Tony Ward of APWard Building Services Ltd undertook a difficult refurbishment - namely that of my late partner's house which I was project managing from a distance. His professional manner and integrity right from the start, was outstanding. His high standards, attention to detail, itemised quotations & invoices, patience, ability to problem solve, clear communication and helpful advice, were exceptional. His aesthetic sense, his and his team's practical skills and high standard of workmanship fully matched this. As a family, we are delighted with the transformation of what was an unsaleable wreck into something quite beautiful. It is now a lovely family home of which we can be proud. All this and coming in under budget, cleaning up as they went along and allowing us to add additional works as we went along, was not easy. We could not have managed without Tony's considerable experience and that of his team. I think it is fair to say that, after project managing 4 previous major house refurbishments, APWard Building Services are the best builders I have ever worked with.

I have used A P Ward Building Services for the complete refurbishment of two rental properties. Tony provided detailed estimates for the work involved, the work was undertaken in a professional manor with qualified tradesmen and within the timelines predicted. It was a full ‘turn-key’ solution with Tony coordinating all works with the utility companies. A P Ward continue to maintain the properties, servicing appliances and providing annual safety certificates. A company that I have no hesitation in recommending.

Needing a small electrical job done, Tony recommended a longer-term solution, which was carried out very efficiently, politely and showing sound knowledge and advice. This is the second job the firm have done for us, and they will be our first choice for anything else that comes along.

The team who undertook our roof repair completed their work promptly, were always polite and courteous, and tidied up efficiently. The reasons they found for the original problem were explained clearly, and the finished job looks very impressive.

Have been using A P Ward since 2010. The latest episode invollved: 1 removing a broken built in fridge and re-siting another fridge into the gap 2 replacing light switches to make them compatible with LED bulbs 3 fixing broken and missing roof tiles 4. building a safety handrail on my rather steep front steps. All work done to a high standard by very professional and pleasant workmen. Definitely a "one stop shop". Prices reasonable. I will always use them again if and when anything else crops up

We had a problem with our guttering, both at the front and the back. The front involved cleaning out the guttering and the back, where an extra section of pipework had to be installed to prevent rainwater running over the top of the guttering. We took advice from Tony who suggested the solution of the additional pipework. The first was done promptly and well and the second has worked well in channeling the rainwater away without any spillage and flooding, which was the problem to be solved. It needed some minor alteration, which was carried out promptly and well. It's a great improvement and once again, Tony has provided us with a high standard of service and expert advice. He is always helpful and responsive and takes time to explore and discuss the problem and possible solutions. The work was carried out to the agreed estimate. We would recommend Tony Ward and would certainly use his services again.

After a major plumbing disaster and damaged kitchen when someone else fitted our bathroom, Tony could not have been more helpful and efficient in sorting it out. Now everything looks better than it did before.

We had an emergency at our home in London. Water poured from our main shower into the light fixing in the dining room ceiling below; and from our ensuite bathroom, water ran down the walls in the hallway. From Somerset, we called Tony and explained the situation. He and his team went straight to the house, took photos of the damage done; suggested what needed to be done to put it right; and got to work sorting it out. They completely replaced the shower; repaired the dining room ceiling; and fixed the ensuite shower. They kept us informed every step of the way and did an exceptional job – as we knew they would. They always do. The team also undertook some smaller, property management works for us at a later date - fixing roof flashings; fixing internal doors; and jet washing patio stones. I have used A P Ward a number of times over the last 5 years including redecorating of bedroom, modern loft access installation and re-roofing of house. The most recent job has been damp-proofing the kitchen (including some replastering) and redecoration of the kitchen. Both jobs have been done really well and AP Ward are a pleasure to interact with (both Tony Ward and the people doing the work). Simply put, they are my go-to builder when I need something done.

I look after an elderly relative’s house in Beckenham, which is currently standing empty. As I live in Wiltshire this is difficult and I have relied on this building firm to assess damage and respond to it promptly during winter weather. For example water damage and roof repairs. They are completely trustworthy and it is not necessary for me to be there as they send me comprehensive before and after photos. I can thoroughly recommend this company.

We moved into our new house and found we had several cracked floorboards that needed replacing in the upstairs landing. A P Ward was recommended and we are now very glad for the recommendation. It wasn't the biggest job but AP Ward were quick to send someone round to give us a quote, which was very reasonable. The work was carried out soon after. We had been in touch with Tony throughout the process of purchasing our house asking his advice about possible future building plans. A P Ward installed a new electric shower for me when mine stopped working. Kieron arrived on time and carried out the work quickly and efficiently; and left the work area clean and tidy. I have used A P Ward for a number of jobs and would not hesitate to recommend them.

Tony made a very good impression at the first meeting. He listened carefully to my requirements, which required special handling of the tiling in particular. Unglazed terracotta is very porous and needs special, longwinded, applications for grouting and protection. The old patio had to be removed, damp proof course installed, hardcore reinstalled, some drainage replaced and the manhole repaired. The concrete was reinforced with metal mesh and metal fibres to provide a long-lasting base for tiling that should avoid water ingress from the ground as much as possible. There was a lag between base installation and tiling because of the approaching winter and then rain, but also because I became ill and cancelled twice at very short notice. The latter should ideally not be done because it will likely be a serious inconvenience for the builder's planning. Tony was very understanding and helpful, and we managed to get the job done eventually. The tiling itself was complicated because the tiles were of a different hue, and needed extra care with placing. They were also 2 cm thick and required several applications of protector with extra drying time in between. Tony and his team, Karl, Martin and Kieron are very pleasant people. Even hitches were easy to resolve. They have been absolutely reliable. I was impressed with how tidy they left the place, not just at the end but in between. A.P. Ward is definitely the go to builder in my address book.

I had some work done in my bathroom, new shower screen, new bath panel, sealant removed and replaced, new shower accessories. Karl and Kieron did a great job and I am delighted with the result. This is the first time I have used Tony and his team and have now asked Tony to do two other jobs for me. Communication is excellent and the final cost was as quoted.

We have used AP Ward extensively over the past few years for jobs ranging from the large (completely redoing kitchen and bathroom), medium (soundproofing small bedroom), to small (removing rubbish and fixing gutters). At each turn, we have been impressed by Tony and team's high standard of work and dedication to resolving any issues that arose during or after completion.
