Cox & Taylor Ltd is a well-established family run firm that has been trading throughout the south east for over 35 years. We are full members of the NICEIC and have been since the company was founded in 1981. As such we will issue NICEIC certification for all electrical installation works carried out and notification that any works carried out under Part P of the Building Regulations are compliant.

As a family run business we are committed to providing a good quality, friendly and comprehensive service to all of our customers. We offer a full range of electrical installation works from installation of an additional socket outlet or light fitting to full re-wires, Electrical Installation Condition Reports, maintenance and upgrading of your existing installation, new consumer units and smoke, heat and CO alarm installation and much more.

We no longer had power in any of our sockets downstairs as the fuse kept tripping, leaving us with no power downstairs and our freezer defrosting. We emailed Cox & Taylor that night and asked for a response asap the next day. I received a call about 8am and someone came round straight away. After a thorough examination the problem was found and sorted - all within the same day. Really pleased and definitely would use again. Big thanks Cox & Taylor!

New single and double sockets fitted in my kitchen. Nick kept me informed about timescales. Price as quoted. Electrician was very professional and tidied up afterwards. Cox & Taylor were quick to respond and friendly - very happy with the service I received.

Time waster
I contacted this company and got a reply in return from Nick Taylor. "I’m sure we could fit it in before the end of the week if you are happy with the cost?" I was happy with the cost so I said please go ahead. Heard nothing more. Chased. Appointment made but unfortunately he didn't bother showing up. Called to ask why but phone was not answered. If you are looking to have your time wasted, I couldn't recommend Nick Taylor from Cox and Taylor Ltd highly enough. If you are looking for an electrician to do a job, not so much.

Hi, I hope you received email I sent you. I can only apologise for not geting back to you sooner than I did. I was off ill for a few days and unable to contact you. I can understand your frustration that we did not get the work carried out for you or get back to you to explain the situation. That is not the kind of service or lack of I would ever hope to give to a potential customer. Apologies again for the inconvenience we caused you and if you ever consider using us again i can assure you the service we would provide to you would be far better.

Kenji the electrician was brilliant. He came quickly. It was an urgent call as we’d lost power. He hunted for, found and sorted the problem. He then helped with a couple of minor problems too. Highly recommend.

Having spoken with a few companies Nick Taylor really stood out with his can do attitude. I was on a tight deadline and needed an electrical certificate quickly. Commercial change of use to Cafe

Cox and Taylor have been absolutely fantastic in helping me with all relevant electrical works from adding several new circuits to the installation of our fire alarm and smoke system. I took on the job to convert an empty shop into a cafe in Lewes and it would be fair to say there were times I thought I had taken on too much. Nick and his team have been responsive to my calls at all times and the quality of the work is second to none. I have no hesitation in recommending these guys for any residential or commercial work you may be undertaking.

New electrical safety standards for landlords

Nick Taylor undertook a DEICR in February/April 2018 and carried out the recommended works to comply with current regulations. When new electrical standards were introduced in July 2020 on rented properties my letting agents did not understand the implications of the regulations and tried to insist I needed new certification. Nick took the time and trouble to explain that this was not required to ensure I didn't need to duplicate the procedure and that the previous certification was valid for 5 years. I was impressed with the professional way he approached the problem to satisfy all concerned. I would not hesitate to use his firm again.
