We would like to introduce you to Dee Cee Upholstery and Interior’s World of Comfort.
Established in 1978, we are one of the South’s leading experts in Upholstery and Rise and Recline Mobility Chairs.
Partner in Dee Cee Upholstery, Derek Caplen, became the youngest master Upholsterer in the UK at the tender age of 21, and by the age of 43 he had become the youngest Fellow of the Association of Master Upholsterers for his outstanding contribution in training young people, and dedication to the A.M.U. and Soft Furnishers.
As suppliers of award winning, quality Rise and Recline Mobility Chairs, we are acknowledged experts, recommended by occupational therapists, physiotherapists and healthcare professionals, and are approved specialist suppliers to local councils and the NHS.

Sofa seat cushions

We had a problem with the cushions on a sofa we bought recently as they were too deep and lumpy. We took them to Dee Cee Upholstery who were happy to discuss our problem and then went on to alter them and renew the filling. This has improved their comfort enormously.

As a valued existing client who had bought a new sofa, we are only too pleased to help and rectify our customers cushions. The comfort level of the cushions was not good. Also, over hung by 3 inches at the front. In the first instance I advised them to take up their complaint with the furniture shop that they had purchased it from. They supplied replacement seat cushion interiors which did not solve the issue. The cushions were brought to us and we duly replaced the foam interiors with a "sandwich" foam and trimmed 3" off the back of the cushion. This course of action proved successful.

Custom cut upholstery foam

I required upholstery foam to make extra cushions for my dinning room chairs. Karen was very helpful and patient in enabling me to choose the depth of foam required and her colleague was meticulous in creating a template for the carvers, a particularly difficult task due to the placement of the arm supports. The finished articles were completed on the date specified and were well executed. The service was professional, yet friendly. I would clarify my comment on value to say that I did not seek alternative quotes but can confirm that I was happy with the cost.

Our customer had 6 x dining chair seats and 2x carver chair seats foam cut to shape and size . In our fully equipped workshop in Portswood Southampton , we use a special air compressed foam cutter which has 2 x reciprocating blades , as one blade goes down the other blade goes up. The cost of the Bosch foam cutter / knife costs in the region of £ 800.00 plus vat . The fire retardant foam that was supplied was a firm P 38 and once the templates were made we were able to cut the foams to the required size and shape . Another happy and satisfied customer.

I asked Dee Cee Upholstery to re-cover two sofas and replace the foam cushions. As always, the quality of the work was outstanding. I return to Dee Cee Upholstery time and again as I feel that I am guaranteed to get skilled craftsmanship and a beautifully finished result. The sofas were returned to me ahead of schedule and on budget and the service throughout was excellent and very helpful. I would really recommend Dee Cee Upholstery.

Our Customer from Bentley ( which is over 30 miles away ) returned to us for the re-upholstery of 2 x sofas ,to be recovered in a Sanderson fabric . The high quality traditionally styled sofas with loose seat and back cushions which were self piped in the same fabric and fitted with zips . We replaced the seat cushion interiors with a good quality medium density fire retardant foam which were wrapped with polyester and stockinet lining . It's great to hear that our service was excellent and very helpful , and that they would really recommend us . Thank you for your continued business

Derek was friendly & highly professional.He supplied an estimate which he kept to and did the work on time .He supplied polyester reinforcement to 5 cushions from our 2 Multi York sofas .He also renewed the foam , recovered & fitted a new stanchion to our large stool and made 4 arm covers for the sofas. He went out of his way to find the best colour matches for the fabrics and delivered the finished work to our home. All the work was done to the highest standard . He is a true master craftsman and his work is worth every penny .Would definitely recommend him .

Our customer from Upper Shirley had their 5 back cushion interiors filled with extra polyester wadding. We also fitted a pneumatic piston stantion to their large pouffe. It was nice to read the comment that “his work was worth every penny”

I was recommended to Dee Cee Upholstery when unable to find a suitable new replacement for existing furniture. At first I was a bit concerned, but now so pleased that I made the decision to use them, they were so helpful, they obtained my choice of fabric to match my furniture, kept to their promised timescale and returned the items in absolute new condition. We always use DeeCee for all our refurbishment work. He is very skilled at restoring antique furniture as well as modern pieces and they look, and are, solid and faultless. It is an excellent all round experience starting from objective help to choose the appropriate fabrics and with an eye to the end product. I recently asked Dee Cee Upholstery to cut some new foam pads for my Ercol dining chairs. They were ready in double quick time and they even put them into the covers which would have been rather awkward for me to do. The chairs look like new now!
