About
Tim O'Connor of Arbor Tree Specialists trained in Sussex back in 2006. He worked for a large company for a number of years in and around Sussex, Surrey and London, and also during this time was fortunate enough to work at Buckingham palace, amongst other royal residences. In late 2010, Tim decided to return to Oxford to set up Arbor Tree Specialists.
Arbor Tree Specialists offer a comprehensive service for all aspects of high quality tree work. Operating principally in Oxfordshire and surrounding counties, from garden trees and hedges to parkland and community planting we strive to offer a professional and forward thinking approach to tree surgery (arboriculture).

Tim was asked to reduce a very large tree, two smaller trees, an overgrown lilac and reshape a long rambling hedge. He and his team did an excellent job. They consulted us at every stage and cleared up afterwards without leaving a trace. The large tree required a cherry picker being installed in a neighbouring yard. All was carried out with the utmost care and consideration and the the result was admired by several neighbours. They were a pleasure to have around and were very reasonable.

This is the second job Arbor Tree Services have done for us. The first job was a tricky big job, taking down a sizeable partially rotten Ash with a very small drop space, and more recently recently they cut back a bay and magnolia tree for us. With both jobs I felt confident in their advice and execution. Tim and his team are extremely knowledgeable, thoughtful, professional and reasonably priced. I would highly recommend them.

Tim did a great job in removing the hedge and tree. Job was done quickly and professionally. We were happy with the results. However, when we then asked Tim to quote for replacing the hedge and tree plus pruning a couple of other trees, it took more than a month to chase on a quote - eventually Tim said he couldn’t do the job, citing things being up in the air and not having the capacity. Which is fine except it we were kept waiting all this time. Tim recommended another company that when we called said they wouldn’t do the job. In short, disappointing and frustrating to be kept waiting for a quote only to then be told no and with no feasible alternative given. This has unfortunately left a bitter aftertaste notwithstanding the excellent first job done. In short, would recommend provided the job actually gets done; otherwise, you are better off with another company that is willing and able to be more consistent.

Tim and his team removed a dying tree from our front garden and sorted out our overgrown rear garden. From initial visit to completion of the work they provided superb advice and excellent service. The tree work was planned to avoid nesting season and all work in the rear garden was done with a view to retaining and encouraging wildlife, which we wanted to achieve. They were careful, considerate and hard working. Everything was left clean and tidy afterwards. After a bit of discussion, they also recommended a suitable replacement tree, which they can supply and plant. Fantastic work by a fantastic team.

Arbor Tree Specialists pruned our plums and cherry trees this September. They did an excellent job, thinking carefully about the 7 trees. They made sure they came in September - in the short window between harvesting the fruit and before colder weather starts. The took out a lot of dead wood and reduced the height, which left the trees in good shape, much healthier and more stable. They tidied up very carefully after shredding the prunings on site. Good communications and provided useful advice about other tree matters whilst they were on site. They also came last March and pruned non-fruit trees, plus successfully reducing a massive Rambling Rector rose with a lot of dead wood which was weighing on a Hawthorn, and creating a stretch of laid hedge from 12 feet hazel and blackhorn growing on the boundary with our neighbours' garden. This is looking very good, and is so much better than a fence. Quoting and invoicing was all very straightforward.

Excellent company! We recently had Arbor Tree Specialists in to remove several large trees and to give advice on some other overgrown areas. Tim was fast to reply to our original enquiry. He visited soon afterwards, clearly very knowledgeable and gave us lots of advice. His quote came soon after the initial consultation, and we were pleased to go ahead. The work lasted x2 days with several others in his team to assist on the project. The site was left clean and tidy. Excellent company & thoroughly recommend.

Tim and his team dealt superbly with two large birches causing problems with neighbouring gardens and overhead lines. they also pruned a very large magnolia, reducing it to a lovely shape but being sensitive to leaving enough branches. They were a pleasure to deal with, were fast and efficient, and cleaned up beautifully. We thoroughly recommend them.

Tim and team took on a big job of 3 large diseased ash trees which needed to be cut down in an area next to 3 properties, fences, outhouses and greenhouses. A few dropped branches and impending disaster could have happened. But Tim's team work really hard for 2 days and took the trees down perfectly, clearing up as they went and ensuring that all the surrounding fragile areas remained completely undamaged. A great team of tree surgeons who are very hard working, friendly and professional. We would thoroughly recommend.

Reduced and trimmed our conifer hedge and managed to leave a eye pleasing hedge behind. Exceeded our expectations. Tim took great care and obviously has a genuine love of trees. Very impressed with Tim and his team who took 4 big trees down in our garden today. Tim offered excellent advice and was sensitive to our requests, the feelings of our neighbours and the birds and wildlife in the garden. The team were prompt and efficient and clearly knew exactly what they were doing and had all the right technical kit to do the job properly. They worked hard all day and cleared up thoroughly. We definitely felt we got good value for money, will use them again for tree maintenance and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

10/10, excellent work. I found Arbor Tree Specialists via Which? Local, and Tim came out very promptly to give me a quote. He was very knowledgable and gave me sound advice. I wanted the trees at the bottom of my garden to be reduced in height, but their shape to be maintained, yet give my garden more light. We have been very impressed with Arbor Tree Specialists and cannot praise Tim enough. His time keeping is excellent and he is accurate both to cost and timings. Such a pleasure to meet someone as knowledgeable and efficient and clear about what can and can't be done. The work which included removal of a 40 ft tree was completed with no fuss and very little mess with the site cleared and tidy. Excellent job, highly recommended.

Tim did a really good job for us. He pruned and cut back about a dozen trees of various types and cut back our hedges. He understands trees and knows how to prune them -- he isn't just a hacker! He cleared up very well, shredding the off-cuts in his very superior chopper/shredder and took it all away with him. He was efficient and easy to deal with. He came to give an estimate and was clear about what he would do and what it would cost. He turned up on time to do the work and completed it in the time he estimated.His invoice was exactly as the estimate had been. I recommend him warmly and without any reservation at all.

As professional gardeners we need a reliable tree surgeon who can complete specialist works for our clients when required. We met Tim a year ago after seeing him work on a neighbouring property.
