Secret Escapes negotiates rates for luxury hotels and holidays in the UK and abroad, but it is also a package holiday provider in its own right. It sells its hand-picked holidays with discounted prices through its website and app with a free email membership.

Which? verdict

Secret Escapes impressed readers with its excellent value as it was one of only three providers to get the full-five stars for value for money for its beach/resort holidays. But several providers still received better customer scores in our survey, and its city breaks appeared to show some flaws.

What's Secret Escapes like?

Secret Escapes offers luxury holidays made affordable, via specially-curated deals. In our beach/resort holidays category, Secret Escapes was one of just three companies to receive a five-star value for money score. It received the same rating for its family holidays. One customer said it offered 'incredible value’ while another gushed that their holiday ‘catered for all that we required for a family holiday’. 

However, Secret Escapes received inconsistent star ratings for the overall organisation of the holiday. It scored five stars for the organisation of its beach/resort holidays, but just three stars for its city breaks and family holidays. A customer noted 'whilst providing a package - flights, accommodation and hire car, they were rather disengaged with the whole process’. 

Nevertheless, it’s clear customers were pleased with Secret Escapes’ beach/resort holiday offerings, rating it a full five stars in five out of seven possible categories. Customers liked both the accommodation provided and how well the description matched reality, as it scored five stars in both categories for family holidays as well. 

One customer was pleased to see 'the holiday was as expected - accommodation and transport was booked to our satisfaction.’ with the accommodation in general being described as ‘top quality’ by others.  

Should I book with Secret Escapes?

Secret Escapes looks very good on paper, and its beach/resort holidays have been received well across the board. But both Hays Travel and Jet2Holidays offer a more consistent experience. If your heart’s set on a luxury holiday, Which? Recommended Provider Kuoni may be worth the extra money - especially if you're going long haul.
