Fitting of new domestic electric distribution board

Required some tidying up of garage electrics and a new distribution board for the house. Dave responded promptly and provided a detailed quotation. Timescale for completion was agreed and all the work was done on schedule and to a high standard. Every phase of the work was explained to me and afterwards all the certification etc was received within a couple of days. Would definitely recommend and have already been in contact to arrange some further work.

Quality work, with house left clean and tidy

We’re repeat customers of Day and Knight, having had them complete some remedial work on our new house in 2023. The latest job involved installing outdoor wall lights, security camera, additional plug sockets and sorting out a kinetic switches for a couple of interior wall lights. The work was done according to the quote, with Dave and Scott working to get it completed in half a day. Aside from plenty of good humour, the guys are pleasant to deal with. They’re well known and respected in our village, with plenty of our neighbours and the local pub using them. We’ll be having them around on the next job.

We first used Dave and Scotty when our newly installed shower stopped working. We knew our electrics were very dodgy as the old guy who lived here before thought he could bodge everything! Had a bit of a shock when we were shown just how close we came to having the bungalow catch fire. Originally Dave suggested that a review of what work would be needed to bring the wiring up to safety standards and also change the fuse board and bring it inside. This was the cheapest option but we decided to go for a full rewire, but I thought it was really good that we weren't pushed into this option. We had a comprehensive quote and accepted this. A date agreed and on the dot of 7.45am 19 Sept 2023 the work started. Three and a half days later all the wiring was completed and safe. We decided to sort out the plastering and decorating ourselves but we were given details of contractors that were recommended. All told, a brilliant job done in a friendly, professional manner. Dave even came back to replace an outside light that we thought was a bit too bright and bought his dog to meet our dog Moli!

Was punctual and on time, honest and very clean with all of his work. Dave was a great chap to install new fuseboard, check electrics and fit new sockets and lightswitches in the property. Would reccomed him to any of my friends and family and will definately call him again for further work.

Great service from a good team

I needed a Zappi car charger installed, and an Optimmersion controller replaced by an Eddi, to work with my existing solar installation. Dave came and reviewed the work, and recommended the replacement of my consumer unit rather than an add on. This made sense as it actually improved the installation (RCBO's to replace a single RCD, and surge protection). On installation day, checked out the whole house for safety before starting and found a minor issue which was also fixed. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend if anyone needs work doing, and the products (Zappi, Eddi) that they install work great for my needs.

Knight and Day electrical contractors were recommended by a neighbour for a number of electrical tasks within our property After an initial visit an estimate was provided and I was able to discuss the estimate with Mr. Knight via video link where I accepted the estimate The engineers arrived in company clothing on time at the agreed date and efficiently carried out the work keeping us informed at every stage The engineers worked diligently and cleared and tidied at regular intervals and on completion The work exceeded my expectations and I would certainly recommend the company based on our experience

Emergency replacement of consumer unit

We had a total failure of our consumer unit and our emergency cover had not materialised after 2 days with no power. Called Day & Knight and Dave and Scott came out within a couple of hours, replaced the unit, checked all the electrics and we were back up and running. Fantastic service and we would highly recommend - they will be our go-to electricians in the future.

Fitting of Hive Hub, Thermostat and Receiver to existing system

I had received a Hive Hub, Thermostat & Receiver for Christmas and I needed to have them fitted. I contacted Dave, whom I have used before, and we agreed when he would visit, he arrived on time to look at what I wanted doing, made suggestions and a few hours afterwards e-mailed me a copy of the quotation. I accepted the quote and a Date / Time was agreed for when the work was to be carried out. On the morning of the day the work was to be carried out I received a call from Dave asking if they could come a few hours earlier than agreed, this suited me, so I agreed. Dave & Scott arrived on time and carried out the work specified, however it was noticed during the installation that the current cylinder thermostat was quite old and was not earthed so a new one was obtained and fitted. I now also now have a new Wiring Station fitted and I am now quite pleased both with the work carried out and also the fact that I can now control the heating more easily. I would certainly recommend Dave and his company to anyone who needs a reliable electrician in the Stafford area.

Electrical safety check. New fuse boards and circuit extensions.

We are having an electric shower and hob and needed new circuits to these. Our existing fuse board was old and we had not had an electrical inspection for several years. We live in a barn conversion with a few bits of damp. Day and Knight first did an electrical inspection which identifies a couple of sockets needed replacing and mounting proud of the wall and old power outlets to be removed. The new fuse box was then installed and other minor electrical work with existing wiring undertaken. A route for the new circuits was identified and a mutually convenient date agreed for that to be installed. The second visit saw an armoured cable installed round the garden wall to provide power via a second fuse box to near where the new units were to go. Two days of work. Very tidy and pragmatic calling on a lot of experience. Paperwork followed immediately after job. Would use again.
