Trailfinders refund, cancellation and surcharge policy

Trailfinders is a Which? Recommended Provider (WRP) which means that as well as being one of the most highly rated holiday firms in our survey it has also guaranteed to offer a full refund, or free changes, if the Foreign Office (FCDO) changes its advice about your destination.

It has also promised that in 2024 it won’t apply any additional surcharges to holidays that have already been booked.

What’s Trailfinders like?

Trailfinders is consistently excellent across the variety of holidays it offers. In both beach/resort and family holidays it received five stars in every category except value for money. Customers repeatedly complimented Trailfinders’ ‘very helpful, efficient and knowledgeable’ staff and excellent standard of accommodation and Trailfinders came top of the cultural tour category, with a customer score of 85% and solid star ratings. 

Whether energetic adventures in faraway locations appeal or you simply want to lie on a sun lounger on an exotic beach, Trailfinders can be relied upon to arrange exactly the package holiday or escorted tour you’re after. The company is best known, though, for its bespoke travel arrangements, building complex itineraries to individual specifications. So its no surprise it scored highly with customers who went on tailor-made holidays, coming in second place after Audley Travel, with a customer score of 86%.  Customers told us that when Trailfinders was building bespoke itineraries, it had ‘very good attention to detail’ and ‘superb organisation’, especially with important medical requirements and when accommodating disabilities. 

Trailfinders was a top three provider of city breaks, but it only got three stars for value for money, which is why it’s not a WRP in this category. 

Our survey found that the average price per day for a short-haul holiday was £135pp. For long haul it was £217pp. This makes it the most expensive company in our table for long-haul holidays, though it still got a good four-star rating for value in most holiday categories.

Trailfinders received a customer score of over 80% in all categories but walking holidays (where HF Holidays and Ramblers are better-rated alternatives) and all-inclusive holidays (where Jet2Holidays and Saga are better-rated).

What’s also particularly impressive is that it’s one of the few companies that ring-fences customer money in a separate account, so customers know their cash is safe. 

Should I book with Trailfinders?

Absolutely. Trailfinders is a Which? Recommended Provider for beach/resort holidays, tailor-made holidays, cultural tours, and family holidays, with brilliant customer service. The breadth of impressive scores across these categories makes it a great option for your holiday. However, it is one of the more expensive providers.
