About
We have 60 year's of experience softening water in the West of England. A true family business started in 1965 by John Hodges. John began installing water softeners in farms, then moved on to domestic properties.
Courtney, John’s son, with his wife Lyn, son Paul and daughter Tracy, along with her partner Bart, joined the business as it expanded.
W.E. Softeners, also known as West of England Water Softeners, supply and install a range of water softeners including the popular, non-electric, twin cylinder, block salt, water softener. We also service and repair many makes and models.
We also install drinking water systems and Quooker boiling water taps, and stock accessories.
We’re an authorised dealer for Kinetico and Harvey Water Softeners. All works is carried out by our own, trained W.E. Softener engineers.
We sell quality, competitively priced block, curve and tablet salt for all makes and models for collection from our store. Local delivery can be arranged at extra cost.

We were introduced to WE softeners by friend's over 19yrs ago because we live in a hard water area. We had our first softener fitted and this lasted until late October 2025. We could hear water running and suspected it was coming from the softener. Ben came out to inspect our old softener and after a thorough inspection declared it was at the end of its life and we would need a new one. We organised a time and date with the efficient ladies in the office and a week later Ben arrived to do the fitting. No fuss, no mess everything sorted and explained very pleased with the service and our new softener.

My 30 year water softener had packed up so I went to WE Softeners showroom to see about a replacement. I was very well looked after and everything was explained very clearly so I placed the order with confidence. On the day Ben did the fitting. He had a very tight space to work within but achieved a very neat and workable solution. Everything was left clean and tidy, and Ben took me through how it all worked. Thoroughly recommended.

WE Softeners Limited installed a water softener yesterday and I cannot recommend this company highly enough. We already had a water softener that had been installed by WE Softeners when we moved into our house. WE Softeners came up on the list of approved installers when we started looking to have a Quooker tap installed. They initially came out to survey where we wanted the Quooker installed and were very thorough when explaining the options. Due to space limitations, they thought they may have to move things around to fit the boiling water tank and the Cube in the right place. When the engineer came out to install the Quooker system, he managed to get everything installed without moving anything else which meant we gained a whole cupboard. The installation was completed in a few hours and we were given a "tour" of the system. All in all, we were really happy with the service that WE Softeners gave us. Great communication, everything was done cleanly, and there was no drama when they had to think on their feet to give us the best solution. Shortly after the installation, we received a call to make sure we were happy with everything. I'd definitely be happy to recommend WE Softeners.
