Colin and his team did a fantastic job putting in our new bathroom. Their confidence and experience meant that I could rely on great advice when choosing all the different components of the bathroom. Our house is very old but their 'can do' attitude meant that they were totally unfazed by any unexpected things uncovered during the renovation. This really helped taking in the stress out of it. Colin and the team did an absolutely incredible job on our house renovations and it’s totally transformed how we use the space. We couldn’t be happier. They installed a kitchen in a new location, renovated a small bathroom (including moving a wall), installed a new boiler and provided built in storage to a utility room. Colin is an outstanding project manager. He coordinated all the trades required at different stages of the project very effectively and kept everything running smoothly and on time. Colin also has incredible attention to detail. We have an older house and he had so many solutions to all the wonky walls and uneven floors to create a perfect finish. All the people he brought in completed their work to an excellent standard too and the whole team were friendly and approachable. Colin was great to work with. We hadn’t taken on a project of this scale before and there are a LOT of decisions to make. He had such a positive, practical and good humoured approach that everything felt less daunting. He also ended up being the best sounding board we could have asked for. He always had pragmatic, thoughtful advice every time we felt stuck and all of his suggestions were spot on. He made everything so much less stressful and we’re so grateful! Of all the many, many decisions we made on this project, by far the best one was hiring Colin. 100% recommend!

I found Colin Thompson an exceptional, professional joiner with excellent customer service, and a very pleasant person. Colin replaced an external door which had been badly damaged. He was quick to respond to our emails and phone calls. He realised the urgency we wanted to get the door fixed, and he responded accordingly. We are very happy with the full service he provided. After coming to see the damage, he gave us good advice which we agreed to. He replaced the door with a new one which is very strong and nice. He replaced the locks too, and cleared all the mess on completion of the work. He did an excellent job, and I would recommend Colin Thompson anytime.

We are beyond delighted with our new kitchen and utility, and would not hesitate recommending Signature Carpentry and Joinery to friends and family. Along with the old kitchen/utility removal and new kitchen/utility install. Colin and his team helped complete all the joinery, plumbing, electrical works, removal of dry walling in two different areas, removed an en-suite adjacent to the utility to extend the length of the room and closed off the doorway to the old en-suite area and plastering where needed. We also had new flooring installed throughout the kitchen, utility and hallway, and 11 new doors hung. Colin is highly skilled, reliable and trustworthy. He does not cut corners and his attention to detail is impeccable and helped guide us through the process and provided invaluable advice along the way. Colin Thomson provides exceptional service. He took a lot of time to listen to exactly what we wanted for 3 projects and turned down a 4th which would not meet his high standards. Colin did a really good job producing an attractive cupboard and bookshelf unit to hide a mess of meters and wiring over the meter cupboard in our guest bedroom. Colin was extremely helpful producing the design, doing all the work on time and leaving everything clean and tidy. We will definitely use Colin again.

I was looking to get work done on a unit for under the stairs. I contacted Colin and he came out and gave me some ideas and his advise. Ordered a two unit understaffs unit from him. This guy is very fussy about his work, very impressed. He works cleanly and everything has to be perfect. He always came when he said he would and kept me n the loop. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was explained. If I was going to be a joiner I'd like to be half as good as him.

Signature completed the transformation of my bathroom removing the old bath, toilet and sink and installing a new shower unit, wet walls etc. Colin showed great attention to detail and came up with the design of the new bathroom which has made it look night and day from before. His commitment to the job was phenomenal with customer satisfaction always at the centre of what he was doing. The work was done to a very high standard and the work area was left in clean and tidy condition, floor protectors used. I would highly recommend this firm.

Colin and his team came out to do a custom built in wardrobe and tiling part of the kitchen. Both jobs done to a high standard and felt listened too and options discussed before it got underway and ideas presented to us that we hadn’t thought of that would work better based on his knowledge and experience. Signature Joinery just completed work to two of our cloakrooms in an Edinburgh New Town, Georgian property. They have constructed new wood panelling with Georgian style dado, skirtings and panels to the walls. Their attention to detail and sensitivity to the age and style of the property was outstanding. They started and finished exactly when agreed, completed the work exactly to our specifications, cleaned up after every day, and ensured we were completely happy with the results. Our experience is that this doesn’t happen very often! The cost of this beautiful job was less than other quotes we had and we have already asked them to return to do other (larger) jobs in the renovation and general improvement of our property. We would not hesitate to recommend this company.

Signature Carpentry were excellent from start to finish. Colin came to see the proposed work when he promised, made good suggestions and provided a quote promptly with options where required. He adjusted drawings as necessary until we were happy with the finished design. Signature installed a handrail in our home and we are delighted with the installation which is exactly as Colin helpfully suggested. As well as that, Colin designed a bookcase to replace an old shelving unit in our study. It was partly constructed in the Signature workshop and then installed and finished to a very high standard on site. The finished article is so much more than we had even imagined it could be. Everything was carried out in the timescale advised by Colin. It was a pleasure to have such friendly, careful and considerate people as Signature Carpentry working in our home, and when he was allowed out of the van, getting to know delightful wee Buster, Colin's dog, was a bonus! We have no hesitation in recommending Signature Carpentry to anyone.

Could not recommend Colin enough! From the initial design, through the many redesigns as we were indecisive customers, he was patient and the most helpful all the way through to building the final product. Delighted with our 2 sets of fitted wardrobes, they are exactly what we wanted. The work was carried out very efficiently to a high standard and he squeezed us in to suit our schedules, and cleaned up after himself. We’ll definitely get Colin back for any future work and will be telling our friends to book him too.

I have been very impressed with Colin Thomson of Signature Carpentry. He supplied a detailed quote promptly and kindly fitted me in around a busy schedule as my job was urgent (I needed a new fire door fitted after a stair fire in an unoccupied flat). He even showed up on Mothering Sunday to finish off the work. When I subsequently needed a slip chain fitted, he tied in with other contractors and was very flexible about showing up for what was a five minute job. A true professional and as such, I would not hesitate to recommend him to friends and family.

Colin installed a new kitchen into my flat in the spring of this year (2019). It was a challenging job, not least because the layout of the kitchen was to change completely. Colin was one of the best I have ever worked with. He was professional, helpful, attentive, reliable, transparent and trustworthy. Since the kitchen has been installed, not only is it easy to work in but I am consistently complemented on the craftsmanship.

Colin was recommended to us by our painter and decorator when we required skirting in our lounge being happy with the result, we engaged him to fit six new doors. We can't recommend Colin strongly enough. He co-ordinated multiple tradesmen in installing our kitchen as well as undertaking the joinery himself, and additionally made and installed several bookcases in period style. His project management and communication with all concerned were excellent - he was timely, efficient, and unfailingly cheerful, even in the face of the sort of unexpected problems that can arise in an older house. Indeed we were very happy to leave him in charge while we went on a family holiday. There was complete clarity about billing at all stages. His own joinery was of notably high standard, and he showed a particularly good eye for detail, making several suggestions during the initial survey that ultimately greatly improved the result. Work was completed on time, and the work area was always left immaculately tidy. We would - in fact will - be delighted to use Colin again.

Excellent small piece of work carried out as agreed. Colin was polite, friendly, very efficient and fast. He left nothing to be cleaned up and answered a number of my queries both in connection with the work and several other queries relating to joinery. His costs were most reasonable.
