Specialists in all aspects of tree surgery, from planting to stumpgrinding in Sheffield and surrounding areas. We have a proven track record of excellence in both the commercial and domestic markets.
A good arborist (more commonly known as a tree surgeon) understands how important it is to take care of your trees, garden and property. We at Acme Arb, Sheffield, take great pride in providing a professional service at all times. We became Arboricultural Association Approved Contractors in 2015 to show our commitment to high standards of tree maintenance and customer care for both domestic and commercial.
To help us to do this, and for your peace of mind, we issue our unique written work plans before any tree cutting commences. This includes all work requested in detail, waste clearance agreement, our customer policy along with details of our insurance and quotation price.

We called ACME for advice on dealing with an awkwardly situated alder tree that appeared to be in danger of falling over. We were pleased with the advice we received and, although sad to lose the tree, arranged for it to be taken down. We were delighted with the professional way in which the tree was felled and were particularly relieved at the absence of the usual horrendous chain saw noise as a result of the electrically operated saws. We were able to retain some of the logs and also some of the chipped wood for use as garden mulch. All in all, the service was excellent from beginning to end. We would recommend ACME without reservation and will certainly be using them again for any future tree maintenance work.

I arranged a crown reduction with ACME Arb - they had come recommended by a neighbour. The quote was arranged quickly and they were able to fit me in at a time that suited me. The men came at 8am, very polite and tidy, did a good job and were finished by 11. The work is wel done and there is so little mess you wouldn't believe they'd been. Very happy.

This is the 2nd time we have used Acme Arb, and we were very pleased both times with the great job they do. We had a weeping willow cut back quite severely. I like the fact they consult at intervals, just to check the next cut will be where we want, to give the desired effect. They are very knowledgeable and willing to share this. Very pleasant and helpful and did a great job tidying up too.

What an amazing company! They removed two extremely large trees from my garden. Acme Arb liaised with the local council to obtain permission and their quotation was surprisingly reasonable. The staff were friendly and extremely professional and left the site cleaner than when they started. They took care to clear up foliage that had fallen into a neighbour's garden and removed all traces of the trees from the shared driveway. It was obvious that these young men have immense pride in their work. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this company and would give them six stars if I could.

They came to give a quote on the day and time agreed. The price was if anything a bit less than I was expecting. One of their teams was available straight away, as they had to abandon a job because the tree involved contained nesting birds, They came round and removed a tall willow quickly and without fuss, and tidied up afterwards. From my first contact call with Collette in the office , I can only say that this company were completely professional. The job required two very large yew trees, as tall as the house, to be reduced to stumps. Room to lower the branches and trunks was at a premium and one tree overhung a porch/conservatory. The task was performed with exceptional competence and to my mind entirely safely. Having completed the job, the area was completely cleaned of any chippings etc. I had full confidence in them from the moment that they arrived and have absolutely no hesitation in stating that they would be my first contact for further work and that I would highly recommend them.

Highly recommend ACME ARB They came out to quote for work to be completed at 2 different sites. The quotes were very competitive compared to others we received. I had a silver birch at the end of the drive that needed removing. I was mesmerised at how efficient and polite the two chaps were. They were methodical in their approach and when I came out to talk to them, they stopped work immediately and listened to what I had to say. At the end of the day they tidied up and were even going down the street 'hoovering' up any debris. Unfortunately, their grinder broke trying to grind out a very large stump in an awkward position but they soon returned to complete the job. Communication with the office was brilliant. I must say I was very impressed with the overall service from this company. You do not often get this kind of service these days. I would have no hesitation in highly recommending their services.

Acme Arb have been excellent to deal with from start to finish. We had a very large conifer in the garden which was taken down in around four hours. They took great care removing the tree so as to keep any damage to surrounding plants to an absolute minimum. They did a great job removing all the waste material - there was hardly any evidence that a large tree had been felled! Overall, a very professional and courteous service and at a very competitive price too. I would have no hesitation in using their services again and recommending to family and friends.

We had challenges with access to the back garden but Geoff visited and put our minds at rest that the job could be completed. The guys arrived on time on the agreed day and did a fantastic job of removing 3 leylandii hedges (one particularly overgrown) and cleaned up afterwards leaving no mess. And all carried out within current social distancing guidelines. Highly recommended.

From the response to the initial query for a quote through to completion of work, Acme have excelled in their professionalism and communication. Acme showed remarkable patience with working with a third party and kept us fully informed throughout. The work itself on removing two incredibly large poplar trees with exceptionally difficult access was bang on schedule and carried out with no fuss whatsoever. And the clean up! Wow!! My neighbour (who was not the third party btw!) was super pleased with the resulting benefits to her garden. Were they the cheapest quote? This is the second year I've bought logs for the woodburner from these guys and on both occasions the wood was: - delivered promptly - well seasoned - a good mix containing a generous share of hard wood - very neatly stacked in the woodshed (well worth the extra cost, especially if access is a bit tricky)

I used Acme to remove a tree from outside my property. They came and checked out the tree first before providing a quote and were quick to note the problems I was having with it. We were pleased with the initial response and promptness of carrying out the survey and providing the quotation. We had a 40-year-old scots pine that was in the way of widening our gateway and drive. The team turned up on time, introduced themselves and confirmed what work was to be carried out. Despite appalling weather, they had removed the tree and ground down the stump by mid-afternoon, clearing up as they went. A great result - thank you to everyone at Acme Arb.

A team of three took down a large London Plane tree that had been planted far too close to our house. They managed to extricate the many telephone wires from the upper branches without any damage and brought the whole thing down within hours. They cleared all the debris and sawdust from my and my neighbours' properties, leaving just a stump cut off at ground level. Highly recommended.

I contacted ACME, principally to see if they sold un-split and/or split seasoned hardwood and/or softwood logs. they do all four variations. Within 24 hours I had a "van"* load (3 cubic metres** of (two-year) seasoned un-split wood comprising a mix of hard and softwood (mostly hardwood) * for van read tipper-truck! ** for 3 cubic metres read 3 cubic metres, plus The team was very helpful on inquiry, very responsive in terms of delivery, very reliable in terms of delivery time, the logs are in my opinion excellent value and seasoned means 'seasoned' I recommend ACME logs Neil in S8
