Watkins Carpentry

We have used Watkins brothers before and were again very impressed by the whole team. This time they made good the areas surrounding two new velux windows. The old ones had been very badly installed requiring extensive repairs to the inside of our loft rooms. Tom came round very promptly and suggested two different ways to repair the area and the cost of each. Amy was very helpful and efficient in sending out estimates and liaising with us over when the work could be done. Tom and Simon ( the very skilled plasterer) did an amazing job. So good that it is impossible to tell that there was ever anything wrong with the area. It had been a very ugly mess! The house was left perfectly clean and tidy.

They say if you wait for a job to be done it is because the tradesmen are good. Well worth the wait for this job. John was the most professional person I have ever dealt with. He was considerate and kind. His work was immaculate. Will recommend him and Tom to others.

Tom, John and an extended team dealt with all aspects of the work on our Grade 2 listed home. The standard of work, from damp proofing to fine carpentry and decorating was excellent and carried out in a highly professional manner. A number of challenges were overcome with cheerful determination. It was an absolute pleasure to liaise with Tom. His positive and creative approach enabled us to realise our visions. As a result we feel that we have been fully involved in this, for us, very special project. Amy provided valuable administrative support contributing to the first-rate levels of communication. Watkins Carpentry visited us prior to the work, discussed the work in detail with us and left us catalogues from which we selected the doors we wanted. They also left us a detailed but general list of what they would do and the order in which it would be done. They then sent us a brief but adequate quotation which we agreed. They then ordered the new doors, new hinges and other accessories. We asked them to refit the existing door handles on the new doors to which they agreed. At this point we paid a 10% deposit. A few weeks later they contacted us to arrange a starting date for the work. The work took 5 days with one carpenter for 3 days and 2 for 2 days. We paid a further 20% at the start of the work. They took great care in fitting the doors, raising a number of issues with us as they went. They arrived when they said they would and worked steadily and accurately all day, with occasional breaks. They put down protective plastic on the carpets and kept their tools tidily. The doors are all very well and accurately fitted; much better than the originals. They took all the old doors and hinges, etc. away and tidied up perfectly. They kept us well informed as they worked and worked to schedule and budget. We are very pleased with the result.
