D S Mead Limited

D S Mead was one of the builders recommended to me by architect for my house renovation project. Doug provided a competitive quote for work that included new build extension, replacement boiler, relocated oil tank and heating system, replacement dormer ensuite, rewire, new windows, GF remodelling and new chimney and roof. Doug liaised with Building Control on my behalf and provided good advice throughout project. He and his team were happy to accommodate extra work that I decided to have done at the same time. All of Doug's team and contractors provided excellent service and work throughout the contract. The additional insulation installed means that my house is now beautifully cosy in the cold January weather. Excellent work, I would definitely recommend D S Mead Ltd. for home renovations and other building work.

All went to plan except for window supply date which was out of their control . We are very pleased with the end result and found living with the inevitable disruption more bearable due to a friendly and accomodating team. Rob, Lawrence and Graham seemed to carry out the work very professionaly and with good communication with each other and with us. Additional works requested by us were accommodated readily. All in all a good job done with no cause for complaint. Well done Doug and team.

D S Mead Builders were recommended to us by a friend who had an extension built a few years previously. Having contacted Doug to arrange for a quote, we arranged a date and time for him to visit, and upon his arrival we were confident that he was both genuine and honest. The quote received was informative and professional, giving a breakdown of the works involved and a timeline of the building works, including a cost breakdown of each element of the build. Once we had reviewed the quote we contacted Doug again and he paid a second visit to cross the T’s and dot the I’s. We were very happy to instruct him to commence the building works. The works started a few months later (which we expected), and from day one we knew we were in good hands. All of the tradespeople worked to the highest standard and were a pleasure to have working for us. Everyone from the Grounds works chaps, the Bricklayers, Carpenters, Roofers, Plasterers and Electricians were clearly very experienced and carried out their role impeccably. We were constantly kept informed of the progress/timeline by Rob the Foreman, calling round or telephoning pretty much daily to ensure everything was ok. Nothing was too much trouble. We are so happy with the finished extension and would have no hesitation in recommending DS Mead Builders. You will not be disappointed.

Doug and his team converted our loft into an upstairs, built a read extension, fitted two new bathrooms and a kitchen, installed new heating, upgraded the electrics and built a new larger patio. From the start Doug was very prompt with his quote and time frames. Throughout the build his team were friendly and professional and were very approachable, answering all my questions no matter how ridiculous they probably were. The build stuck to schedule and price. Dougs team took pride in their work and always made sure everything was finished to the highest standard. At the end of each day they made sure everything was tidy and as clean as possible. We would highly recommend.

DS Mead Ltd were recommended to us and we would have no hesitation in recommending them on. They have an excellent team of staff and sub-contract trades-people who work very well together. They carried out a complete renovation of a four-bedroom detached house we had bought, in the three month agreed time scale. We appreciated their regular advice on how work was progressing against the agreed timescale. The work came in at the agreed budget and our many extras were always priced before agreement was reached to undertake the extra work. Where there were occasional problems, possible solutions were discussed in an open manner, prior to the way forward and cost being agreed. The whole team were thoughtful, tidy and considerate and a joy to have around the property.

The building is old and internally fragile so I wanted the old render removed gently - no percussive tools. I was struggling to find someone willing to take on the job. Although the job a new one to Doug he was happy to take it on. From day one the team were understanding, helpful and willing. I complicated the task by doing what I could, some carpentry and the exterior painting to reduce the overall cost. At no time did this prevent or hinder an extremely smooth progression through the job, as the whole team were supportive and efficient. The final result was excellent and the internal disruption is minimal. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone. With the exception of a few extras , which I asked for and agreed, the invoice was exactly as quoted. Thank you one again Doug and the whole team. Look out I'll be back.

Internal alterations completed to a very high standard and all workmen were skilled in their trade being both professional and friendly. They arrived on time and completed the work with minimal fuss. Mr. Mead ensured that everything flowed smoothly and we would have no hesitation in recommending this company.

We were so pleased we waited for Doug's team to become available after three different people had recommended them to us. The wait was well worth it. The work was done within the schedule and price was as quoted. He has a great team of experienced tradesmen working for him and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend him if you were thinking of having any building work done. I have used this firm for several building jobs and they have done me proud. Most recently I used them for a large renovation which has been done beautifully.
