The work was to fill in the inspection pit that had partially collapsed. They professionally reviewed the damaged pit and detailed the required work (draining the pit, filling it with hardcore and topping with concrete). The work was carried out in a professional manner and the site was left tidy. The staff were amiable and fitted into our situation. This was the second time that we had used them and were not disappointed.

We were very pleased with the work carried out by Balance & Co. We had a detailed quote before the job commenced and once accepted the work started without delay. The work was carried out in a professional and efficient manner, the builders were competent and friendly, and the site was left in a tidy condition when the job was completed. Any small problems were dealt with immediately and satisfactorily.

I contacted Gary about a potentially tricky job of replacing a wooden wall plate above my kitchen window which was thoroughly rotten. Gary assessed the job and told me what to expect from the start. His team were polite and courteous, pin-pointed exactly what needed doing (we weren't 100% sure of what to expect until facia and tiles had been removed) and completed the job professionally (taking photo's from start to finish). Can highly recommend.

We have used this Company from approx 2018 initially 1 new floor (I could see the air bricks from inside, as floor had dropped ). His knowledge and straight talking put my mind at rest now recently 2 x New Floors, Electrical works, Room decoration, External work to house and just recently 1 x large flat roof re felted. I wanted to replace an all-glass rear extension wall+sliding door with a more conventional wall/picture windows and patio doors. Balance was very helpful in suggesting best way to achieve this and produced a very smart result. Happy to recommend them and have already booked for additional works.

We wanted to knock through into the back of our garage to achieve a bigger kitchen and a downstairs loo. Gary and his boys were able to do this for us to a very good standard and with the least amount of upheaval. They were also able to work around other works we were having done and to carry out extra bits we wanted as the job progressed. Serious water leak in our kitchen - we had managed to guesstimate its approximate location before I called Balance, but really had little idea of what we were dealing with. Gary got his team out very very quickly, recognising the urgency, and I have nothing but the highest praise for the work that Dave and Charlie did. They established where the leak was and whilst I had had visions of half my kitchen and flooring being removed to fix the leak, with potentially thousands of pounds of damage being caused, these absolute magicians managed to reach and fix the leak with minimal damage - just one shelf inside a cupboard unit needs replacing. Incredible! They worked so hard, and I am so grateful to them and Gary for their help. They have totally restored my faith in tradesmen, having being on the receiving end of some very dodgy workmanship a few years ago elsewhere in the property. Thank you thank you!

Total exterior upgrade to the house including gutters and fascias. Also replaced and modernised our last century kitchen to an up-to-date gem. Commissioned work done across the summer. High-quality workmanship by experts. Costs are always managed and discussed. Gary has an eye for evaluating just what will provide the best value and that is something special. The new porcelain floor in the kitchen spotlights to the ceiling and exterior night lights are all pleasing to the eye and add value. Couldn't be happier with the work done and the transformation of a shabby property into something I feel prouder to exhibit.

I had a new facia, main door and surround re-painted and the side garage door replaced with a UPVC one. Work was carried out to the specifications, and everything left clean and tidy. All workers were very polite and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. I would highly recommend this company.

He organised the refurbishment of a flat we purchased and got the work done promptly, taking only a few weeks from start to finish. Installation of kitchen we had purchased, painting and decorating, fibreglass insulation in loft, organising electrical system upgrade. A very good service.

Had them install a new shower door/unit, They arrived promptly, worked hard, very thorough, polite workers worked quickly, and did a really good job of it, tidied up after themselves left no mess. The shower looks great.

All of the ceiling lights went out in my kitchen. I’d checked the fuse box and nothing had tripped, so got in touch with Bliss & Co via email. I’d had a problem with granite worktops in my kitchen the year before, and had spoken to Gary. While he wasn’t able to do the job I needed done, (cutting fitted granite in situ), he did recommend someone nearby who was a granite specialist, and the job was completed to my satisfaction. So I had no hesitation in emailing them again when the lights went out. I mailed on a Saturday evening, (18 June) and a swift appointment was made for Monday 20th June. I got a really fast reply from Dale Bliss (even though he was away on his hols - thank you, Dale) who deals with the electrical side in the company. Archie rang me on the morning of the 20th and asked if it would be convenient for him to get to me a little earlier - of course, it was! He identified and resolved the problem, even though it meant pulling up a couple of floorboards in the bathroom above the kitchen. He was quick, polite, professional and very tidy. I was really impressed, and wouldn’t hesitate to use this company again. Thanks to all involved.

I found Balance & Company via a Checkatrade leaflet posted through my door. By coincidence a neighbour had recently used them. They provided a prompt estimate, booked a date and carried out the work on schedule. Communication was excellent from beginning to end. The job site was kept tidy and cleaned before they left. The tradesman were polite and efficient and worked hard throughout the day. I am very happy with the standard of work and would not hesitate to use this company again. Excellent job providing professional advice to select and procure three new internal hardwood doors and fittings and then replace and dispose of three existing doors in a timely manner. On completion, Garry and his team left everything clean and tidy and I think were as pleased as us with the finished result.

All the work was completed within the timeline. The men who carried out the work were very efficiant and made sure everything was cleaned before they departed. They were very helpfull to any questions I asked and I did add more work as they went on but they just took it in their stride. I had phoned other tradesmen and they either just ignored my phonecall or told me they would not be free untill March 2022. I cannot praise this company enough. They did a fantastic job and I would not hesitate to use them again. In fact I would not go to any other trader if they are able to the job for me.

We needed our living room, replastering and general updating. Gary from Balance and Company called we explained what we wanted and he said' no problem' we didn't realize quite what was involved but Gary talked us through our options and budget. It all turned out to be a much bigger job and I was quite concerned by the thought of plasterers, electricians, covering and painters but no need, all the trades were prompt, friendly, helpful and very tidy. There were a couple of slight delays but nothing serious. Gary checked in regularly and was always contactable. I would recommend Balance and Company and will happily use them again.

We had some re-rendering undertaken in an awkward to reach position. Gary Mitchell of Balance and Co has considerable experience of building trades and coordinated the scaffolding and rendering well and ensured that the workmen took care to protect other parts of the building and were respectful of our home. Gary was helpful and easily contactable throughout. We might have got a cheaper price to complete the work from elsewhere but I am pleased that we chose him for this work because of the knowledge, experience and integrity that he demonstrated.

Balance and Co quoted to totally re-plaster a bedroom, moving/replacing electrical sockets, boarding, plastering a new ceiling and securing and boarding over the old floorboards. They also replaced coving and skirting boards and fully painted the room. All work was carried out to a high spec. All trades turned up exactly as expected on time and worked straight through. As an example, when we were expecting the plasterer at 09:00, a plumber turned up 15 minutes earlier to disconnect the radiator. Very good project planning, especially as they had to work around a bedroom wardrobe fitting companies work schedule. Gary turned up regularly to inspect the work. It was good to have that point of contact. Gary would also respond promptly to any query we encountered - normally our decision to add to the initial project. We have several other projects planned and will definitely be using Balance and Co. Highly recommended.

Our front garden retaining wall had cracked and was starting to lean forward. When the company attended to give the estimate they advised us what needed to be done, and why, and answered any questions relating to this. Balance & Co took down the existing wall, removed bushes and excavated to below the existing foundation to provide room for another concrete block reinforcement wall. Then built new concrete block wall and rebuilt brick wall with drainage points. All this work was carried out to a high standard and every day all debris was taken away and the site left safe. We are very pleased with the finished result. The wall looks as good as new (in fact better) and the site was left clean and tidy. The final invoice was as per the written quote. All tradesmen involved were professional, polite and obviously experienced. I would definitely recommend this company.

An excellent service provided by Gary and his team. We could not be happier from the installation of the footings, building the wall, through to the final rendering all of which matches our neighbour's walls perfectly. We have just had our old garage made into a utility room by BALANCE and Company. We couldn't be happier with the way the work was carried out. The price was agreed and stuck to. We had electricians, builders, heating engineers and plasterers attend and all were polite and very professional. They started on time at 8.30am and did a full days work, taking away all rubbish and leaving area tidy when leaving. The finished work was of a very high quality and we will be using this company for future works.

We have just had our decrepit old patio replace by this company. This is the third time we have used them and find them reliable, honest, cost-effective and pleasant to deal with. When finding a good builder like this, why go elsewhere. He helped us chose the paving, surrounding wall materials and coping stones and his men completed the job efficiently and were more than helpful in shifting benches and pot plants to other locations whilst they carried out the work, clearing up perfectly after they finished each day ending in a perfect new patio.

Renovation of daughter's bedroom removing existing units, plasterboard to ceiling, plastering all walls and ceiling, painting, fitting of fanlight, and putting shelving in the cupboard. Also, removal of 4 doors and frames upstairs and refitting new doors and frameworks which were then painted. Work was carried out on schedule and at the agreed quote. All tradespersons were friendly with good communication and very efficient. and professional. All work was carried out and completed to our satisfaction as we envisaged it. We are planning for this company to undertake more work at our home once the current climate is under control. The company promised our daughter would be in her bedroom before Christmas, which promise was kept.

Gary came to give us advice on what could be done to repair a flat lead covered roof. He took us through some options, told us what would be done and what might have to be done. Also explained that we would need scaffolding erected before the work could be done. There was a slight delay due to the current situation causing problems but two days after the scaffolding was erected, the work on the roof was started and completed. The work was done efficiently and professionally, the two chaps who came were polite, punctual, obviously very experienced and knowledgeable. (They also repined flashing on neighbours roof.) They cleared up and left the garden tidy. Viewed from above the new roof covering looks very neat, more importantly it's watertight. Gary called by a couple of days later to ensure the work had been done to his (and our) satisfaction and was very clear that if we should have any concerns with this roof in the future to call them and they would sort it. He arranged for the scaffolding to be collected which it was two days later. We would have no hesitation in recommending the company.

This company can be summed up in three words. Polite, Professional, Punctual. Not only do they do the work but they also advise along the way and I would say to anybody using them to listen to what they say as in my case the end result is fantastic. We were given a quote by this very knowledgable builder and the work started promptly to remove our fireplace and make good. Everything was done beautifully and they came on time, cleared up well and took everything away. We have used this company before and the quality of work is excellent.This time it was to demolish and replace 10 fence panels with concrete posts and gravel boards. Contacted Ray at Balance via email to ask for a quote for some electrical sockets to be supplied and installed in our garage. Got a quote the same day and the work was completed in a socially distanced, safe way two days later. The electrician was friendly, considerate, efficient and left no mess. Ray was happy to invoice for the work following completion, and made sure that we had contact details and a clear invitation to get in touch if there were any problems with the work at any future time. Balance will definitely get a call from us for any future projects, big or small that we need taken care of at home

I called in Balance and co for an emergency repair to my main roof, which they promptly made safe. Gary then took me through my options and I decided the best option was a complete new roof. The work was carried out very professionally and the workmanship was of excellent quality. Because of this I then asked Gary to quote for a tiled roof over my porch, garage & utility room which was also completed with the same quality as the main house roof. The guys were excellent turned up when they said & always tidied up before they left. All in all I can highly recommend Balance & co.

We have used Balance and Company twice previously and have been delighted with their work. This repair was quite extensive involving the exterior of our house including replacing rotten timber, render repairs, new guttering, roof repairs and and full exterior repaint. At the outset Gary provided us with a very detailed, itemised quote. As the house is old we expected further work to arise during the repairs which when it did Gary again provided us with very prompt quotes and a detailed explanation of what was needed to carry out the repairs. The builders always arrived early and worked to a very high and tidy standard. We are very pleased with the final result and would thoroughly recommend Balance and Company.

Plastering, decorating, flooring, plumbing and work on guttering were all completed to a high standard by friendly, skilled workmen. Budget and schedule were kept to. I wholeheartedly recommend this trader.

In December 2019, one of my neighbours had a water leak which had penetrated into the Freeholder's main exterior wall (and also into my bathroom). I thought that the fault was with Balance & Company's new bathroom window (which they had installed in June 2018). I was wrong. Called Gary Mitchell and explained the situation. After seeing the photographs of the damp, he said that the fault was with the neighbour's plumbing and visited my home to prove it. The Leaseholder of that (leaky) flat was informed and he arranged for a plumber to rectify the cause of the problem in his bathroom. Gary suggested removing the existing plastic beading surrounding the bathroom window to allow the water in the exterior wall (and surrounding the window) to dry out over a three month period. Today, three months later (11th March 2020), the neighbour's plumbing is fixed, the walls are dry and the plastic beading has been replaced by Balance and Company. Both visits (in December 2019 and in March 2020) were free. Thank you, Gary Mitchell and your team, for your advice, and for helping me out of a messy situation.

Efficient and reliable. They removed old bathroom and installed new one. This included new bath, shower, wash basin, toilet, ceiling, lighting and tiling to walls and floor. The work was done to schedule and in line with quote. They were helpful and cleared up after themselves.

I used Balance & Company Essex Ltd to replace some fencing and supply a new front door and to carry out electrical, plastering, redecorating and flooring work plus fitting new skirting. I received a detailed quote for the work. Everything was completed to the agreed schedule and budget including some extra work I requested. The quality of the work is excellent. All the tradesmen were punctual, reliable, professional, clean and tidy and friendly. Ongoing communication was very good and we were kept notified about the dates works would be done throughout the process. When all the work had been completed we had a slight problem with the paint finish on one wall, which started to crack. I must stress this problem was not due to the workmanship. It was an issue with the wall itself. The problem was sorted out efficiently and very quickly (within a day of me reporting it). I certainly be plan to use this company again for future work and would happily recommend it to other people.

We needed somebody to re run the pipework on our central heating and hiding them from view by "chasing" them into our walls. From start to finish, Gary worked on what we needed, and came up with a solution which has totally transformed the inside of our house. We also asked to have some ceilings replastered to remove existing artex at the same time, which were all done to a very high standard. New skirting boards and coving fitted, again to a very high standard. Any small problems were dealt with effectively, and with no question. Highly recommend this company as an honest, reliable and work which is done to a high standard. Would have no hesitation to use them again.

Balance & Company executed several building projects in my garden. They included: creating a large patio; making (bespoke) and hanging traditional style timber doors; outside electrical power and lighting installations; and foundations for a shade sail. All aspects of the work were efficiently planned and executed. I am delighted with the results. Customer care featured throughout. I was kept well informed and the person having overall responsibility was always easy to contact. The completed projects were handed over to me with the words "If you find any problems with what we have done just call me and I'll be back to put things right". The entire process, from initial site meeting to handover, left me feeling that this company can be trusted.

I wanted to get our chimney stack re-pointed and rendered, the access to get up to the chimney is extremely tight and above the very narrow alley between two houses. In all, I contacted five building companies for a quote, I explained the situation to all of them, out of the five, only two came out to look at the job, one of them I haven’t heard from since, despite several calls to him. Gary from Balance & Co came straight out the next day, he looked at the job in the morning and I had the quotation by 5pm the same day. He gave me a start date and time, Lee was there on the dot on the day promised. Incidentally, I had already sorted out the scaffolding and it was there ready for him to start the job. His workmanship is second to none and he kept all areas spotlessly clean. Lee also took photographs at every stage of the works, to be honest, the chimney stack was in such a mess but you should see it now, it’s unrecognisable, absolutely superb. Replastering and decorating hallway completed quickly and neatly. No extra costs. The men made sure all was clean and tidy at the end of the day.

I needed a old bathroom re-fitting that also needed some structural repair as a result of years of prevous leakes and pour alterations. A freind recommended Balance & Co. They gave me two separate quotes. One for the repair work and one for the new fit out. This made budgeting and comparing costs a lot easier. They came in a bit pricier than others I compared with, but the information was a lot more detailed which made me more confident. Also, my friend couldn't recomend them enough, saying they were well worth the price. Having now used them, I couldn't agree more. They were kind and courtious and kept me fully informed all the way. They even dropped the price for one item that turned out easier to repair than they had anticipated. After they had finished, I found a couple of very minor faults. After I pointed them out they were back the very next day to put them right. Altogether, I was very impressed by both their work and by their customer care. I would definitely recommend them.

This is the 2nd time we have used Balance & Co and again they have done an excellent job. They have re-laid our patio and path and installed new drains, we are impressed with the final result its made a big difference to our property. They worked very efficiently, were very friendly and left our driveway in a clean state everyday.
