We employed Capital Painters to paint the outside of our house, and while the quote we received was not the lowest, but the most detailed, we are very pleased that we chose Matt to do the work. Matt decorated a small bedroom that had suffered water damage from a leaking roof. He gave us a clear and realistic quote and was able - with a bit of notice - to arrange to do the work when it suited us. He completed the painting a day earlier than he’d allotted and left the room immaculately tidy. We’re delighted with the professional job Matt did and also appreciated how friendly and thoughtful he was to have in the house - we will certainly contact him in the future for interior or exterior painting.

Matt from Capital Painters did a first class professional job for us. He arrived on the date agreed two months earlier. He tackled effectively the job of repairing the cracking caused by basement works next door at a price well below the “worst case” estimate given previously. He also completed the repainting of the adjoining bedroom on schedule and to a high standard. We are very pleased with the result.

I hired Matt to redecorate a Victorian period 1 bedroom property with very high ceilings that had suffered some water damage from a flooding episode from the flat above. The ceilings and cornice were stained and the work required a tall ladder. In addition, I asked Matt to paint some large sash windows which were in poor condition. Matt’s quote was reasonable (on a par to others I had received) and given the quotes were similar, I elected to go with Matt based on my impression of him when we met, as well as his previous positive work references. I had a narrow window for the work to be done in the run up to Christmas and Matt was able to fit me in. The work was scheduled to take 6 days and Matt was true to his word. I am very pleased that I elected to go with Matt, not only because of the professional quality of his work and the finish, but also because it was very easy to be around Matt (I had other jobs to attend to in the flat whilst he painted), and we got along well. Communication was good and working with Matt proved to be stress-free. Once the price was agreed, he just got on with the work and if anything came up, we were able to discuss it easily and come to a decision. The best thing that I can say is that I would happily hire Matt again.

Matt's decoration of a bedroom in my home was impeccable. He takes great pride in completing his work to the highest standards, and was a pleasure to deal with, and most helpful from start to finish. Matt did great work at my property in redecorating two bedrooms and my living and dining room in a Victorian house. He did an excellent job, making very tired rooms look new again. Matt (Capital Painters), carried out redecoration works to my flood damaged bathroom ceiling. Matt arrived punctually at 08.00am as arranged and completed works within one day and to budget, all as agreed. All exposed surfaces were covered and protected with dust sheets, prior to prep works. Loose and flaking paint sanded and removed. Cracks were filled and taped. Water damaged areas treated with stain block. Two coats of moisture resistant paint were applied. Matt was very helpful and kept me in the loop with progress. Upon completion, site was left clean and tidy and all rubbish carted away from site. I'm very satisfied with quality of finished job and would definitely recommend Capital Painters for redecoration works to others.

Matt came to do some exterior work for me for the second time. The standard of his work is exemplary. He believes that the time spent in careful preparation leads to long lasting results and I can see he will absolutely stand by his own principles when asked to do a job. His communication is not to be faulted, explaining how things were going as he went along, e.g. I had quite a bit of rot in my window sills where there were different options as to how to proceed. He made sure he talked these through with me. Matt is also very flexible and responded to my wish to add an extra piece of work to his original remit and to prioritise the order of the work to take account of my life events. It was very easy to have Matt around - he is just very focused on the job. I had no issue with him having keys to come and go as he needed. He would always clean/ tidy up at the end of the day. I think the most important thing for me was a feeling of trust, both in the standard of the work and the belief that Matt would bring anything untoward to my attention and that we could problem solve the situation.

Matt provided an excellent service, decorating three tired looking rooms: a bathroom and two bedrooms which hasn’t been decorated in a very long time. Quality of the work is excellent and I’m very pleased. Matt provided very good advice throughout, was flexible, communication was great, did the job on time and was a really clean and neat worker so easy to have in the house. Matt and Kevin did a great job in decorating our Kensington terrace house front and back walls included. Preparation was meticulous and we feel it will last a long time. What was particularly good was the close relation with the scaffolding company so that we were not left with scaffolding for weeks after the job was completed. In erecting the scaffolding a front step was damaged and Matt made sure that a repair was effected satisfactorily. We had obtained another quote which was much the same as Matt's but we went with Matt's due to the positive reviews on this site.

From the start to the finish, Capital Painters has been responsive, knowledgeable, truly helpful and utterly reliable. He has always been a pleasure to deal with. We have a two bedroom flat which is filled with delicate antique furniture. We escaped to Cornwall for the two weeks; reassuringly, they contacted me about three times to ensure he was doing as we wanted. Whilst we packed up contents to make moving the furniture easier, the team did a terrific job: the furniture was looked after, the painting is excellent and all finished on time. He has had the courtesy to check and double check that we are satisfied. We HIGHLY recommend Capital Painters to do a professional job and would DEFINITELY ask him again - though he’s done so well it should last for years!

Matt and his team from Capital Painters did a fantastic job repairing and painting the exterior walls, windows and doors of our four storey Georgian house. From the initial quoting process through to the final brush stroke they were a pleasure to deal with. Their work was thorough, professional and to a very high standard. Matt kept us informed of all aspects of the job, especially when it came to repairing the old, rotten window frames which they repaired and restored beautifully. They showed great flexibility in dealing with our constantly changing plans/schedule and delivered a property we can once again be very proud of! Well done!

Matt redecorated my flat after a recent fire caused some smoke damage, which included sealing walls, and repainting walls and ceilings. Having received a few unpersonalised quotes from other traders, I was impressed how honest and upfront Matt was, including advising me on options which ultimately ended up reducing the quoted price! His work was great, cleaned up afterwards after, and I would have no hesitation to appoint him again.

The best external decoration I have witnessed in many projects over 50 years. Most importantly, Matt surveyed the rear of our 3 storey house in detail to identify all weak points requiring repair. He did not paint over the top of the faults as has happened in the past. He repaired inaccessible rotten woodwork and pointing with what I considered was exceptional commitment. It goes without saying that the preparation and paintwork were very good, as were the punctuality, cost/ budget control, tidiness, cleanliness and site maintenance. The business process was handled very professionally from first visit and quotation through to invoicing and this process was supported by excellent communication and, I have to say, charm!

I found Matt/Capital Painters on Which? Trusted Traders so had hopes of good service and quality workmanship. Pleased to report that I wasn’t disappointed at all. The job was to repaint the front of 4 floor large terrace house in Brooke Green W14. Building is divided into flats and we manage maintenance ourselves. I got 2 quotes - Matts was competitive and provided quickly and with appropriate level of detail. Then the lockdown hit and I have to say Matt was superb in maintaining dialogue and flexibility as we worked out if/when the works could proceed. Matt organised scaffolding (I then paid their invoice directly) and then did a great job working solo to observe rules. Other flat owners complimented Matt on working efficiently and unobtrusively - tidying up carefully each day was a nice touch and appreciated. Work was completed as expected and to budget quoted. We communicated regularly from start to finish of the project, and I found Matt quick to respond and courteous in all communications. I’ve already asked Matt to quote for further works!

Matt was great at communicating from start to finish. He took a lot of care over the preparation of the walls and ceilings to give us the best finish. He worked quickly but got the job done to a high standard - and he even came back for an extra couple of hours to give it a final once over. He works really tidily and he always put the furniture back at the end of the day so we could use the space. We're looking forward to having him back to do the other half of the flat.

Matt undertook the redecoration of the living room and entrance hall in my apartment in Fulham to a very high standard within the timeframe and the price which was agreed for this job. I appreciated the fact that his estimate for doing this job was detailed so that I could see his price for the materials and his labour separately. He was polite and respectful at every stage of the process from obtaining his initial estimate through to completion of the job. I have no hesitation in recommending Matt as a first class painter and decorator who can be relied upon to complete his work to a very high standard on time and on budget.

Matt has just finished painting my living room and entrance hall on time and to budget. He was punctual, courteous and helpful. His preparation of surfaces was meticulous and the painting was carried out to a very high standard. Matt also kept the working area beautifully clean - no stray spots of paint and he used a machine that sands and sucks up the dust at the same time. So no extra cleaning from me was needed. Warmly recommended.

Matt was brilliant from start to finish. He took our rather crumbling paintwork on the outside of the house and steps and has completely transformed it. Matt was always approachable, gave good advice and guidance on colours and materials, and helped to make the job super easy. I work away from home but was happy for Matt to have access to the property - he was tidy and respectful, tidying up after himself and completely trustworthy. We're delighted with the finished work which came in on budget. Any delays were because Matt wanted to produce the best quality work and therefore didn't want to do external work when the rain would damage the final appearance. Really pleased and already planning the internal painting for next year. Would definitely recommend!

Matt made an excellent job of redecorating my bedroom which had not been painted for some time, and in consequence was in need of quite a bit of repair and making good, had numerous cracks etc. The room has now been completely transformed, looks light and bright and good as new. He has excellent attention to detail, did other work to put right things I had not even noticed needed doing, and I felt he took great pride in his work and was committed to doing a really good job. In addition, he was very pleasant and polite, and kept everything tidy.
