I, Alan Mack have over 20 years’ experience in heating. All our engineers have a minimum of 10 years knowledge. We specialise in boiler repair, installation and maintenance. Having worked in the industry I have pretty much seen it all from good to bad repairs and installations.

We will advise on the most cost effective and efficient type of system for your property. Our goal is to install or maintain a heating systems that will running at the optimum efficiently to save on fuel consumption which means lesser fuel bills for our customers during boiler life span.

We are up to date with all the latest products available to us on the market. We feel it’s very important to stay with the times and offer all available products to us.

Let’s be honest a new boiler is usually an expected cost and most haven’t had an allowance in place. The products we use vary but we only insist on leading brands such as Worcester Bosch, Valliant or Viessmann in regards to boiler to which we can offer extended warranties on.

Tricky pipework transfer from communal tank to mains

We had a job we'd been putting off for a while. Very old and fragile pipes connected to a communal tank needed to be disconnected and capped off, and new copper pipework needed to be run through from the mains. There were a few risks involved with this one, but there was no one else I would have trusted with it. Alan has serviced our boiler a couple of times and done another excellent plumbing job for us, and was the only person we considered for this job. Alan talked us through all the potential risks and gave us a competitive quote. He arrived on time and got the job done perfectly. An added bonus is that he's approachable, friendly and always takes the time to answer any questions you may have. I can't recommend him highly enough.

Replacement Boiler

We needed a new boiler and I contacted several suppliers, including asking for local recommended engineers and reading the Which? reports. I contacted Alan as he was recommended on Which? and he was very helpful, explaining everything clearly and patiently. He was very busy, but he fitted us into his schedule, came to check out the system and was able to give us a quote immediately, and confirmed by text. When the work was done, it was efficient and everything was cleaned up afterwards and he did not charge for checking out another problem which he investigated for us. Appointments were kept punctually and he called if delayed. Subsequently, we have had a leak in a joint connecting to the original pipes which he responded to and fixed very quickly, suggesting a long term solution. His prices were competitive, I valued his comments and I would have no hesitation in recommending him.

Renew Heating and Hot Water System

As Which subscriber, when our existing 15-year-old boiler gave up and left us with no hot water or heating on 8th Jan 2022 we knew we had to replace the system. This was some of the coldest weather so far this winter. We checked online for approved traders and system manufacturers. We selected Worcester Bosch and chose what appeared to be two models which would suit our requirements. We then contacted Alan and explained our situation. Alan came to see us on Monday midday on10th Jan and looked at our requirements, advising us as to what was required to be done and to replace nine radiators as well as our boiler. He quoted us for replacing the boiler only and for replacing both boiler and radiators. When the chosen boiler could not be readily sourced Alan procured the latest Greenstar 8000 boiler and was able to start work on the Tuesday 18th Jan leaving us with hot water on Tuesday evening and finishing the install on Wed 19th Jan with full heating. At all times Alan was careful not to leave any mess and the pipework on all fittings was extremely neat. Alan gave us an explanation of how the boiler functioned and told us what to look out for regarding bleeding and topping up the system. All has been working well for a week now and we appreciate our newfound comfort. I would have no hesitation in recommending Alan Mack services to friends and neighbours.

I called Alan at a time of great vulnerability, during the pandemic in 2020. My wife is severely disabled, and we were shielding both her and her elderly mother. After a number of attempts to resolve our heating issues - even by a large, well known British supplier - our heating was still not working effectively. Our radiators were also beginning to pinhole, and there were other odd issues that no one would come out for. We had just said goodbye to a plumber who had hospitalised himself by not wearing appropriate safety gear. Then along came Alan Mack. He was friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and helpful to the point of explaining everything I didn't understand, in terms I could. He took a single day to resolve every plumbing issue we had, route our pipes properly, replace 7 radiators, and convert our gravity-fed system to pressurised. To my shame, it has taken me more than a year to get around to leaving this review. We have never had to call him back, but we would not hesitate to call him again, or to recommend his services to anyone.

Alan replaced our boiler, the-routing our flue. He explained in advance what our choices were and put us under no pressure. He kept to arranged appointment times, calling if he was going to be delayed. The work was done, explaining things throughout and he cleaned up after himself. We had three radiators that were found to have faulty old parts that unexpectedly had to be replaced. It was a bit of a surprise but he used parts from the smaller two to fix the larger to keep costs down (they were so old he couldn’t get new parts) We found Alan to be reliable and communicative. He’s happy to take the time to answer questions and I would definitely recommend him.

When I made contact with Alan (after finding him on Which?) about providing and installing a replacement boiler, he was quick to arrange a visit. He talked through the work thoroughly, explaining options and potential issues. He then immediately provided a clear summary and estimate of the proposed work. Once we had selected Alan, he reconfirmed the quote and booked a date a few days later. Alan and his colleague arrived as arranged and worked through the day completing the work as agreed. They stopped only to discuss options and issues, undertaking some additional work at Alan's own cost after some complications arose. After a long day (9.30 am-7.30 pm) Alan took us through the installation in detail; tidied up and removed the rubbish, leaving us with a working and professional-looking boiler installation. It can be disruptive having people working in the house but Alan and his colleague were both highly personable and professional and made the experience as easy as possible.

I have used Alan before on a boiler repair a while back and needed a complete house heating system put in my new house I bought last year Alan has been working here for for about 7 months. He's installed a new boiler and cylinder underfloor heating and a pumped system to increase my pressure like he suggested he's also installed 3 new bathrooms for me. His services and recommendation has been outstanding. He's gone above and beyond with his service and even helped me with recommend other excellent tradesmen when I was I stuck or let down. It was exhausting this project but working with Alan was a relief and had total confidence when he carried out what he said he would do. To say I'm happy would be an understatement. Will always use his services.

Alan Mack recently installed a new boiler for us at my elderly mum’s property after she had been let down by Homeserve and had been without heating and hot water for a month. For a whole variety of reasons, it was an awkward and difficult job, not least because lack of use for a month of the 40yr old heating system resulted in a blockage that was extremely difficult to fix. Alan went above and beyond to resolve the problem, persisting with a whole range of potential solutions, so committed was he to leaving my mum with a fully functioning system, which in the end he achieved. We were very grateful for his persistence and his transparency and integrity in coming to a fair price to cover his additional unforeseen costs. We would not hesitate to recommend Alan, who we also found to be very competitively priced compared to British Gas.
