JNJ Building Services Ltd has been named Which? Trusted Trader of the Month for February 2026. The company also won this award in January 2021.

Founded in 2014, this family-run business serves as a lighthouse for homeowners navigating the turbulent waters of residential renovation. The company offers services ranging from property refurbishments to extensions, conversions and beyond.

We spoke to Jamie Jenkins, founder of JNJ Building Services, to find out more about the company’s success and how being a Which? Trusted Trader has impacted business.

Caring for customers long before construction begins

Perhaps the most striking statistic in JNJ’s portfolio is that approximately 50% of their projects involve stepping in to rescue homeowners from previous contractors.

‘We went into business with a simple aim: to deliver high-quality work in a sector where trust, communication and professionalism is largely lacking,’ said Jamie. ‘From the beginning, we wanted to show that building work could be delivered with clear processes, strong health-and-safety standards and genuine care for customers and their homes.’

The team spends significant time at the start of every project educating clients on the process, legal responsibilities and realistic budgets - no surprises, no hidden costs. ‘Our aim is to achieve a high level of cost clarity at the outset, supported by sensible contingency planning, so clients feel informed and financially prepared,’ said Jamie.

This structured and communicative approach is a clear hit with customers, and a breath of fresh air for those who had been burned by cowboy builders in the past.

One customer review reads: ‘JNJ truly saved our home! We had an absolute disaster with many previous builders, and we’d lost all hope. We decided to reach out [to JNJ], and it was the best decision we ever made. They took full control, resolved every issue and restored our confidence in the project, turning a nightmare into a success story, and we are genuinely grateful.’

‘Seeing the relief and confidence return to clients, and finishing with a result they’re proud of, is incredibly rewarding for the whole team.’ said Jamie.

One of our judges also commented: ‘Many traders would shy away from work started by others - especially rogue traders - so this commitment speaks volumes about their integrity, skill and dedication to customers.’

Years of supporting charity

Reducing detriment doesn’t just end at helping customers. Another stand-out feature of JNJ Building Services is its extensive support of a number of charities.

‘Community support is a big part of who we are,’ said Jamie. ‘We believe business success should benefit the wider community.’

The company has supported the food redistribution charity Surplus to Supper for five years through regular volunteering, fundraising and practical support, helping bridge the gap between food waste and food poverty locally.

Additionally, the founder of JNJ has also taken part in 150 endurance events to raise funds for MS Trust and other charitable causes. The business also contributes financially from company profits each year.

‘More than a badge’: Which? Trusted Traders endorsement gives customers confidence

We asked Jamie about how being a Which? Trusted Trader has affected the company.

‘We joined because we believe homeowners deserve independent reassurance when choosing someone to work in their home. The Which? Trusted Trader scheme aligns closely with how we already operate, with transparency, fair trading and accountability,’ he said.

‘Customers absolutely value it; many mention the endorsement when first contacting us, and it provides added confidence that our business has been independently assessed and is held to recognised standards.’

When asked if he had any advice for other traders thinking of joining up to the scheme, Jamie told us: ‘See it as more than a badge; it’s a framework for running a better business. The assessment encourages you to review how you communicate, document your work and look after customers. If you already operate professionally, the scheme reinforces that; if there are areas to improve, the process helps you raise your standards, which ultimately benefits both the business and consumers.’

Congratulations to JNJ Building Services for winning February 2026’s Which? Trusted Trader of the Month award.
