Ongoing faults / breakdown with chairlift since purchase

Stairlift fitted on the 4th August 2022 because of wife’s heart failure problem. First fault reported 1st September 2022, and since then further faults reported 14th September 2022, 4th October 2022, 4th March 2023, 21st August 2024 and 18th September 2024. My wife died on the 20th March 2023 so lift not used daily since then. When engineer visited on 4th September 2024 he reported after a quick inspection no fault found except that I had already switched off the lift by key before his visit (news to me) However a few days after his visit lift not working again. Visiting engineer (Mark) on 8th September 2024 spent around two hours investigating problems (replacing main electronic board, batteries, cleaning rail etc. Advised me stairlift restored) Why couldn’t the previous engineer on the 4th September 2024 have spent more time investigating the real problems as discovered by MARK LEE, who impressed me more than other previous visiting engineers. I have payed £75 call out and £55 batteries on two occasions. Visiting family ,friends and neighbours have not been very impressed by ABLEWORLD

All stairlifts that we install come with 1 year labour warranty and depending on the make and model of the stairlift, the manufacturing parts warranty ranges between 2-5 years. Any manufacturing faults that occur during this period are covered under the warranty free of charge. Batteries are a consumable item and therefore, if the lift has been turned for a period of time, then unfortunately, this can deplete the batteries. We are sorry to hear that on the most recent reported issue with your stairlift that it was not fully resolved on the first visit. On occasion the batteries can be recovered once the stairlift is back on charge. We do our upmost to avoid charging for batteries unnecessarily, if the batteries do not recover and a return visit is required within a few days, we will only charge for the batteries and not the repeated call out. We recommend to all of our customers that they have their stairlift serviced annually to keep their stairlift in the best work condition. We do appreciate your feedback as we are always working towards improving the service we provide and to reduce the number of callouts for our customers. Take care, Ableworld

Delightful engineer/fitter, Mark Lee. Knowledgeable, efficient, tidy, great communicator. Arrived within stated time frame, explained everything that he was doing. When he needed a replacement part he went away then returned with said part. Demonstrated how to use the stairlift, showed me the safety features and what to do if and when. Very happy with the service, and with the instalment. I highly recommend this company.

This is the first time I have felt it necessary to research what aids might improve my ability to get out and about since my medical condition has deteriorated. Initially my wife and I used Which to research the best lightweight mobility scooters and armed with this information we visited Ableworld’s local branch in Christchurch. Both David and Eddie were most helpful without applying pressure tactics advised what would best suit my needs and insisted I try the scooter and explained all the features and safety measures to ensure I was happy to proceed with purchasing the scooter and in addition a lightweight wheelchair. The engineer Lee called to assess the job and arrived on time. He gave impartial advice with all options explained including cost. The job was awarded and a time given which was very quick. Lee actioned the job efficiently and effectively. He explained how to use the stairlift and how the warranty worked. The stairlift appears to be high quality and fairly priced. To anyone considering a Stair Lift I would recommend Ableworld without hesitation. They are competitive and thoroughly professional and customer focused. Mark B came to do our survey and quotation He was extremely helpful and explained all our options as an Engineer and not a pushy salesman. We had done some previous research but were impressed so we placed our order next day. Engineer Mark L arrived on the 30th March to install our lift. He was a very knowledgeable person and made sure we were completely satisfied with lift and took time to ensure we knew how to operate lift. Both engineers are a credit to Ableworld and follow the companies customer focused ideals and were a pleasure to deal with and have in our home.

Mark carried out the initial survey and gave me the quote, and Mark returned with Scott to fit the stairlift which had to be custom-made to allow for the curve on my staircase. I had a recon stairlift fitted by PAUL Ableworld engineer and was very impressed by the speed of his work and the way he carried out the job. He took me through all working parts of the lift and I could not be more pleased with his helpfulness. Leaflets were left with phone numbers in case I needed help but all the info given to me by PAUL was top class, And would like to thank him for the work he carried out. Due to the fact that I have been told I have cancer, it was important for me to have this lift fitted quickly and this was done within a few days at a great price. I have dealt with Ableworld before and would recommend them to family and friends. Once again thank you for delivery on the time and day stated.

Rang on Tue 14th Jun for quote for a stairlift, engineer visited on Wed 15th to measure and leave quote. I called the office in the afternoon of 15th to give the go ahead and the same engineer (Ian) was back in the morning of the 16th to fit the stair lift. Excellent customer relationship skills, ran through all the operational features of the stair lift and left everything clean and tidy. By the way, the office, both local and head office staff were also excellent and friendly. I would have no hesitation in recommending this company.

I contacted Ableworld about a stairlift ( Shinfield Rd Reading ) from that phone call I had a very friendly helpful service contact made 10-06-22 within a day Dan Calver came to assess what we needed he was100% knowledgeable about the lift we needed there was no pressure or sales patter, 2 days later Dan came on time and fitted our lift he was very friendly and polite he respected our home and there was no mess he did not hurry us in any way and made sure we were happy with the lift. I had a few arranged visits to discuss my personal needs and Able World was the only Company that could offer me what I needed without any extensive alterations to my house. My friend made the initial enquires for me whilst I was in hospital and found the Staff to be knowledgeable and very helpful, arranging the initial visit even whilst I wasn't at home. After looking at all the information about what would be suitable and having a second home visit where my actual measurements were assessed we agreed on the most suitable lift. Due to the lack of space they supplied and fitted a perch and ride stairlift at a very reasonable price and I also took out the five year service and warranty plan which has given me so much peace of mind. Another advantage of this lift is that it does not fix to the wall but to the staircase so there was a minimum of disruption caused and the whole fitting process was completed within a few hours. I found the whole experience with Able World very easy and I am confident that the right choice of stairlift has been made with the help of all their expertise. I would highly recommend this Company.

I have had an updated new straight stairlift fitted last week via my local Stafford Branch. Mason their engineer came out initially to measure up and advise regarding most suitable stairlift for my weight. He also spent a long time explaining different service options I could purchase to cover services and potential breakdown. Mason did not pressure me into ordering on that day and he left me with loads of information and a proper printed quote. Mason came to fit my stairlift and he was extremely polite and very respectful of my property. He took time to go through how to use the controls and made sure that I tried it for comfort incase I needed any adaptations. He is a credit to Ableworld as he demonstrated a very caring and professional approach to his work. I would be more than happy to recommend Ableworld on the basis of the quality of the chair and stairlift but above all the exceptional service received by Mason.

We had a stairlift fitted, the fitter was Simon Barnes who had previously visited to survey. Arrival was prompt and the work was carried out to a high standard. The fitter was on a learning curve with a new invoicing system which had been implemented that day, however he coped with it admirably. The work was carried out as agreed and to the quoted price. Detailed instructions on operation were given and user manual left along with details of aftercare and helpline. All in all a most satisfactory job and we would recommend the company. Simon, the fitter was most courteous and helpful.

Round inside an hour to take measurements and discuss prices and options. Straightforward staircase. No curves or corners. Back and fitted by early Tuesday afternoon. Courteous. Clean and tidy. Visited the Ableworld branch in Wigan. Had phoned a few days earlier as there were two specific scooters I was interested in. When I arrived the lady remembered my call and took me to the two scooters - she’d put them together for comparison. I immediately realised they were completely wrong for me. We had a discussion about what I wanted, etc... and she recommended two other scooters and I chose one of those - have to admit, the colour played a huge part in my choice :). She also moved the scooter to enable me to try it, even let me take it outside to the large car park and get a good trial run. Then showed me how to dismantle the scooter (to fit in the car boot) and reassemble it. We arranged a delivery date/time that suited me. On delivery, she once again showed me how to dismantle/reassemble the scooter and ran through all the controls etc. Made sure I felt confident with all the controls before she left. Gave me her phone details in case I had questions after she’d left. Summary: excellent customer service and product knowledge. Helpful, caring, professional. Cannot praise Ableworld and their staff enough. Highly recommended.

A few weeks back my dad purchased a mobility scooter from your branch in Stockton on tees. The lady in the store that day was extremely helpful and informative and nothing was too much trouble. My parents then came to visit me in the North West and brought the scooter minus the keys. I called the call centre number who then has a lady from the Stockton branch call me back and advised that she could contact the Wigan branch and ask if they had the keys for the make and model scooter my dad had purchased. She did this and then arranged a staff member from Wigan branch to contact me which they did and I obtained a spare key the very next day by visiting the store. I would just like to drop this email to thank all concerned for their help in both the purchase and arrangement of the keys for me they were so very helpful and extremely friendly. The lady in Stockton branch went over and above to help.

I first contacted Ableworld when I received a flyer through the door I contacted them a survey was done on Tuesday 21st April nice presentation easy to understand was told stairlift could be fitted on the Thursday 23rd. Sure enough engineer turned up as promised Steve and fitted the stairlift work was excellent, no mess. Knew exactly what he had to do when finished cleared up everything showed us how it worked. Explained everything. As wife tested it left us an instruction book saying any problems call number must say been a life saver for disabled wife as problems with stairs. Would recommend Ableworld to anyone great service.

After having various companies come out to see my mum it was the engineer who worked for Ableworld that made the decision easy for us. Chris Ryan was not only very professional and knowledgeable he was also very caring towards my mum. Even when I had a problem about the instalation of the cable Chris fixed this for us. I needed a stairlift quickly following a fractured foot bone and arthritic knee. Tom came to measure up and quote, carried out the survey and fitted the lift himself with help from another engineer. It was good always to deal with the same person, and he was always friendly and on time. The office was easy to contact and helpful with their response to questions. The quote was accurate and fairly priced, and the job was completed in a few hours, leaving no mess whatsoever. I look forward to staying in my home for many more years, now that I am able to get upstairs easily. I shall certainly recommend Ableworld to my friends.

Glyn, the only person we met from Ableworld, did an estimate and did not push for us to order, which is good. He also did the final measurements and placed an order in a professional manner. Glyn also came to fit the stair lift on 29th May, and worked alone (we feel it was a 2 man job), but did an excellent job and left the site very tidy, all rubbish removed. Glyn is an excellent employee, in our opinion.

As mobility problems increased, we considered buying a stairlift but knew nothing about them. A call to Ableworld provided us with all the information we needed & we decided to go for a Simplicity 950 straight. A fitting appointment was made & the engineer, Symon, arrived. All the 'ins & outs' were discussed with us before any work commenced. Symon carried out an excellent installation, straightforward with little mess even though a handrail had to be removed. Everywhere was left clean & tidy. The only disappointment was that there was no choice of seat colour for this model but that's just a minor issue. The stairlift has made such a difference as we now have the whole house open to us again, not just downstairs. We were so impressed with Symon. Having many years of experience, he is extremely knowledgeable about mobility issues & genuinely cares that needs are met by the product. Very professional with a friendly & approachable manner. He is a credit to you. Thank you & well done, Ableworld! Note: Prior to phoning Ableworld, we had contacted two other stairlift suppliers for brochures/information. Very slow response - the information arrived after our installation had been completed.

I visited our local Ableworld store with a view to purchasing a stair lift for my wife who has mixed dementia having become very unstable on her feet. The staff were extremely helpful and demonstrated the products they had to offer. The Simplicity Stair lift was deemed ideal for our requirements and within an hour we had an engineer visit to check our house and to explain what was involved. The installation was carried out in a very professional and friendly manner and demonstrated entirely to our satisfaction. A follow up call was received from head office to check everything was OK.

Having raised a query on Friday 7th Dec we were visited by the engineer Glyn on Saturday 8th and knowing my wife’s urgent needs the stairlift was fitted on Wednesday 12th by Glyn and an assistant. Admittedly our lift was straightforward, no bends, but the professionalism shown all along was exceptional. Clearly it is still early days but we have confidence that based on what we have seen to date that any problems will receive the same level of attention. Very impressed and would happily recommend Ableworld.

We started looking for a stairlift on a Thursday, the Staff at Crewe store were helpful, pleasant and efficient. They arranged a representative to some out Friday who measured up and gave us the best option to suit our needs and the prices for new or used or rental. No pressure placed on us, we ordered with the office the next day and our stairlift was installed on Monday, took a couple of hours, was professionally installed, no mess and everything explained to us. The engineer was a credit to the Company. We have had a follow up call from the office, all the staff very pleasant. We would recommend this Company.

I visited Ableworld in Stockport to enquire about a stairlift for my mum. The staff were very friendly and explained the various options. A fitter came to measure the stairs and was very professional and didn't try to pressure us in to buying. He left details and we decided to buy a reconditioned stairlift which was fitted within five days. I was very impressed how quickly this could be done. The fitter arrived on time and we were very pleased with his work and manner.

As you can see I was delighted with service given. We were called about an hour before fitter arrived. He was pleasant and courteous and got straight on to the job. When finished he cleared away all packaging etc and completed paperwork etc. Excellent service job well done.
