Alan came to fit a wireless thermostat, service the boiler and balance the radiators. He was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and completed all the work efficiently and quickly while also checking over the whole system. He also helped us to understand the whole heating system and maintenance requirements better than we previously did. Very satisfied and will use him for some more work in the near future.

I wanted the old electrical heating element in my hot water tank replaced. Alan warned me that, because of the age of the tank, there could be problems in removing the old element. Nevertheless, I decided to go ahead. Although removal and replacement of the heating elements was not straightforward, with perseverance and skill, the job was successfully completed within the agreed price range.

What I like about Alan is he is honest and unlike other quotes we had for a new boiler, advised us that we didn't need to replace it as it was a simple repair. Thus us the second time we've used him and both times he has been, friendly with helpful advice about other plumbing issues we've asked about. Alan also gets back to us with an appointment and keeps to it and let us know when he was about to arrive, all of which is very much appreciated.

Replacement of in built stove

Alan attended our property and replaced a faulty in built stove with a new one. Alan was excellent with his communications and arrived at the time agreed . Although this was not a big job it was was potentially tricky and the work was carried out without fuss. Alan tested the installed the stove and supplied the associated paperwork. All works were carried out on time and budget. The works areas were left neat and tidy.

After unsatisfactory service, lack of communication from my previous heating engineer, and £500 poorer on various 'small' repairs over the past 18 months, I found Alan on Which? I called him Tuesday evening, he came round Wednesday morning to review the situation, advised new boiler (old one being 10 plus years old), new flue and thermostat required, gave a very competitive quote and had the new boiler installed by Friday morning. He explained everything in layman's terms, so I felt confident with what he was doing. His work was very neat and he left the work area spotless afterwards. I was so impressed. Thank you Alan!

Alan installed my boiler a few weeks ago and I am extremely pleased with his level of professionalism. The installation came about as a result of my boiler breaking down during the lockdown period. Alan was very understanding and respectful with regards to the social distancing, but still carried out his chores deligently. He took his time in explaining what needed to be done prior to, during and after the installation. This was certainly what was appreciated the most about his work. He was also very tidy and fairly priced. My new boiler is working perfectly now and I would recommend Alan to anyone considering a boiler installation.

Alan Mack recently installed a new boiler for us at my elderly mum’s property after she had been let down by Homeserve and had been without heating and hot water for a month. For a whole variety of reasons, it was an awkward and difficult job, not least because lack of use for a month of the 40yr old heating system resulted in a blockage that was extremely difficult to fix. Alan went above and beyond to resolve the problem, persisting with a whole range of potential solutions, so committed was he to leaving my mum with a fully functioning system, which in the end he achieved. We were very grateful for his persistence and his transparency and integrity in coming to a fair price to cover his additional unforeseen costs. We would not hesitate to recommend Alan, who we also found to be very competitively priced compared to British Gas.

Renew Heating and Hot Water System

As Which subscriber, when our existing 15-year-old boiler gave up and left us with no hot water or heating on 8th Jan 2022 we knew we had to replace the system. This was some of the coldest weather so far this winter. We checked online for approved traders and system manufacturers. We selected Worcester Bosch and chose what appeared to be two models which would suit our requirements. We then contacted Alan and explained our situation. Alan came to see us on Monday midday on10th Jan and looked at our requirements, advising us as to what was required to be done and to replace nine radiators as well as our boiler. He quoted us for replacing the boiler only and for replacing both boiler and radiators. When the chosen boiler could not be readily sourced Alan procured the latest Greenstar 8000 boiler and was able to start work on the Tuesday 18th Jan leaving us with hot water on Tuesday evening and finishing the install on Wed 19th Jan with full heating. At all times Alan was careful not to leave any mess and the pipework on all fittings was extremely neat. Alan gave us an explanation of how the boiler functioned and told us what to look out for regarding bleeding and topping up the system. All has been working well for a week now and we appreciate our newfound comfort. I would have no hesitation in recommending Alan Mack services to friends and neighbours.
