellent.

Problem not diagnosed correctly
On a positive note, the booking of the boiler maintenance was efficient , easy and the engineer arrived at the agreed time. Unfortunately the engineer did not diagnose the problem with the boiler despite the error code that suggested a failed sensor. He informed us that it was just a drop in pressure and just reset the pressure which we had done many times before and why we called a so called expert. It was an expensive mistake. We did discuss this with Town Gas but they believe that they had fixed the problem. We have since had the issue fixed by another engineer that actually listened to us and diagnosed the problem correctly.

We are disappointed to hear that your experience with Town Gas was not entirely satisfying and we have spoken to the engineer that attended. Unfortunately he was not made aware that the system pressure loss fault was a re-occurring one which would have needed further investigation. we were not made aware that the fault had returned until 2 weeks after our visit and we certainly cant wait around indefinitely for an intermittent fault to happen again. We are sorry that the communication was not clear and that you felt it necessary to call someone else to attend but multiple visits have to be charged for when faults are not obvious.

I had an intermittent problem with a valve in my Hot Water/Central Heating System which I reported to Town Gas on Monday 4 April. The telephone booking system was very efficient and it was arranged that a plumber would call on Friday 8 April. The plumber (Dave) arrived on time, respected the Covid requirements and fitted a replacement valve in an efficient, tidy manner. I have used Town Gas for a number of jobs in the past including replacing my log burning stove with a gas fire and have always found their staff polite and efficient. I have a monthly service contract with Town Gas and would certainly highly recommend them as a reliable company to deal with all your domestic plumbing and heating requirements.

One of the Best Decisions I have ever made

When I moved to this area 6 years ago I can safely say that one of the best decisions I made was to take out a Town Gas Maintenance Contract. I have the central heating and gas fire serviced on an annual basis and I am only liable for the spare parts required for any repairs the labour being covered by the Town Gas Maintenance Contact. I have always found the Town Gas staff to be polite, efficient and knowledgeable. As an example, the work this invoice refers to, was to replace the hot water expansion vessel and check the pressure in the system. The fault was reported on 26th August 2021, the Town Gas plumber (Alex) arrived promptly the next day and quickly diagnosed the fault. Despite the fact that it was a Bank Holiday the parts were obtained and the work was completed by 31st August. Alex was prompt, polite, and respected our home and the Covid requirements. He was a very tidy worker and obviously did a good job because the fault has been completely rectified. Over the years I have had a number of jobs completed by Town Gas, including, removing a log burning stove and replacing it with a gas fire, replacing two radiators, etc... and I have always been impressed by their professional staff and their standard of workmanship. The work was always completed to the agreed schedule and budget. From my experiences, I really cannot recommend Town Gas more highly.

Town Gas was part of a great team I worked with to completely renovate a very tired bungalow. From the very start, Joe and his team were incredibly helpful and advised me on different available options from heating sources to loos! A new boiler was installed, new radiators throughout, a new kitchen, new bathroom and cloakroom. They were very respectful of my timeline and always completed the jobs in time for other traders to continue with their part. Joe and he’s team fitted a full central heating system to replace the old air flow system due to the lockdown Town gas had limited staff but completed the job in four days I was impressed with the tidy manner they worked ,always hoovered up at the end of the day which pleased the wife. They never tried to do things there way always asked where you wanted the pipework and radiators and was done exactly how you wanted it . Special mention to George and David who were there for most of the time very approachable and always willing. I would recommend Town Gas 100% and would not hesitate to have them do work for me in the future.

We needed to renew the Central Heating System of gas boiler and radiators in the 30 year old bungalow we had recently purchased. Town gas had supplied me with excellent boiler and plumbing maintenance in various properties for some years. They suggested that I might like to replace the gas boiler based system by an environmentally friendly Heat Exchanger System, which would supply central heating and hot water. I knew of heat exchange's, but was under the impression that they could only work in conjunction with warm air underfloor heating. However Town gas advised me that it would work with radiators if we had slightly larger ones. The installation was completed as promised within a week with consideration of us and every care taken of our home, ensuring we knew in advance when we would be without heating, water, or electricity (less than two hours). This consideration applied to both the plumbers and the electricians involved and the cost was as quoted in the detailed quote I had received. The system is up and running efficiently with only a periodic gentle hum from the heat exchange fitted to the rear wall of our bungalow. We are delighted.

Underground leak

Although I have a contract with town gas it does not cover leaks in piping underground. Having heard the water running, but no visible leak I called town Gas. Prompt arrival confirmed there was a leak, but somewhere below my home. My home insurance covers tracing and exposing such leaks, but not the repair. Town Gas advised me as to how to proceed, and when the leak was exposed came back to my home, in an amazingly short time, and repaired the leak whilst the exposing companies staff, were still in attendance. The whole service I got, from this company, was excellent, despite the problems being caused in obtaining help during the Corona Virus. I would thoroughly recommend their services

I had my boiler replaced yesterday and was totally impressed. George, Dave and Sam arrived at 8.30am totally aware of Corona Virus wearing gloves and speaking to me from the lounge door. By 4pm they had completely finished the job, this included hoovering and disinfecting the kitchen surfaces and all the door handles they had touched. They all worked so hard and I received excellent service. I would recommend this company unreservedly.

Replacing old radiators

Felt that we should replace our 40 yr old central heating radiators before they corroded through as there was a lot of sludge in the filter each year on service. Contacted Town Gas as they had fitted the new boiler to my old existing system, a job we were very pleased with. Joe came and offered his advice and a quote for the work which I had no hesitation in accepting. We were delighted with the engineers who came and carried out the work with the minimum of disturbance and we are very pleased with the result. Have no hesitation on recommending Town Gas for installation, repairs & servicing.

We went for a hole-in-wall gas fire (coal effect) and have been very pleased with the work, and the stunning look of the new fire, which works well and gives off plenty of warmth, just where it is needed. The installers were most pleasant and polite, efficient and cheerful. There was a minor snag after installation, but this was dealt with by the suppliers swiftly and effectively, and all is now fine. Highly recommended!

I have been a Town Gas customer for 2 years, my first job for them was a boiler replacement, since then I have paid monthly for the annual service and emergency plumbing call out service. I had a recent problem with the home electrics circuit breaker tripping, I suspected this was caused by the heating system as it happened around 6am when the heating is programmed to turn on. Town Gas responded very quickly and the cause was found to be a 5 year old motorised valve weeping and water getting into the electric motor. Town Gas drained my heating system and replaced 2 motorised valves at my request. As I pay for the emergency plumbing call out service I was only charged for the parts used. In all my dealings with the Town Gas office and Engineers I have been treated very professionally and the Engineers have been very respectful of my home. I do not have any reservations in recommending Town Gas and will continue using them for maintenance and another project I have in mind.

Upgrading Kitchen and Living Room Central Heating Radiators

We have used Town Gas for a number of jobs the most recent (24/01/19) being the upgrading of the central heating radiators in our kitchen and living room. The work was completed to a very high standard within the contracted time and quoted price. Mr Woodsford is a methodical, tidy worker and displayed respect for our home at all times. We have a Service Contract with Town Gas to cover routine servicing and callouts and would highly recommend this contract for peace of mind for all Highcliffe/Christchurch residents. The engineer was at my house 2 hours after I called to say my boiler wasn't working, he found the fan was seized and freed it. I decided to replace the fan and he returned with the new one and less than 3 hours after the call, all was fixed. Brilliant service and very pleasant engineer.

Town Gas carried out a complete renovation of a 55 year old bathroom to a slick modern shower room. Old tiles were removed together with bath, basin, radiator, towel rail, taps and pipe work and taken away. Walls and ceiling were made good. New electric cables and pipework were chased into the walls and a shower tray fitted. The tiler did excellent work on all walls and tiled the floor. An upmarket Aqualiser shower was plumbed in and electrically connected. The basin and unit was installed together with numerous other items. Care and expertise and client considerations was displayed throughout the 28 day period. The cost was £5425 excluding VAT and accessories.

Installing a Gas Burning Log effect Stove

Town Gas were approached to replace a Wood Burning Stove in our home with a Gas Burning Log effect Stove. Mr Woodsford gave a competitive quotation and was able to offer very constructive and helpful advice on the choice of stove and the most appropriate installation. Nothing was too much trouble and we were very confident with the guidance offered. On the day of the installation Mr Woodford arrived promptly and was very respectful of our home whilst preparing the room. The work was undertaken in a calm and professional manner and completed slightly ahead of schedule. We were very pleased indeed with the end result and the tidy way that the room was left. Mr Woodsford took the time to fully brief me on the operation of the new stove and even arranged for the removal and sale of the log burner. Overall this was an excellent job completed in the allotted time at a very competitive price. We would not hesitate to recommend the Team at Town Gas. Thank you.

Over a nine month period we had nine engineers from Homeserve attend to our boiler. They failed to solve the problem. Town Gas diagnosed the cause of our problem in one visit, and our boiler is now functioning well. They are competent and organised. Pleasant to deal with as well. David B

We have a maintencence contract for our gas, boiler and central heating sytem as well as a call out service for any plumbing faults. We've also had two installations in the kicthen done. They are always 100%, no problems; they give us all the information we need and on time.

We've been living in this property for 6 years and the boiler we had up until the replacement, was getting old. The other thing was that one of the radiotrs in the main bedroom never heated satisfactorily. The lady next door had utilised Town Gas for a boiler replacement and she recommend them. Town Gas sent an engineer to check on the problems and they proposed a solution. I spoke to Mr Woodford and we arranged a time quite promptly. They managed to solve the problem. They quoted me the cost of everything very early on in detail and stuck to it. Mr Woodford then came around to do a final check on the all the electrics and so on. The boiler is working satisfactorily and we're very pleased.

We moved to them as a regular, yearly repair people. We used to look after an old chap up the road and he was with town gas so recommended them. They're very good, came and did a complete check of the property, serviced the boiler, came and checked everything was in working order. They've done some very good work, every time we've asked them to come out they come and do it within days, very quickly.
