1st Call Services is a family owned business with over 20 years experience in the industry. We regard ourselves as being large enough to trust but small enough to care. We serve Essex and surrounding area.

Our core business is in the installation of Boilers and Central Heating Systems. We are proud to be accredited installers for Worcester Bosch Boilers (rated No.1 by Which? for the last 10 years). In 2023 we installed 173 Worcester Bosch boilers. The majority of our customers are private home owners.

Our commitment is to provide all of our customers with a high level of service, whilst providing the best and most efficient solution for their needs, home, budget and the environment.

My ancient boiler stopped working when the gas pipes were renewed in our street. 1st Call Services came out the day after I contacted them and diagnosed that debris from the work to replace the pipes had entered the boiler and caused the pilot light to stop working properly. They dismantled the relevant part of the boiler, cleared the debris, and rectified the issue. They also tested the boiler to make sure there were no leaks of carbon monoxide. They were polite, efficient, and prompt. I have no hesitation in recommending them and would use them again.

Replacement of Boiler and 4 Radiators

The Heating engineer David and his workmate Boo arrived on time to start the install he clearly explained what he was going to do over the two days. He was very accommodating as we needed a very large welsh dresser moved into the recess (In which they moved it themselves) between the old radiator being taken out and the new one installed. He then gave us a few days to unpack the boxes and clear the back room so the old radiator could be removed and the new radiator installed on another wall. We were very very happy with the installation carried out by Dave and Boo. Nothing was too much trouble, they worked tidily and efficiently and the standard of workmanship was extremely high. They also arranged for the old Boiler,gas fire and radiators etc to be taken away for recycling. They also explained that they service boilers and should be serviced yearly. It's very rare to find tradesmen as good as this these days. I highly recommend these tradesmen.

I called in the morning, got a prompt reply and explained my problem. I was immediately told a valve needed repairing and that they could come out in the afternoon. They came as promised and quickly got to work, showing me the problem and clearly explaining what would be done. The work was carried out straight away and I was easily able to see and understand what had been done. I do not hesitate to recommend 1st Call Services to anyone in the Leigh-on-Sea and Westcliff areas.

Fitting new boiler

My old boiler had given up the ghost. Reviewed boiler engineers in the area found 1st call services . Phoned the company and explained a new boiler was needed , Dave introduced himself and said he would see us on the Wednesday afternoon . During the visit Dave explained clearly what was needed to fit the boiler .He said he would get back to me that evening with price ,and no obligation to buy. Dave went through his diary to see when he could fit boiler if price was accepted . The next day was free .So when quote came through we were happy with the price . Dave and his apprentice arrive the next day at 8am and commenced to fit the boiler and were done by 3.30 . All through Dave and his Apprentice were very polite and friendly .Now we have a great boiler with Hive wifi .Could not recommend high enough .A great firm .

Dave installed my new boiler a few years ago and has serviced it annually ever since. I like that I get a reminder when the service is due as it saves me remembering! He's polite, friendly and efficient and leaves the area clean and tidy when he's finished. Very reasonable prices too. If I ever needed a new boiler, I would most definitely use Dave. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Remove existing radiator and install vertical radiators

In order to refurbish our kitchen, we first needed to replace an existing radiator with two vertical radiators. David understood our requirements, obtained prices for various options available and made recommendations. He subsequently installed the radiators carrying out all work cleanly and efficiently ensuring we were left with a fully working system. His approach with regards to running pipework etc. also took into consideration our plans for the kitchen to ensure the installation was the best possible for our future plans. We are also very pleased with the recommendations he made with regards to the make/quality of the new radiators provided.

David and his assistant carried out a complex boiler replacement job quickly and efficiently, including plumbing and ventilation work to convert freed-up space for a washing machine and tumble dryer. There was minimum disruption, and they were courteous and cheerful. We are pleased with the results.

Dave from 1st Call Services came and quoted to replace our boiler and fit a Hive controller, as well as check over the rest of the heating and hot water system. We were able to discuss options and it was explained what the best system would be and why. When we decided to go ahead, the communication was excellent and Dave turned up reliably when arranged. The work was completed in the time agreed and everything left neat and tidy. It was great to be able to use an independent small business and know exactly who we would be dealing with each time we called.

This is a belated review, no excuse's but this is only the 2nd review that I have ever done. Our boiler system failed completely on January 1st 2021, after waiting 16 days for a national maintenance company (not British Gas) to continually fail us with broken assurances and appointments we turned to 1st Call Services. David turned up within 4 hours of our first contact, carried out a comprehensive survey, discussed options with us and delivered a very professional proposal the next morning. David recognised the dire situation we were in and installed a new Bosch boiler and immersion tank within 6 days. Tremendous service, thoroughly recommended.

1st call are probably the most professional and friendly company I have ever come across of late. We had our boiler break down on Boxing day which coincided with the start of the cold spell! David was out to see us pretty much straight away and got a quote to us the next day, we had our new boiler fitted on New Years day! thank you David for coming out during the festive season and looking after us. I would highly recommend this company any day of the week!

We committed to contracting 1st Call Services to fit our new Bosch boiler after speaking to the proprietor, David to discuss options. Our preference was always to support a local company and we were reassured by David’s knowledge and openness in terms of outlining options - this is always reassuring as one doesn’t get the sense that one is hearing a ‘hard sell’ for one particular product. We settled on a Worcester 32CDI and the quote we received was competitive and in line with others secured. Ultimately, our decision to go with 1st Call Services was predicated on trusting David to deliver on his commitment. He did this by arriving on time, fitting the boiler in a very professional manner (some piping required rerooting etc.), and remaining courteous throughout. He also ensured that the area where the boiler was fitted remained tidy and as he had found it prior to fitting. He was supported on the day by a company apprentice whose customer service skills were exemplary. In summary, I’d have no hesitation in recommending David and 1st Call Services.

David’s team are very professional, very polite, very honest, there are no hidden charges - the price quoted was the price paid. David has completed a few different jobs for us in the past at previous properties and so we were very confident that he would do a great job with the removal of our old boiler and replace it with a new, more modern and efficient boiler that was suited to our household. Once again, he hasn’t let us down and we are very pleased with the work. The team arrived promptly, were very friendly, demonstrated everything and cleaned up before they left.

Having been recommended to 1st call services, I contacted David to replace a back boiler. He recommended a Worcester Bosch combi boiler. The work was carried out with minimum disruption in one day. David, Scott and Denny were friendly and efficient and left everything clean and tidy. They have just carried out the 1 year service and I am very pleased with their work and would highly recommend them. Very happy to have found 1st call services as they have restored my faith in plumbers.

David, Scott & Denny fitted a replacement boiler and 2 towel radiators. They arrived promptly and worked relentlessly to get all the work done in 1 day, despite having to resolve several unforeseen and time consuming issues - all at the originally quoted (competitive) price! Even though the job took longer than planned, they still took the time to clean/tidy up. Finally, good ‘aftersales’ support via phone, and return visit to address a few niggles. Highly recommended.

They were very friendly & explained all the controls when the job was completed. The hot water has a great flow rate & the heating works instantly.
