Dan restored and repointed two exterior walls. He was reliable, finished to a high standard and consulted us carefully throughout the job so it was completed to our wishes

One of my walls was in need of repointing. It was a small job, but I still obtained a few quotes before picking Dan. He was amongst the cheapest but that was not the only deciding factor. After his initial visit, I was convinced he knew his trade better than the others, using hydraulic lime mortar rather than cement mortar, explaining the pros and cons of each, etc. Dan had a last minute cancellation and offered to do the work at my place a few weeks early. Of course I said yes. I can say I'm very happy with the results, the pointing looks neat, and he took the time to explain what he was doing. Hopefully no other walls will need touching up, but I'd happily hire him again.

Dan came and did a detailed look at the house and explained the process and the colours /use of cement v lime and all the stages. He did a detailed spec and told me what I really needed and what would be good to have and then nice to have. He put no pressure on us and was clear and reasonable priced. His work was of a very high standard and he and his team were a reassuring presence. He helped me to find someone to look at my windows and suggested other names when I asked for views about the roof.

A small job, but we are very happy with the work. Good communication, reasonable price, he always turned up when he promised to.

Dan re-did the pointing at two parts of the house where there were holes in the mortar. He came when he said he would, cleaned up after himself, and he and his team did such a good job that it's made me think I need to do the rest! It looks great - like a higher quality house. He clearly knows his stuff and the cost was reasonable. Would absolutely recommend.

Basically was exactly what he said on the tin which is all you really want from tradesmen working at your house - came got on and completed the work and left, no drama's Also, was willing to do additional small works when on site and helped me out using the scaffold tower which I used to paint the back of the house while he was on site Would not hesitate to recommend Dan to any family, friends or nieghbours!

Dan and Paul repointed the front facade of my Georgian terraced house in lime mortar. I had discussed the work with Dan the year before it was undertaken. He was one of half a dozen specialists that I asked to quote. Dan was fully booked for several months but I was happy to wait because he seemed to me to be the most knowledgeable and straightforward of the people I had seen. I am glad I waited. Dan and Paul did an excellent job and were a pleasure to deal with. Dan advised me on the colour and finish before the work was undertaken. They made up several trial areas in different finishes and colours. The worked carefully and efficiently. The pointing looks beautiful and Dan will return to finish up any last details when the scaffolding is taken down.

Dan carried out the repointing on the upper flat of our two storey property. The work was done on time and to budget and the quality of the workmanship was outstanding. Dan was exceptionally helpful and polite and took great care over all aspects of the job. I wouldn't hesitate to re-engage Dan's team again and can't recommend them highly enough.

Dan came to repoint a south west facing wall of the house. The mortar on the wall had started to deteriorate and was allowing water to ingress into the house. Dan arrived on time to do a review of the job and provide his quote for the work promptly. The work was carried out as quoted and the site was left clean and tidy after the job. Dan did a great job of blending the new mortar in with the existing colour and it is very difficult to see the existing and new work. Very good communications and very helpful advise on further steps I can take to waterproof the wall. Would highly recommend Dan.

From my first communications with Dan Evans (pointer) I found him to be open, efficient and reliable. He answered all my questions, and on his first site visit carefully explained his work process. He gave me a range of options and followed them up in his quote by breaking it down into two alternatives. The job was to rake out old mortar and repoint two sides of a Victorian two storey house. At our first meeting early this year, he explained that he could not start new jobs until late July as the diary was full, I was happy to wait. At the start of July an earlier slot became available and scaffolders were organised at short notice. Everyone did their part efficiently and without problem. Dan and Paul started work during the recent heatwave and worked extremely hard in horrible conditions. They did long days and were friendly, efficient, considerate, polite and really very nice people to have around. I trusted both of them completely. They came when they said they would and did what they said they would do and I am really happy with the quality and finish, they are artisans and a good team. Dan and his team of Paul and Barney have carried out a first class job of re-pointing the front of our Victorian House. Their work is of the highest calibre and their knowledge of the style of building is first rate. They managed to replaced over 130 old red bricks which are indistinguishable from the remaining original bricks. They would begin working at 8:00am every morning and clean up after every day's work and were friendly, courteous and professional. The result is a joy to see and we would thoroughly recommend them. The budget was fair and the schedule was spot on.

This job was to repoint large areas to the front and side of our house, and to clean and repair a number of blown and cracked bricks. The quality of the work was very high and met all of our expectations. Dan and Paul worked hard from 8am every day and kept everything clean and tidy at all times. Dan listened to what we wanted and the finished job was exactly what we were looking for. The work was completed within the time and cost quoted. Would happily recommend.

This is the second time Dan has undertaken repointing on my house. He has done a great job on both occasions, carefully matching the mortar colour to the existing & matching the pointing style to the existing brickwork - this is particularly important as the house is listed & part of a Georgian terrace. Following damage to our garden wall by a massive sycamore tree, which has now been cut down, Dan Evans and his colleague replaced bricks and repaired and pointed the wall. I was delighted with the pointing work Paul carried out on some crumbling brickwork at my property. From Dan's first visit to quote for the job to the final result, I was impressed by how much they both knew about their specialist area, spotting things I hadn't even noticed and finding ingenious ways to repair hard-to-reach places. I had a problematic rear wall at my house that had, in the past, been repaired with lots of unsightly cement patches. I wanted to install a new terrace, so wanted to make the wall look nicer, and asked Dan to quote for replacing the affected bricks. Dan gave excellent & honest advice - rather than replacing the bricks, which would be v expensive, he suggested that he 'colour in' the cement patches to help them blend in with the surrounding brickwork. He did this to a very high standard and I'm very happy with the result - both effective and cost-effective. Dan also re-pointed my chimney stack. All of the work he carried out was great, and the rear of my house looks much better as a result. Throughout, Dan was a real pleasure to work with - great communication, hardworking, on time, and completely trustworthy. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to others.

I never understood that pointing was a combination of skill and artistry and a discrete profession within the building trade. Dan patiently help my hand through the process of deciding which colours to use by painting several small areas with different mixes . In fact I never realised that there were different colours and finishes. Existing damaged and marked bricks were invisibly repaired to give a new appearance. The job revived a poorly constructed front entrance to give my house excellent kerb appeal and a very satisfied customer.

Dan and Paul did a fabulous job of pointing the front of our house and patching up bits at the side and back. In extremely inclement weather and with the ongoing Covid situation they kept on track with the work and produced a super result. Given the circumstances they were always extremely cheerful, professional and kept us updated at all times with the works. From what could have been a very dusty job, they kept mess to a minimum and cleaned up each evening. The final amount did not change from the amount quoted. This is the first job, in a long time, where we have had work done to the house and there has not been any issues (which is so refreshing in this day and age). Front garden wall between our house and next door, has suffered over the years, Dan, once contact was quick to come and give us a quote. He then managed to fit us in earlier than expected due to another job being postponed. In these strange COVID times Dan &, his co-worker, Paul, where happy to be self contained and we really did not know they were there. Dan repointed the back of our terraced house. Very straightforward process for us from start to finish. The site was kept very tidy and cleaned daily. The result is brilliant. Dan kept us informed at each stage and was able to fit round our requirements.

Dan was instructed to complete re-pointing and repair work to the walls of my house. While being a small job (3 days) Dan was able to be flexible with the timings and fitted in the work at a time that suited me. The original price quoted was the price I paid on completion. From the start of the process Dan was happy to talk me through the work and was very knowledgeable and happy to explain the processes needed to be done. Dan and his colleague arrived on time and were very polite and professional. The job was messy but they cleaned down every day and left the property looking neat and tidy. While there were 3 snagging issues, as there always will be, these were dealt with quickly and professionally with Dan returning in the week to discuss, confirm and complete the work to my satisfaction. We asked Dan to repoint a 150 year old wall in our garden and repair a modern, rendered wall. It may sound silly - but I have never admired a wall so much in my life! We contacted Mr Evans about repointing our house. He arrived on time and took the time to talk through what we wanted including style and colour of the repointing and including replacing cracked bricks. His quote separated out his work from the erection of scaffolding, which we paid for separately. Mr Evans did warn us that the work was very noisy and dusty. He went to great lengths to prevent dust getting into the house. Before the scaffolding was removed, Mr Evans walked us round the house to make sure we were happy with the work. Then at completion of the work he checked again that we were happy. Throughout the work Mr Evans and his colleague arrived promptly, worked very hard, kept us informed on progress and tidied up at the end of the day. During the time we formed a good relationship with Mr Evans and he always took the time to listen to our comments and needs. When the work was completed, he invoiced us promptly for the same sum as the quote. We recommend Mr Evans to undertake any repointing you may need.

Dan's work was of the highest standards. We have just had the front of our house repointed after he and his colleague repointed our large back patio and a garden wall built of old stock bricks. They both demonstrated good technical knowledge for the type of pointing needed in each case. Having tried some cowboys last year I can really see the difference when professionals do it. Admittedly it's early days. It will be important to see how long the work lasts but they took no short cuts, worked long hours 08:00-16:00 every day and were superb at cleaning up at the end. Even photographed positions of plant pots before moving and replacing. On a personal note, the three projects meant they were with us for much of the Summer and there were two important family issues that needed their attention. I was impressed by the short absence from work and the open and honest communication I received about this at the time. Very happy to recommend Dan and his colleague

Contacted Dan about repointing my daughters house front. He was really busy, as he is so good, and it took a while for him to come out. But he kept me informed throughout. He and his team came and did a really professional job. We were very happy with his work and has lifted the look of the house.
