My 18 year-old Bosch washing machine broke down on a Tuesday. I rang AJ Appliances and the engineer arranged to come on the Wednesday (he even suggested coming late Tuesday!). True to his word, he came at about 8:45pm on the Wednesday and fixed the machine quickly by servicing the motor. He also reassured me that an 18-year old machine is probably better built than a 3-year old model and worth repairing when it breaks down. The service was friendly and very professional. I cannot recommend him too highly. He is first choice from now on.

Quick response, professional, and did the job quickly. I knew what the problem was, but after doing research, it needed a pro to ensure a proper job done. AJ worked quickly to get the machine back on line within minutes. No fuss repair, worth the money, a lot of stress avoided.

Quick response following report of a faulty washing machine with a fair price for call-out. Arrived at the agreed time and despite some issues removing some rusted screws and subsequently having some difficulty in accessing the insides of the washing machine he persisted, resolved the issue and got my washing machine working again. I have a Bosch Series 2 washing machine that's only just out of it's 2-year guarantee period that suddenly stopped spinning clothes properly. Given how relatively new it is I expected this to be a minor fault like a blocked pipe. I requested a call out and was kept informed as to when an appointment could be arranged. The engineer took the time to talk me through what was being done as he worked at every stage. It transpired that the machine was suffering from a failure that he felt would be too expensive for him to repair. Many other tradespeople would have tried to talk me into a costly repair job, but I was given a refreshingly honest answer and spared all this. I have to say this honest approach is really rather refreshing in a tradesperson. I was then advised to file a claim against the retailer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and I'm delighted to say that the company in question has agreed to provide me with a partial refund based on the assessment of this trader! All this without having to spend potentially hundreds of pounds on expensive diagnostic tests etc. One more point. When paying via bank transfer I overpaid by £10. I hadn't noticed this myself, but was promptly alerted to it the same day. Now that's honesty. This is easily the best trade experience I have had in many years. If you have a problem with your washing machine or other appliance, do yourself a favour and give them a call. I wouldn't go anywhere else, and nor should you.

Arrived on time next day for simple repair, quickly replaced broken part, no fuss, friendly guy, reasonable charges. Will use again.

Good response when I called - he phoned back within a few minutes of my leaving a message that our washing machine pump had failed. I had tried to unblock it myself but the pump cover was stuck. He said he hoped to come the same day. He didn't quite manage this, but he did come within 24 hours and fixed the problem on the first visit. He kept us informed of his expected arrival time. The call out charge was £95 which I consider reasonable, particularly now roads are so congested in west London. His clear advice was "this is a well made machine - no need to buy a new one, get this one fixed".

Amit was quick and efficient at establishing and sorting the problem. Didn't charge me for plumbing on top of his call-out fee, even though the problem was not the dishwasher itself but pipes. Highly recommended and now in my phone book.

Picked up call, messaged for address, came within 2hrs, changed door gasket (rubber) of the washing machine with ease then tidied up.

This is the second time l have used Amit, this time to repair a kitchen extractor fan and again have been impressed with how quickly he figures and sorts out the problem. The fan element failed in our 14-year-old Smeg oven. I contacted AJ and a couple of other firms. One of the other firms tried to sell me a new oven saying that they don't advise keeping or repairing an oven past 9 years. Josh had the part in his van, came at the agreed time and fitted it efficiently. We roasted some chicken and baked some fish tonight in the oven so I'm a happy customer. His rates which were highish but were pretty much the same as those quoted by other companies so basically the going rate. He came on the same day, was pleasant and communicated well. I'd definitely use him again and recommend him. He also said if there were any problems relating to the repair I should call him back.

Our 15-year old Bosch washing machine stopped spinning. I called AJ and knew instantly what the problem would be (and he was proved right!). He offered two appointments and came promptly at the agreed time. He was engaging and open at all time and was not fazed by problems of access to the machine. He already had the replacement parts and fitted them quickly and efficiently. He showed me the worn parts and explained the problem. He charged me exactly what he had estimated over the phone. Bosch washing machine had the famous "E18" error. I cleared the front filter but was still showing error. Called Amit and he came next day and diagnosed that there was a blockage in the pipework behind the machine. He removed the gunk and also tried to improve how the less than optimal pipework sat to keep water flowing more easily. Gave me a price on the phone, but charged a bit more because the pipework was not directly behind the machine. Clearly knows his stuff and would recommend.

We were having an issue with the temperature in our freezer. We made a swift appointment with Josh. He quickly worked out the problem and fixed it right away, no hassle. Highly recommended.

Our fridge stopped working during Lockdown! There was a problem with the door, as soon as possible Josh came to sort it. It proved more difficult than he thought, due to the fridge design, but he found a solution. Thank you, would definitely contact him again for future problems.

Amit kindly came out to inspect some issues I was having with the washing machine. He was punctual, professional, knowledgeable and very helpful. This trader gave first class service. I have not used him before. He answered my original enquiry promptly and advised me of his charges for a call out not knowing what the problem was. These I accepted over the phone and he gave me an approximate time for his visit the next day. Just prior to his due time he rang to say he was on his way. After a quick inspection and conducting a number of tests he was able to diagnose the fault - the motor brushes had worn away and needed replacing. Fortunately he had suitable replacements in his van and repaired the machine during the visit. All done within an hour. I was so impressed I added a bonus to his invoice.

Came promptly to repair oven (it was tripping the fusebox) & dishwasher (washes but not heating or drying). Both 8yrs old. Replaced element in oven but said dishwasher repair would be expensive. I rarely use it now so left it. £160 labour & element. Oven working fine now. Helpful, friendly.

Tumbler dryer was making noises but no working. Checked on youtube on how to fix it, then rang Appliance Repair. He came the same day, and after a quick diagnosis fitted a new capacitor, and now its running sweetly. Happy OAP.

Reattached door on dishwasher, straightened it and fixed hinge springs. It had been in a bad way after we made a mess of trying to change a soap dish ourselves. Turned up on Sunday at short notice, friendly, did an excellent job. We'd use him again.

I had a washer-drier that was dead, kaput. Frustratingly, the machine was just outside its guarantee period! Josh came out quickly, diagnosed the problem and solved it very quickly too. Very happy, I would definitely use Josh again and would be happy to recommend him to anyone.

I contacted Appliance Repair company to repair a Siemens oven. He responded promptly. After removing the oven he said there was something wrong with the electronics and it would not be economic to repair. Cost of call out £75. We used Which? to find a suitable replacement oven with a pyrolytic lining, cost £714. Before buying the replacement oven I decided to get a second opinion. The second repair engineer responded promptly and said the element required replacing. The total cost £50 call out charge plus the element. The oven is now working. Based on my experience Appliance repair is not competent to repair an oven.

My 10 year old dishwasher was not working and I was about to buy a new one when I decided to contact A J Appliances. And a good job I did - Josh was excellent with a quick diagnosis and fixed it there and then, saving me about £300. Josh is very knowledgeable, professional and trustworthy. I am very happy with the service, the machine is working as good as new, and I have no hesitation in recommending A J Appliances. I will definitely be using them again.

I am happy to recommend Josh as a washing machine engineer for the following four reasons. 1. By the end of the (first and only) visit, my washing machine was working again. Although no spare parts were needed, I saw that Josh carried a wide range of parts in his van, which would have reduced the prospect of a second visit being required. 2. Speedy and efficient service. Josh was willing to attend on the same day as my first call to him. Although this was not convenient for me, he was also able to attend the following day. 3. Helpful advice on how to prevent the problem from recurring. Josh pointed out an issue with the plumbing for my appliances and explained how it was likely to cause issues in the future. He showed me how it might be fixed and was straightforward in suggesting that I could do the work myself if I wanted, rather than pay for a plumber. 4. Fixed price. Although the price was not cheap (£120, partly reflecting the time taken to travel across London to my location), it was a fixed price (plus any parts that were required), whether or not a follow up visit was necessary. I prefer to know where I stand rather than risk being hit with unexpected charges or to fear that I am being ripped off by time wasting or unnecessary follow up visits. I expect that Josh will be my first choice, next time I need an appliance repair.

Needed washing machine fixed. Josh came round same day at agreed price. Sorted out repairs and finished all in the space of an hour. Excellent work and sorted out with no problems. Josh is a pleasure to use and really nice guy. Will be using A J Appliances again.

I found Josh through this site. I rang him around 4.00 p.m; by 6.00 he was round here. After a bit of trial and error, he was able to fix a problem with the light fitting on my Neff electric oven, and knew the background to what went wrong, so I can prevent future problems. I would definitely use him again -- he's a great example of the usefulness of this site.

I telephoned Amit at 8am and before 1pm he'd finished the job and I was able to use my washing machine again. He advised me how to stop the problem recurring (by emptying the filter regularly) and did not suggest any unnecessary new parts. He made sure to reposition the machine exactly where I wanted it and didn't leave any mess. I will ask him to help again with any more problems.

When our washing machine door would not open over the Christmas holiday period we were worried that it would take time to repair. Amit responded quickly and carefully assessed over the phone what the fault was. He asked me to check various things to see if I could sort out the problem and avoid having to call him out. When it became clear that there was a problem which he would have to visit to resolve, he checked he had all the necessary spares before attending. As soon as he could he attended, explained and demonstrated the fault, and repaired the machine. He then cleaned up afterwards. Very professional.

Initial contact with Josh was by 'phone on a Saturday afternoon. We continued dialogue by text message and by 7 pm we had determined that a home visit for the day after (Sunday) would be worthwhile and viable, with a fixed and reasonable quotation. Josh attended on the Sunday (after letting me know by text that he was on the way) and quickly identified the most likely solution, which turned out to he correct. Josh was professional, friendly and exceeded expectations by further advising on the safe continued use of the appliance. I had been let down by the organisation contracted to fix the appliance under guarantee, so was very pleased that Josh was able to address the issue without delay and at a very reasonable cost.

Had issues with water drainage from washer/dryer. Josh was able to come the very next day. He identified and resolved the issue within minutes. Would recommend AJ Appliances.

Our 15-year-old washer-dryer died mid-cycle, blowing fuses. I called Amit, and he was able to come & check it 2 days later. It was a blown heating element, and he had a replacement in his van. He also found that the pressure chamber was clogged, which was probably the root cause. So, after about an hour, we had a working machine, ready for a few more years' service. He's knowledgeable, quick and does what he says he'll do - what more can you ask?

My washing machine stopped spinning and I gave Josh a call having read other great reviews of his work. The reviews were right, he gave me very good advice over the phone to make sure it was worth attempting a repair (at no cost or benefit to himself) and when we decided it was worth fixing he was with me the next morning and brilliantly got the machine working again quickly and professionally. A lovely experience all round, very pleasant company, fast and tidy and I would not hesitate to recommend him.

I'd worked out the washing machine needed a new heating element and phoned Josh on the basis of reviews left on this site, very pleased I did. Called on Saturday and arranged for Sunday evening visit. Arrived within allocated time frame. Amit diagnosed the problem, showed me the warn out electrical connectors on the motor, replaced and refurbished the motor. I called on Sunday afternoon and he came round on Monday morning. Diagnosed the fault (a loose part), repaired it and showed me how to fix it myself if the fault reoccurred, all in about half an hour and for the cost of the call-out charge. Would definitely recommend.

I don't usually write reviews but the excellent reviews already written about Josh prompted me to contact him to repair a leaking dishwasher. He was professional and efficient in diagnosing the fault. I appreciated his honesty in explaining what was needed. He was most accommodating in planning his visit around my difficult time schedule. AJ was able to come on the same day I called him which was great because I was stuck with an old machine wired directly into the wall (not a plug) that the 'deliver, install, remove' men from Currys were not qualified to deal with. AJ investigated the electrics properly, made a useful modification to the connection for the new machine before installing it properly. He has 100% confidence in his own work and so do I. It was very reassuring to have someone who can see the bigger picture, has the skills and desire to do the best possible job, and the ability to explain it all to me clearly and courteously. That's surely worth paying for!

Called AJ appliances Tuesday afternoon and washing machine was fixed by Wednesday lunchtime, and at a great price too. Can't really ask for better than that.

I explained the problem with my partners dishwasher and agreed a price for the call out and repair of £75 plus cost of parts. The issue was ‘aqua flood’ as denoted by the machines warning light. This basically means the machine has a leak and it fills up a little chamber which cuts the machine out to stop substantial flooding. The engineer couldn’t remove all the panels to investigate properly and after a bit of fiddling around said the machine had a slow leak. He tipped the machine up to empty the flood chamber and said this should keep you going for a few months but look to replace the machine as it’s a cheap one. He then asked for £85 which was £10 more than agreed (£80 was paid). My partner used the machine and it broke down again within 30 minutes of the engineer leaving. I called the engineer and he said he would do some research on the brand and call back (no call back). I emailed the company and reminded them of their website wording which states the following; call out, diagnosis, fit part & machine repaired all for the one fixed call out charge. As the engineer was unable to identify the faulty part and no time was spent collecting and fitting a new replacement part, then approximately only one third of the service and usual time spent had been provided. As such I suggested that £40 for the call out was reasonable but a refund of the remaining £40 should be provided due to the uncompleted work. No reply and hence this review.

I found Josh through the Which? website. He diagnosed the issue with our washing machine quickly and gave good recommendations and options for the best way to proceed. Although there was a delay in parts delivery (not Josh's fault) he kept me updated throughout as to its delivery progress and once it arrived he came round and carried out the installation quickly and cleanly . I got in touch with AJ Appliances as the drum of our Hotpoint washing machine was shaking around (off balance) when spinning, regardless as to size of load. An on-phone suggestion of the bearings going proved to be all too accurate when Amit arrived and examined the machine - exacerbated by the gradual disintegration of the concrete counter-weight! Amit made a couple of suggestions as to a suitable replacement machine and then supplied and fitted the one of my choosing. All in all, highly satisfactory :-)

Washing machine lost power. Got it fixed and was also give additional information to get socket on wall looked at as I rent.

I phoned up in the morning and after a short exchange of texts, a visit was arranged for between 7-9 pm the same evening! I hadn't asked for such a quick response, but it was most welcome. Some water was leaking out from under the machine during each wash. Josh was unable to find any faulty component that might be causing the leak, although there was a blocked filter, and he surmised that the incoming water pressure was too high (as the machine is in a basement). He reduced the incoming pressure, and we can only assume that this was the problem, as the leak has stopped. He also dealt with a couple of minor issues, and commented that machines of our model and vintage last longer than more recent models. As no parts were required (the advice being that it wasn't worth spending a money on expensive parts for an old machine), we were just charged the call out fee as quoted when booking the visit. Josh was very efficient and knowledgeable and we would recommend this company.

Been having issues with my washing machine a for a number of weeks. Found Josh's number on this site and gave him a call, he asked some questions regarding the problem and came the next dat. When he arrived he immediately began troubleshooting the issue and within an hour it was all fixed. Saved me a lot of hassle and money of having to buy a new machine and very knowledgeable, would highly recommend.

On the third wash of the day the machine stopped with an error code, pumped itself out and refused to do anything else. F43 - motor fault. Rang AJ Appliances and Josh came the next morning, arriving when he said he would and fitting-in with our availability. He removed the motor, changed the brushes, gave it a thorough "clean & polish" and put it back - all working again and a 1-year warranty on the repair. Very happy and would certainly use again.

Phoned A J appliances, as our dishwasher was no longer getting the crockery clean, and we didn't fancy spending £600 on a new machine unless absolutely necessary. AJ turned up the same day, fitting us in between other calls. He diagnosed the problem very quickly, fixed it, then insisted on cleaning the top of the appliance and the floor before putting everything back. My washing machine broke down and was tripping off all the electricity downstairs when turned on. Josh was recommended to me and he responded straight away when I contacted him. He visited the next day and diagnosed and repaired the fault quickly. He had the part that was required to fix the fault in stock (in this case, the heating element) which was a real time saver. The price was reasonable and I would definitely recommend him. Josh provided useful aftercare advice and contacted me afterwards to check that the machine was working properly.

Having done the usual online washing machine diagnoses (manual drain, filter clean, pipes check) our machine still wasn't draining. I called Josh (having seen the reviews on Which?), he came within 3 hours (conveniently outside of work hours). I got the impression he's probably seen 1000 washing machines and can tell what's wrong just by looking at them. Sure enough years of contents of kids' pockets were cleaned out of the system (with the help of a manual pump under the machine). He checked and double checked that all was OK and was on his way within an hour. Great service and will definitely use again for all household appliances!

Josh came round and, after handling things very carefully and giving a very knowledgeable inspection, sorted out the problem. He was honest, kind, tidy and very experienced.

Unfortunately my washing machine was beyond repair, but he came on the same day I contacted him and provided me with good advice.

Josh came very quickly to sort out a washing machine installation that Domestic & General had failed to organize even though it has been paid for. He was available the same day and gave us a 1 hour time slot which was great. He was a neat & tidy worker, cleared up after himself & completed the job. Josh came the same day to fix my washing machine. Although the fault was not obvious, he persevered and got it started again. He cleared up afterwards and even 'phoned later to check all was going well. I would recommend him.

Excellent professional skills, polite, friendly and was able to reassure my mum and reduce her anxieties. Luckily he was able to repair the machine and did a great job for a very reasonable price. He also cleaned up after himself and left the area very tidy. I really can't rate josh high enough, it's so hard for the elderly to find workmen they can trust without getting ripped off by rouge traders !!!! I've used Josh's service a few times now, most recently to install a new washing machine and then to refit a filter for our fridge's cold water and ice machine. He is always prompt, knowledgeable and fairly priced - even coming back without charging extra when the dog ate a plastic washer and we needed to reorder!

I picked AJ (internet search) as a local appliance repair company with great reviews to help fix our dishwasher and keep me away from the washing up bowl after a Christmas dinner for our whole family! I was not let down. I phoned at 6.30pm and if only he had the right part to hand, our dishwasher would have been fixed within 2 hours of it breaking. As it was, I had to wait until the next day. We were very pleased with the service - the engineer was friendly and had the correct replacement part on hand so was able to fix it on the spot. Oven has been working perfectly since then. Found Appliance Repairs through Which Trusted Traders. Washing machine broken on Sunday, I feared a new machine. AJ came over Monday evening, quickly, efficiently and tidily diagnosed then refurbished a worn out motor. Washing machine up and running, working better than it has for a while. Had to work in a tight space, but no mess, no damage. Very happy customer.

I phoned on a Thursday morning expecting to have to wait to Friday for someone to come. He asked what time I was home from work and promised to arrive 20 minutes after that. He turned up when he said he would and sorted my immediate problem within half an hour. I had another issue but he did not have the part on his van. He came back the following day and fitted it and cured another issue I didn't know I had. as a bonus he fixed our kitchen tap too!

Josh arrived amazingly swiftly, within 15 minutes of my calling him one evening to deal with a washing machine leak. He took it apart and diagnosed that all seals were ok and the leak is a slow one that probably arises from wear and tear on a heavily used machine. He suggested that there is not much point in investing in repairs and that it is preferable to buy a new machine. He gave me some tips on how to empty the accumulating water and prevent it from tripping the cut-off switch. This will allow us to continue using the machine until we replace it. Such honest advice is very welcome and Josh is firmly on our list should we need any future appliance repairs.

Josh was very quick in replying at my call regarding my broken machine. As soon as he had the piece that needed to be replace he contacted me and came straight away even when he was having a very busy day, I truly recommend him and will pass his details to friends and family.

Dishwasher electric panel not working and dirty water not draining away ("One-Shot instant Drain Cleaner" ineffective). Called A J Appliances who did initial diagnosis over 'phone and called around that evening within narrow period, thus avoiding much waiting about. Electrical problem fixed satisfactorily and initial "clear run" of machine successful. Gave advice on approach to supplier in the event of further problem and Josh even kindly rounded down his fixed fee. Called Monday morning, and offered a two hour time slot that same afternoon to repair a Hotpoint oven that was blowing only cold air. Call out charges fully explained in advance. Heating element had to be replaced, and was charged a fixed fee for coming out and cost of parts. Just checked price of part online and think it was on the high side, but job was done immediately, which was what I needed for rental property with nice tenants.

My washing machine door broke on Saturday and I was unable to open it. After calling 9 other repair companies who were unable to attend the same day despite claiming 24/7 service, I was fortunate enough to call Josh. He diagnosed the problem over the phone, secured the parts and attend all within a couple of hours. My washing machine door is fixed and I am a happy customer. I will recommend him without hesitation.

My tumble dryer handle needed replacement. Spoke to Josh late on a Monday and it was fitted on Wednesday. Prompt, excellent service and reasonable cost: £65 call out fee, plus cost of the part. I would certainly recommend him.

Phoned at 8am and Josh fitted the visit in between other customers that morning. So helpful! As luck would have it, he found nothing wrong with the tenant's washing machine on checking it but said the tenant should phone him for advice if the problem recurred. All for the charge of a call-out fee!

Josh came to see my broken dishwasher on Monday and said it is beyond repair. He came back on Friday same week to install a new integrated dishwasher and made extra effort to align the base and kitchen doors, so that all looks neat and tidy. Highly recommend.

Because his supplier sent the wrong pump (on a Friday!) the engineer managed to find one from a friend on Saturday, and fitted it for us later that day, without any extra charge for weekend working! So have been able to start catching up with all our holiday washing pile...

My 4-year-old fridge developed a drainage problem early which seemed unfixable, but drainage wasn’t covered under the warranty. I rang AJ Appliances, Josh asked some diagnostic questions over the phone from which it was clear he really knew his stuff, and I was quoted £65 for callout and labour. Within an hour he had turned up, found that a pipe was blocked with food behind the fridge where none of the other 'fixers' had checked, and done the repair. Great service, and a professional who really takes pride in his work.

My heat-pump tumble dryer had been declared beyond economic repair by Siemens. It didn't make sense so I called AJ Appliances for a second opinion. Very thorough, very professional and pleasant too! Unfortunately the patient didn't survive the operation but at least I know why and how. Money well spent and I will definitely use again.

I've used Josh twice, once to fix a washing machine and once to fix a dishwasher. On both occasions, he was able to fit me in on the day I called, despite being very busy.
