Barleycorn provided us with a fantastic removal service - they were always cheerful, well organised, and the standard of packing and care over the removals was really outstanding. It was when we asked them to move more than they were expecting that they really helped us though - and they really went that extra mile to help us and made our move a success. Barleycorn were excellent right from the start and even during lockdown took everything in their stride. The packing part was very efficient and took away a lot of the stress of moving, especially with young children. Chris came to our property to provide a quotation for our house move. We were provided with several options to suit a range of budgets. Easy company to work with, very reasonable price, and the guys who came to do the move were very efficient and friendly. The wardrobe wouldn’t get down the stairs so they dismantled it and rebuilt it in the new place with no problems at all. I’d highly recommend them as the service has been top notch from start to finish.

Great service from Chris and the team at Barleycorn! They were able to book us in with relatively short notice which was appreciated. The team came to pack one day and move us the next, they were all very friendly and professional and very fast in getting the jobs completed. The move was completed with no damage to either furniture or the properties themselves. Fully recommend Barleycorn and would use again!

The principal of Barleycorn reviewed our furniture and effects for removal against a comprehensive checklist and options for the level of service that we required. He promptly provided a detailed timetable and schedule of actions, with each procedure costed. He described the specialist range of protective coverings that would be used, e.g. covers for mattresses, soft furnishings, electrical items, plants, etc. The team of five duly arrived and worked with speed, skill, and care, loading and delivering to a 3rd floor apartment and 4th floor terrace. The effort involved was demanding and achieved with a positive and good spirited attitude.

Chris and his team stepped in at the very last minute to help me after another company had double booked themselves and let me down. In fact Chris cut short a trip to meet my family’s need and I honestly don’t know what I would have done without them. Barleycorn successfully moved my home contents from a larger house into a narrow 3 story house that didn’t quite fit the all of my furniture and belongings! Despite the rain and the amount of work involved the Barleycorn team were professional, calm, hard working, courteous and pleasant to be around all day. In terms of protecting my new home this team couldn’t have done more and took many precautions. To fit furniture in through tighter spaces the guys were prepared to remove (and replace!) anything they could such as handrails etc. I could not recommend this company more highly and admit I have never before felt such motivation to leave a review.

The team arrived punctually for my 2-day move and immediately engaged with their customer’s needs and priorities. Wrapping and boxing was carried out with a brilliant team playing approach, and their positive spirit working together was so helpful in easing the inevitable anxieties around the move. The next day the team arrived again in an upbeat mood. Boxes were placed correctly and stacked neatly on arrival; subsequently every single item was located and unwrapped intact. I have no hesitation in recommending them highly and send them a huge thank you for a job well done and for ensuring an otherwise very stressful process ran so smoothly.

Would definitely recommend - over 2 days they moved me from a big house to a smaller one with difficult access. The quote was very acceptable, and certainly not the most expensive I received, they arrived promptly on time and did an excellent job. All the packing was done with great care including special packaging for delicate items like clocks and canvas paintings. The men were professional, friendly and very understanding of what was quite a stressful move.

We had used Barleycorn for our own move last year, and hence had no hesitation in recommending them for our 70+ year-old mother, moving from London to Oxfordshire. Chris, Matt and the team were excellent - from the moment we met Chris (owner) through to the packing up of a large house through to the actual move from Oxfordshire to Cornwall - and the unloading. Team were all hardworking, thoughtful & personable. Having now unpacked most things, everything in perfect order... and all at a reasonable price. Did not get much warning of our moving date and needed to book a removal company with little time. Barleycorn were able to fit us in and were friendly and professional throughout. The move was completed quickly and I felt our possessions were treated very carefully. The team were all very friendly. Reassembly was done very well too. We used Barleycorn Removals for our removal, they were very professional, clean, tidy and very polite. they made our move out day stress free and dealt with everything, boxing up, moving out of one property and then moving in to the new property making sure all the boxes went to the correct rooms. Barleycorn were recommended to us and we can highly recommend them and had a great experience.

Following a telephone call to Barleycorn, Chris immediately arranged a home visit. It was an experienced and extremely helpful assessment of what needed to done. Usually companies ask you to empty garden pots but Chris said that this would not be necessary. A real bonus as I have some very heavy pots. On the day of the removal the three men went about their task with a great deal of experience and were polite and friendly. When they arrived at the other property the keys had not been released to me and there was a great deal of confusion with the letting agent, who were very unhelpful. However when Chris heard he asked the men to remain and see the job through. Which they did and remained calm and patient. In the last few years I have moved 5 times and without a doubt Barleycorn has been the most efficient, friendly and fair company that I ever dealt with. Evan to refusing to charge me more despite the fact that the removal men having to spend the whole day at the property. Chris rearranged his rota to accommodate the mix up caused by the letting agent. I do not think you will find a better run company than Barleycorn Removals. They were absolutely marvellous.

Great service from start to finish. I always find house moving very stressful but Chris and the Barleycorn team did everything they could to make this part of the process as relaxed as possible. We opted for the pack and move option and are really glad we did. The day before our move a team of 5 arrived on time, laid down floor protectors before anything else and got to packing. They individually wrapped cups, glasses and anything fragile, dismantled beds and had our whole house contents in the back of the vans in about 6 hours. The next day they met us at our new property, (over 200 miles away) when they said they would. They again protected the floors in the new house and had our beds rebuilt and the boxes in all the right rooms in under 4 hours. Not a single thing was broken in transit and I can't recommend them highly enough.

Chris and his team moved us last week to Hampshire and they couldn't have done a more professional job. They were courteous, polite and most of all exceptionally careful! We had another quote from a national removals company but very pleased we went with a local business. I cant recommend them highly enough!
