Ashmark Roofing

I used Ashmark Roofing, based in London N21 to sort out a persistent problem that I was experiencing with a downpipe on my two storey house. It was one of those jobs that you put off and put off, but everytime there was some moderate to heavy rain the downpipe would not do its job and water would spill down the wall. No signs of damp problems, but rather than face costly remedial work I asked Ashmark to provide a quote. They charged £432 and did the work within a few days. Now the downpipe and guttering works well.

Removal of defective apron flashings at the base of two dormers and replace with code 4 lead, cut and lapped to appropriate lengths and dressed over tiles of pitched roof. This first required careful removal of the bottom course of tiles for each dormer and subsequent replacement of said tiles. The work was carried out to an agreed schedule and at cost specified in the quotation. The trader worked from scaffolding at roof level for two days in direct hot sun. Communications with the trader by phone and email were satisfactory.

I first used Ashmark Roofing about 10 years ago to replace and renew the flat roofing on my garden shed. The work was done by Paul and an assistant. They explained what they were doing and were polite and tidied up thoroughly. There have been no problems since, and the guarantee has run out. Since then I have used Ashmark Roofing a few times with problems relating to guttering on my conservatory roof and elsewhere which they resolved. Last summer the ground floor extension to my semi-detached house developed a leak and here this took some time to resolve. The man who came to fix it also called Tony couldn't pin-point the source of the leak despite 2 or 3 attempts. So the proprietor Tony Hewett sent somebody else called Steve who came over and straight away identified the source of the problem. He did the work at the beginning of May 2024 and there have been no more leaks. He was friendly and polite and I wish he had come over at the onset The original job was done about 6 month earlier but it took this long because I didn't want anyone coming over when it was raining and there has been a lot of that. The proprietor Tony Hewett is a man of principle and good ethics and he is not satisfied if his customer isn't.

Steve and Paul repaired my roof. They were punctual, hard-working, reliable and pleasant to deal with. They dealt with any problems in a helpful manner and kept me informed about what was going on. They discussed the various possibilities clearly. They kept to the schedule and quotation.

Ashmark replaced an old, leaking flat roof above a bay window and from start to finish both their communications and the work carried out were refreshingly professional and efficient. Tony always responded promptly to emails and phone calls and Paul and Brad, the team who did the work, were prompt, courteous and did and excellent job. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

We had damp in an upstairs bedroom from previously blocked and overflowing gutters. We also had a leaky lean-to roof. Tony came round and took a good look before arranging a very reasonable quote. Tony and Mick worked really hard for us on the day, sorting out the gutter, doing pointing on the chimney and sorting out the "fillet" between the extension and main building, as well as adding eaves carriers where needed and re-taping the lean-to roof. All these jobs took a little longer than expected, but they completed the work without complaint or extra charge and they only stopped once for a break and a cup of tea. It was a pleasure having them around - real old school gents and they take pride in their work, are experienced, and know what they are doing. The lean-to is nice and dry again and hopefully the wall upstairs will now dry out completely so we can re-decorate. Thank you too for brilliant communication and pleasant chats throughout. I will definitely call on Ashmark Roofing again when I need them. - Oh, and, by the way, they also predicted the weather better than the Met Office did! :-)

After 2 previous attempts by different roofing companies to fix a longstanding issue with our back roof without success (one company making the problem much worse) Ashmark Roofing have succeeded! Tony's communication by phone and email has been excellent throughout both in relation to the roof itself and the scaffolding required. Steve was excellent in carrying out the work, which ultimately differed to that quoted. This was due to his logical troubleshooting and altering the repair that was required accordingly. I booked Ashmark for a range of small and necessary tasks on our roof. They are an established firm with many years' experience and it shows. The quote was clear, reasonable and thorough. Steve and his assistant arrived early. They were lovely and kind, and worked diligently, quickly and clearly effectively. The site was left notably clean on both days. The resulting work is of a very high quality as one might hope. I'm so glad I found them, and I will be trusting them again.

Apparently it was a small job and because of that firms were slow to even come and quote. But Ashmark restored my faith in using local firms. Took a couple of days for someone to come out and have a look, but that was a positive suggesting they are a busy firm. Then it took a few days for a quote to be provided (which also filled me with confidence). When the work was due to commence, they arrived on the right day at the right time an completed the work in the timescale that was agreed. Fantastic service, especially after being let down by other firms. Would definitely recommend.

The quote came promptly after the initial visit and work carried out on the date agreed. Both roofers were friendly, worked well and explained exactly what they were doing. I have used Ashmark before and would use them again as I was very satisfied.

My roof sprung a leak that was seeping into my young son's bedroom. On the recommendation of a work colleague I contacted Tony at Ashmark Roofing. Tony came back to me within a couple of days and arranged for the roof to be examined - photos were taken and a plan of action proposed and agreed. Tony explained that he would need to fit my job into his existing work schedule but would have it done as soon as he could. True to his word the scaffolders arrived 3 weeks after first contact, the job completed in a day and the scaffolding removed the day after. Photos of the completed job were taken and shared. I am very happy with the service provided and the job completed (as per budget) and have no hesitation in giving my recommendation to Ashmark roofing.

After arranging the erection of suitable scaffolding by a third party, Steve and Tony from the firm arrived at the promised time, replaced the gutter at the rear of my house and installed UPVC fascia and soffit boards in a professional and timely manner, and cleared up properly after completing the work in one morning. Both were pleasant and polite at all times. The firm has always done very satisfactory work for me over several years, and I don't hesitate to recommend them.

This is the second time I employed Ashmark Roofing to repair and make watertight a flank window and rear windows below the roof. Some of the work was tricky: Tony, very accommodatingly, went ‘the extra length’ to get the most suitable material for the job. Tony completed the work with great skill and efficiency - diverting the rain away from the house. Ashmark Roofing replaced the gutters on the rear of our house. They came to quote very soon and we only had to wait around two weeks after that for the work to be done. The job was done very efficiently and only took half a day. The two roofers who attended were pleasant to have around and cleared up thoroughly after themselves. The new gutters look just right and we are very satisfied with the whole experience.

I was very concerned to discover my roof was leaking during some heavy rainstorms especially as more heavy rain was forecast. I was very pleased with the repairs carried out by Ashmark Roofing. Ashmark Roofing replaced the existing worn out covering of the two flat roofs with three layer Torch on Felt and replaced the old cast-iron gutters with pvc ones at the same time. Paul, Ashmark's flat roof specialist, carried out the work with Brad, arrived as planned, kept me informed of progress, repaired a small issue, worked through to finish the job over the two days as scheduled and cleaned up beautifully at the end. Paul was very professional, knowledgeable and easy to talk to. He completed to a very high standard and to the agreed budget. Tony, Ashmark’s manager, gave me a competitive quote. The box gutter of our Edwardian house needed repairing. Steve from Ashmark roofing is knowledgeable and experienced so was able to effect the repairs to a very high standard despite the challenging nature of the job. He usefully provided before and after photos to show the extent of the damage and the subsequent repair work done. There was good communication throughout the whole process which was appreciated. Ashmark roofing are a competent, professional and reliable company and we would therefore have no hesitation in recommending them.

Trying to find a decent, reliable roofer is almost impossible and so when I contacted Tony at Ashmark I could tell straight away that he was all those things. I described the leak from the chimney stack that was happening in very intense rain and he didn't give me worse case 'very expensive' scenarios over the phone like other roofers had, he was pragmatic and considerate about keeping my costs down. Steve came to quote and then came to do the job when I hired Ashmark. Steve was very professional, on-time and took photos of before and after. He explained in easy to understand detail what he was going to do and why. After the job was finished he even tidied up a few other little things he saw on the roof for me. If I ever need a roofer again then I won't look elsewhere, I definitely recommend them.
