In this year’s Which? Awards, our expert judges whittled down top picks of brands going above and beyond for consumers in 13 categories ranging from home appliances to electric vehicles. Buckinghamshire-based company Kimble Solar came out on top as the Which? Renewables Installer of the Year for 2025.
This is a new award for 2025, introduced as Which? is dedicated to supporting consumers who want to reduce their carbon footprint as the UK looks to achieve its net zero goals. Many consumers are opting to install renewable energy solutions to reduce emissions. Therefore, this award has been introduced to recognise installers who are providing customers with the knowledge and services to help achieve this goal.
Kimble Solar is a family-run business specialising in solar panel and battery installations, ensuring high-quality services and customer satisfaction. They provide tailored renewable energy solutions to meet each property’s unique needs.
It was awarded for its outstanding approach to customer education, sustainability, and energy efficiency. It engages with its audience in innovative ways, particularly through its website where it has a Solar Success section that provides education on the benefits of going green and an interactive finance calculator, which simplifies the process for customers to assess the financial benefits of solar energy.
The judging panel commented: ‘This company has demonstrated excellence in its sector, setting a high standard for innovation and customer engagement. Its dedication to sustainability and education, combined with a strong brand presence, has solidified its position as a leader in the industry and the well-deserved winner of Renewable Trader of the Year.’
We asked Chris Sadler, CEO of Kimble Solar, what it means to have won a Which? Award.
‘It’s incredible,’ he said. ‘Customer service is at the heart of everything we do - it’s ingrained in us. If something’s not quite right, we want to do the right thing, fix it and make sure our customers are happy. The fact that that has been recognised now, at the highest level, it’s a massive honour.’
Fusion Renewables Ltd, So Go Solar Ltd, and The Solar & Renewables co. Ltd were also shortlisted for the award.
As well as receiving a coveted Which? Awards trophy, Kimble Solar is entitled to use the Which? Awards winners logo across all marketing free for a year.
Anabel Hoult, Which? Chief Executive said, ‘Congratulations to Kimble Solar for its win at this year's Which? Awards. Adding solar panels and batteries to a property is a big decision and their dedication to consumer education is admirable. The Which? Awards judging standards are incredibly high, so to be named as a winner is a huge achievement - something only achieved by the best of the best.’
