Avon Ruby (UK) Limited

I have been a customer of Avon Ruby for many many years, turning to them on a Christmas Eve years ago, when British Gas, whom I had a top star contract with let me down, I have never had cause to complain or be let down by Avon Ruby. The annual service was booked professionally, I had a text to say when engineer was due and he was professional, polite and efficient, as always. I have called on Avon Ruby often and recommend them to many. From initial call, admin team to job completion, staff have always been helpful and kind. In particular, Oliver and Maurice. It is a small company, I believe, but a professional team, hard working and lovely people.

I got sent this company through my insurers, the issue I was having was my hot water pressure had gone in numerous places. When the company came out they kept telling me that "they don't have a magic wand" to do things and we're unhelpful. Humans have landed on the moon but a full time plumber tells me he needs a magic wand for water pressure. They even told the insurers that the issue was isolated to one tap when it was 3 taps so the insurers wriggled out of the claim. I have since got a private plumber (sole trader) to do the job and I was very impressed at how professional and thorough he was in comparison.

Avon Ruby were fantastic, professional, reliable and very good value for money. The work included building, electrical, plumbing, flooring and decorating. Would use this company again, no hesitation.

We just wanted to thank everyone at Avon Ruby (UK) Ltd for a superb job in fixing our leaky roof. Everyone we came in contact with was polite and professional especially their installer who was friendly and very knowledgeable. We would recommend their services to anyone.

The replacement of my existing electric heating system with gas combi central heating was done with great expertise and efficiency. The engineers kept the inevitable disruption to a minimum, and explained what they were doing as they went along. I appreciate the annual service agreement associated with the manufacturer's 10-year guarantee. I have already made good use of the ready supply of hot water, and the flexibility of the heating system will stand me in good stead when the colder weather returns.

Having fallen foul to a scam related to my roof it was great to find a firm who quoted for the work very quickly, started the work within 36 hours, did an excellent job. Work finished on schedule and to budget. Site left clean and tidy. Everyone was friendly, helpful and supportive. I know where to go next time I need some work done.

Great communication and co-ordination from Paula the project co-ordinator for Avon Ruby. Paula kept me constantly updated on timescales along with suggestions on materials and schedule of works. Everything we agreed from the outset was followed, no excuses, no faults, no issues; the team just got the job done. Andy the builder is thorough and a perfectionist, takes pride in his work and not looking to take short cuts like some of the trades I have had the displeasure of coming across in the past (That weren't from Avon Ruby by the way). At the beginning through to the end of the job their own surveyor checks on progress and workmanship as a matter of practice although as mentioned Andy knows exactly what he's doing. Andy's workmanship and Paula's management produced a very successful project outcome!

A number of plumbing issues dealt with professionally, on time and with no fuss. A lovely firm to work with from beginning to end.

I wish I could join the chorus of praise but unfortunately my experience was really unpleasant. On arrival the engineer asked for a manual for servicing my boiler and as I didn’t have one he cribbed the instructions from the internet. I can only hope that he did the job properly. The boiler needed repressurising twice since this service some 6 weeks ago. The agreement was that instead of checking the radiators for air he would even them out as we get very different temperatures in rooms despite the same settings and he will have a look at the gas stove which would not light. Instead he went around and checked the radiators for air, I don’t know how as several were turned off. The engineer said that the stove needed a new pilot assembly and promised to check availability. Eventually I received the bad news that the part was unavailable. This was a big blow for me because a similar one costs a lot of money. Since then I discovered that all that was needed was to clean the pilot. Their advice could have cost me thousands. There were other unpleasantnesses but I try to forget about them. I probably would not write this review had they answered my emails. I first wrote soon after the service expressing my disappointment then sent another rather irate one when I discovered how badly I feel they misled me about the stove. They were both ignored. I hope you understand that I cannot recommend them
