The family-run roofing contractor provides a comprehensive range of residential and commercial roofing services in Blackpool and the surrounding area.

They have been endorsed by Which? since 2017, and this is their second time winning Trusted Trader of the Month, following a win in December 2019. They have also picked up two Which? Certificates of distinction.

Quality and customer service at the heart of the business

JR Roofing Lancs always strives to provide the highest standard of craftsmanship across a full range of roofing services, including new roofs, roof maintenance and roof repairs. 

Before starting any work, they carry out a free roof survey with photographs, and an in-depth quotation detailing all of the work required. 

As well as Which? Trusted Traders, their accreditations and memberships include National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC) Competent Persons Scheme, Confederation of Roofing Contractors, and Federation of Master Builders.

Raising the standard of roofing services both locally and nationally

JR Roofing Lancs recognises that the standards and reputation of the roofing industry has been impacted by the skills shortage and rogue traders. 

‘We are constantly striving to improve the reputation of roofers both locally and nationally,’ says Josh. ‘We made a company decision to only take on trainees or apprentices that we could teach ourselves to ensure they worked to our high standards.’ 

Not only that, but Josh has taken on the role of NFRC Regional Cahir to help make positive changes for the roofing industry as a whole. 

The company also provides support and roofing services for individuals who have dealt with rogue traders. They recently helped a woman who had unfortunately used a rogue trader to deal with an issue with her windows. This trader left a hole in her ceiling and broke numerous slates on her roof. 

JR Roofing Lancs contacted their supplier, who donated all the materials required, and fixed her roof free of charge. 

The woman donated £100 to the parachute regiment in their name and left a glowing review on their site: ‘I have the utmost admiration for Josh and his team. The service they provided has been the best I’ve ever had from any tradesman. They are an extremely hard working team who are very friendly but also very professional.’

Which? Trusted Trader of the Month judges all highlighted how impressed they were with JR Roofing Lancs’ work. One wrote: ‘Love that they are aware that their industry has a bad reputation and that they are committed to improving this by providing a great service… Being an NFRC regional chair adds huge weight.’

Giving back to charity and the local community

Not only does JR Roofing Lancs give back to the community, they also work with Ecologi, which provides climate solutions to businesses looking to offset their environmental impact. 

JR Roofing Lancs works with Ecologi to plant trees on behalf of every customer, and to offset carbon emissions in the team's personal and professional life. 

They have also pledged their support to the Armed Forces community, and have received the Bronze Award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) in recognition of their commitment and support.

Finally, Josh praised the support he received while joining the scheme: ‘We really benefited from speaking with the trading standards professional and we learnt a lot from the process,’ he said. ‘It has been a valuable association for us, offering insights and contributing to our continuous improvement.’
