Covid update. I'm surveying properties if unoccupied during the survey. I wear a face mask, rubber gloves and shoe covers (or take shoes off). We should discuss the issue before, during and after by phone.
It takes about 90 minutes, includes fixes during the survey and a report with any estimated additional work - the fee is £250.
Homebuyer reports take 1 day, otherwise 7 days.
I'm an independent surveyor, RICS qualified Expert Witness and Damp and Timber surveyor through PCA + ISSE and SPAB.
Rising damp is from groundwater. Groundwater is pumped out below the height of the tube line - therefore it is virtually impossible in London.
It is misdiagnosed as:
1. vested interest from rising damp contractors,
2. it can be very hard identifying the root cause of damp,
3. applying slurry to treat rising damp hides dampness for a while. However there is a risk of ROT or MOULD.
