Homeglaze Home Improvements is no stranger to awards, having already won Which? Trusted trader of the month in April 2016 and of course, being the 2017 Which? Trader of the Year. But company director Colin Morgan told us he was ‘more surprised by this win than any of the others.’ Nevertheless, Colin and the Homeglaze team are really pleased with the award.

Colin said: ‘It’s great because it’s all about consistency. I think this will help us, as it shows my team haven’t changed. Our standards are just as high as always, and that’s what I want to hear.’

Excellent reviews for superior service

Colin and the Homeglaze Home Improvements team are based in Chigwell, from where they supply and fit windows, doors, porches and roofline improvements across Essex and the South East. Homeglaze Home Improvements was established in 2010, and the business has grown steadily over the past eight years.

As Colin freely admits, the double-glazing industry hasn’t always had the best reputation, so he has actively looked to provide excellent customer service and a non-pushy sales style to counteract people’s expectations. The business isn’t tied to a particular double-glazing manufacturer, so it prides itself on its ability to offer a real selection of products to its customers, and will go above and beyond to ensure that they’re happy.

Homeglaze Home Improvements joined Which? Trusted Traders almost three years ago, in April 2015. The business has made full use of the endorsement, putting the logo on its website, using it on social media, emails, letter heads, brochures, key-rings and more. Colin told us: ‘People moan about Which? not being a lead generator, but if you get that lead, it really helps you convert it. Now, with the Which? Trusted trader of the month and the Trader of the Year once we get to a client, we sell the job.’

The team also ensure that customers know about the review process. There are more than 360 on the Homeglaze profile page, where customer after customer expresses how polite and helpful the fitters are, the sales service is relaxed and helpful, and the whole experience is positive from start to finish. Homeglaze Home Improvements also takes the time to reply to all its reviews, continuing that relationship with the customer.

Social media and community support

Homeglaze Home Improvements continues to impress our judging panel on the social media front. In the past month the company has been particularly active with videos to give customers advice and inspiration, a Pinterest page with ideas for home improvements, plus activity on Facebook and Instagram as well.

The company has showcased its support for local sporting initiatives. Homeglaze Home Improvements sponsors one local kids' football team - Under 9 Jets at Chigwell Football Club - and one youth football team, Harold Wood Cougars. In addition, the business sponsors its local boxing gym and some of the boxers training there, from the beginners to those who are taking boxing more seriously.

Recently Colin accompanied Sam Gilley, a young boxer who is sponsored by Homeglaze, to a training camp in Fuerteventura. Sam was photographed wearing a Which? Trusted trader hat, alongside champion professional boxers Kell Brook and Jason Quigley - something that proved very popular on social media. ‘I try to get the Which? Trusted trader hat in different places,’ Colin said. ‘Boxing is a very popular sport and it just gets the word out there.’
