Aldridge & Sons are a company that we have used several times before for roofing and similar work. When I asked John Aldridge to recommend a company to undertake the re-pointing I was delighted to learn that Aldridge Sons could do this for us. From estimate to completion of the work, the team worked carefully and were very thorough. The team leader was happy to answer any questions I had as work progressed. The site was always cleaned at the end of the day, and on completion everything was cleaned thoroughly. There were no hidden or additional costs. Aldridge and Sons recently replaced leaking flat roof on kitchen extension, whilst also bringing it up to date with current regulations. Estimate was clear and thorough and competitively priced. All members of the team were polite and courteous and worked efficiently in the very cold weather to get the old roof stripped back and replaced quickly to ensure it was water tight, coming back on the Saturday to complete the work. Very happy with the work, would recommend.

I found Aldridge and Sons via the National Federation of Roofers website. John Aldridge came to examine the roof, gave me a very detailed description of what would be needed and the quote arrived in a timely manner. The scaffolding was erected very efficiently. John's team then arrived to carry out the work. The team leader kept me informed each day of exactly what was being done, often showing me photographs, as the roof was partially hidden by the scaffolding. When they left the site each day everything was tidied away and the paving in the front garden and the patio at the back were swept clean of any debris. They always turned up on time and were a pleasure to have working on-site. The work involved new insulation, roofing felt, batons, tiles, soffits and guttering. I am delighted with the result.

In January 2023, I had a new house roof, gutters and downpipes, from Aldridge and Sons. They typed up a detailed list of work they were going to do. I only had to wait about 2 months, for the work to begin. (That's a good sign. If a roofer says they can start tomorrow, that's a bad sign.) I've been waiting 2 months to write this review as there has been almost no heavy rain since then. The roof looks strong and is well done. The gutters and downpipes are not leaking. (The back gutter had leaked for at least 20 years and a string of cowboys from other companies failed to fix it.) The back wall was mouldy under the leaking gutter. It's now drying out and I'll be able to get it painted in the summer. The men from Aldridge and Sons did the whole thing in less than a week, in very cold weather. They arrived every day at about 8.00 a.m. and started work straightaway. They worked quietly, without shouting or playing music like other workers do. This kept the neighbours happy. They worked until about 3.00 p.m. As it was winter it was getting dark by then so they had to stop. They left the site tidy at the end of each day. Getting a new roof is a big undertaking. I'm confident I chose the right company for the job.

I had a loft conversion over October 2019 - January 2020 but the company involved went into liquidation and so the work was not finished properly. The project manager was helpful in getting things done, and I hoped that it would prove adequate, but problems emerged (despite being passed by Building Control) and I needed find a trustworthy and competent company to assess what was needed and do the remedial work. The ‘presenting problem’ was a leaking gutter but I anticipated that there was more to it than that. John Aldridge came to look and identified the issues clearly and comprehensively and subsequently sent a prompt, detailed and clear specification of what they proposed - this included other work that I knew was needed (eg pointing the chimney stack) and the specification was immediately amended to include an item we had discussed but had been omitted from the first version. The work was delayed because of rain and the team had to contend with frequent heavy rain throughout the job but managed to keep the inside dry. Hats off also to the scaffolders who put up a safe and solid structure in the pouring rain. I had enormous confidence from the care and attention to detail given to the work and the speed with which a couple of small issues were resolved quickly at the end of the job. I had been provided with a recommendation for Aldridge & Co and I have no hesitation in recommending them to others. I am so pleased to have a water-tight house again.

I had a front sloping tiled roof replaced. I was kept informed when job delayed because of storm, and the job went ahead continuously thereafter except slight delay whilst waiting for velux flashing. All men on site were cheerful, knowledgeable and competent. Scaffolding removed quickly and site left clear of rubbish. Aldridge were professional throughout and I am pleased with my choice. Ours was a big job – which included replacing the flat roof and large rooflight, renovating the fascias and soffits, replacing guttering and even decorating some of the upper windows whilst the scaffolding was up. Competitive and detailed estimate given for roof tile replacement due to spray foam insulation. The guys worked hard removing spray foam from timbers as well as removing old roof tiles with spray foam adhered to them. They did a fantastic job and my house with its new roof now looks very smart. I needed a new garage roof which would be capable of allowing natural light into the garage. The inspection and provision of an estimate was provided by John Aldridge. John was meticulous in conducting a detailed survey and gave me excellent advice as to how the work should be undertaken. We agreed a time when the work would be scheduled knowing it would take two weeks. The work commenced on time and was completed on schedule at the price stated in the estimate. The guys at Aldridges put a new rood on our Victorian house. They did an excellent job and retained the character of the original. John came to view my roofing problem very quickly, and immediately gave me confidence in his approach. Although I had to wait for a quotation whilst he was away, it was detailed, specific, and a fair price. When the team came to repair my roof, they were polite and their leader showed me what he would do when I climbed up the scaffolding to view the problem. They finished in one day, and left the site clean, taking all the rubbish with them. The next day, the scaffolding was removed whilst I was out, so I didn't have to wait in. The scaffolding company involved also seemed very professional.
