I had used Ben and his team before for damp in my home. This time it was for damp on 3 walls in a Church hall. They arrived on time, were very thorough and methodical in carrying out the work. Extremely pleasant and friendly guys. Very satisfied with the work they did.

We received a damp survey by an alternative damp specialist company. Ben's Avant Garde survey was in a completely different league. From meeting Ben in person for the survey it is clear he is highly knowledgeable and honest. His objective was not to maximise the quote for Avant Garde but rather to set out clearly the issues and risks identified as well as those which should be monitored but do not require immediate action. The subsequent report provided was very detailed which was highly informative in enabling us to understand his recommendations and proceed confidently to book in the work. We are very grateful to Ben for saving us a huge sum compared to the less personalised and less specialised assessment from a competitor.

Ben and his team came to my rescue when I was let down by another company 4 days before they were due to start work on the damp at my house. Ben provided a very comprehensive report and the work which started 4 days ahead of schedule followed the recommended treatment of the walls exactly as per the report. A structural engineer inspection revealed that we had wet rot in the joists above our bathroom. They held up the floor of the flat above, so two properties were affected. We could not refurbish our bathroom until the problem had been treated. I rang round a number of firms. Some were very expensive; others did not return my calls. AG Damp Solutions did and appeared reasonable, even discounting 50% of the cost of the initial report if treatment was subsequently undertaken. I had been warned that some of the firms specialising in this area created unnecessary work and expense. Wet rot does sound scary and expensive, but AG Damp Solutions made an inspection and submitted a report within a week, reassuring me that the problem was not horrendous and that treatment would fix it. I had to find a contractor to expose a section of the joists and bolt on new joists to the old after a day's treatment by AG Damp Solutions. The work was done quickly and at a reasonable cost, with a guarantee. I would recommend this firm to anyone.

I had issues with damp walls for a while and contacted so many companies that firstly were charging a fortune just for the inspection and secondly they were very expensive. I then found Avant Garde which had lots of good reviews. I was very impressed with the work they have done. Firstly the report shared after the inspection was very detailed and that gave me a lot of confidence. Secondly, It is always a daunting experience to remove plaster and redo it and I thought it would be a nightmare to clean afterwards. I needed damp proofing work done to my front internal and external bay window and the internal chimney stack. This work included tanking, plastering, increased subfloor ventilation, and creating a French drain for added protection. The survey process was similar to the other companies we asked to quote, but the thing that stood out about Avant Garde was their attitude and the clarity with which they explained what work they recommended. The whole process was very simple, and they kept to time on all the work. The workmen were polite and very efficient, and it was reassuring to have Ben on-site to answer questions. The work on-site was backed up professionally and efficiently by Chrissy in the office. Ben and his team completed a damp survey and subsequently a damp proof course on my basement flat. I wanted it completed before I moved in and Ben managed to fit me in throughout January. Ben was very helpful from start to finish, from creating a very comprehensive damp survey report - through to completing the Damp Proof work that he quoted on. There were a few problems that Ben identified during the treatment, but he let me know immediately and explained the different options available to remedy them (the joys of old properties!). Just as we put our house on the market we found that we had a big damp problem underneath the lounge floor that needed attention. Ben and his team gave us a competitive quote and then started work almost immediately. Perceptive diagnosis of all damp issues with the flat including the discovery of considerable dry rot which had progressed into supporting ceiling beams etc. Contractors very helpful and considerate and carried out extensive work at short notice on a tight schedule. Workmanship excellent and recommended other specialists for necessary extra refurbishment work.

We hired Avant Garde to treat all of our floorboards for woodworm, as well as for damp treatment of our walls. Ben was very knowledgeable about the two topics and his team carried out the work efficiently and to a very good finish. Where the original wall plastering wasn't perfect, the team re-plastered the entire height of the wall for a nice even finish, instead of only the parts which were removed for the damp treatment. Overall, we were pleased with the quality of the work, price and timeliness of the AG team, and would recommend them to others.

We did not use Avant Garde directly but they arranged for an independent surveyor to come and assess our problem we had with a damp patch. A lovely, very helpful surveyor came and straight away he knew that our damp was not serious and told us what the cause was and how to sort the damp patch out. It turns out we only need a good plasterer to hack off then re plaster with some water proofing in the plaster. For such a small job the surveyor advised us to go to our regular plasterer with the above advise and said that Avant Garde would have said the same thing. This only cost us £50 + VAT which we very happily paid to reassure us after having many other builders around giving many different and contradictory opinions of what had caused the problem and what the remedy would be, mainly that we needed to have the damp proof course redone and that just wasn't needed. If we had gone with one of these builders we would have wasted money and the problem may not have been solved. We will definitely keep the surveyor, Oliver Walker, as well as Ben Sullivan at Avant Garde in our address book for the future and would quickly recommend both to others.

I had a problem with fungus in the floorboards in a spare room. Ben did an excellent job for me providing a reasonable estimate and carrying out both the investigation and the remediation work. The work was done in the time estimated despite some unforeseen problems with the existing wall. Everything was tidied up nicely afterwards and I was kept informed of progress all the way through. We contacted Ben about possible dry rot and he recommended we had a survey carried out. Two areas of wet rot caused by external soil being higher than our damp proof course were identified. Avant Garde Damp Solution rectified a damp problem in the bedroom wall at 2 St Mary Abbots Place, Kensington, London. The job, from initial survey and diagnosis of the problem until completion and clean up, was carried out most effectively. The work took three days and was on schedule and as budgeted in the detailed quote. Avant Garde came to assess the problems and have done a great job fixing them including tanking a wall fixing cracks letting water in the building and a leak from an upstairs shower. I purchased a basement flat in an old London Victorian house that was built in 1880-1890. I knew right away that I would need to do some damp woks when I bought the place. So I contacted about 5 different damp proofing companies and they all came over to have a look at the flat. Some were cheaper, and some were more expensive but what really stood out with Avant Garde was that Ben explained absolutely everything and the reasons why he had to do each little bit. It made me really comfortable with going forward and working with him and his team, and I never felt that they were doing something that was not needed. More over Ben's detailed planning of the works went a lot further than what the other companies were offering. So I really felt that he knew what he was doing and he wanted to cover every possible risk that could arise in the future. The job itself was quite big, the kitchen needed a full membrane tanking, and two bedrooms, a bathroom and a the living room that needed most of their walls damp proofed against raising and penetrating damp. And a french drain around the exterior walls. It took about 3-4 weeks to complete, the team was fast and on time every morning, they were all very friendly and very skilled in their own speciality. Ben came to my house to look at the damp in my outbuilding. The solution he suggested didn’t require a damp course, saving me money but meaning he lost out on potential work. This was very honest and as result I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending him.

Professional service this is the second project avant-garde has worked on for us ,having used other big-name large dampproofing companies in the past .This has been an much more positive experience with Ben being on hand to deal with any issues that might arise on a project like this. Even changing specification at the last minute to incorporate work to follow one for instance to allow us to tile directly onto walls after dampproofing had taken place not normally recommended for six months but quickly fixed when thermal aqua panel was applied on top of the dampproofing .Ben is knowledgeable and I would not hesitate to recommend this company.

They were exceptionally helpful when I explained the problem and arranged for a survey which was carried out with 48 hours. The surveyor explained what he needed to do making sure we understood every step of the way. He carried this out and promised us a report within 2 days which we received as promised. Small job in a middle bedroom Victorian house, but they gave the best quote, did the job on the day that was planned/promised and gave great advice on how to solve the problem. The room looks great now and not a spec of dust, or plaster anywhere in the house. Great team who really care about there workmanship.

I had a major damp problem which was treated by another company several years ago but the treatment failed and was not honoured under their guarantee. I contacted Ben who, or very short notice, organised a comprehensive survey which identified the failure by the previous company and also included photos and a breakdown of the required damp course and tanking work, time scale and their costs of the work to be carried out. His team were punctual, polite, very clean and professionally finished the job exactly as per the schedule and quote provided. They covered all furniture and carpets to prevent dust and stains and tidied up daily and removed all rubbish at completion.The rendering and skimming to finish was smooth and exact. I was very pleased with the workmanship and find it refreshing to find a tradesman who does what he says he is going to do and there were no hidden charges.
