Who is Ramble Worldwide?

Formerly known as Ramblers Walking Holidays, Ramble Worldwide offers more than 200 small-group walking holidays in the UK, Europe and around the world, hosted by expert tour leaders. Covering six continents, its itineraries range from ‘lowland ambles’ to ‘high mountain trekking’. Ramble Worldwide operates with a charitable ethos, chanelling profits via the Ramble Worldwide Outdoor Trust into organisations that promote access to and protect the great outdoors, as well as supporting the more disadvantaged areas it visits.

Which? verdict

Ramble Worldwide is a Which? Recommended Provider for both escorted tours and walking holidays, and for good reason. It’s not the cheapest provider we surveyed but, even so, it received a five-star rating for value.

Ramble Worldwide's refund, cancellation and surcharge policy

Ramble Worldwide is a Which? Recommended Provider (WRP), which means that as well as being one of the most highly rated holiday firms in our survey it has also guaranteed to offer a full refund, or free changes, if the Foreign Office (FCDO) changes its advice about your destination. 

It has also promised that in 2024 it won’t apply any additional surcharges to holidays that have already been booked.

What’s Ramble Worldwide like?

Despite being one of the more expensive holiday providers in our survey, at an average price of £185pp per day, Ramble Worldwide gets five stars for its value for money in the escorted tour category. One customer praised its ‘good value for money, lovely walks’ and ‘superb guide'.  

In both the escorted tour and walking holidays categories, Ramble Worldwide received four-star ratings for how well the description matched the reality of the holiday. A customer noted 'The holiday was satisfying because the location was just as described and even more stunning than expected.' 

It’s a good sign when people use a holiday company year after year. One customer told us they had been on 16 trips with Ramble Worldwide and said: ‘I was well looked after and felt safe, even in a tent in the Serengeti.’ Astonishingly, another said they’d used the firm 70 times in 30 years.

It’s factors like this which have given Ramble Worldwide its great customer scores in our survey. The company was unbeaten in both the escorted tour and walking holiday categories, scoring 88% and 87% respectively.
