I wanted some external floodlights under the roofline across the front of my property and, after much research, was considering undertaking the work myself (although I must stress I am not an electrician). I priced the parts and planned the installation but wanted a quote from a qualified electrician. That's when I found the Which ? Trusted Trader service and I'm very pleased that I did. Darren (DWS is his initials) came round and discussed the work before submitting a detailed quotation. Having a good idea of the parts cost already, I considered his labour charges very reasonable - all thoughts of doing the work myself soon disappeared. We agreed that he would use my ladders and I would support him with these from a safety aspect. The job was planned for January but, due to the weather, had to be postponed. Nevertheless he arrived on the agreed date and on time. We offered him an alternative job replacing 4 interior lights (we were let down by another electrician before Christmas). He completed the work without fuss and for a very reasonable charge. The external floodlights were re-scheduled for February (due to both mine and Darren's commitments). Again he arrived on time and fully prepared. This time the work was completed and I'm very pleased with the result. Darren is courteous, professional, very tidy in his work, with attention to detail. He supplied the necessary paperwork to support the job. I would not hesitate to use him again or recommend him to family or friends.

We have had a Darren do several jobs for us in a relatively short space of time. Initially just electrical work but subsequently other jobs that he was willing to take on. Everything he does is of the highest standard, he does not compromise quality for speed/convenience and is always happy to make that extra effort to get something right. He is very friendly and helpful always looking to find a solution for any problem or design decision you have. He is reliable and conscientious and works in a organised and tidy way that minimises disruption but also making sure to clean up afterwards. In short we highly recommend Darren and we have an ongoing list of things we will be asking him to do for us.

We needed the Consumer Unit moving, which required a replacement unit to bring up to current specification. Darren responded quickly to our request and promptly provided a very reasonable estimate and timescale for the job, turned up at the specified time and carried out the job to the expected timescale. He worked in a very professional manner, paying a great deal of attention to the detail of the job and working in a very efficient and extremely tidy manner, I don't think I have seen any other electrician do such neat work - no shortcuts or mess left despite having to cut a large hole in plasterboard! Very friendly and informative about what needed doing, how he was going to do it and the reasons things had to be done. Highly impressed, no hesitation in recommending Darren for any electrical work, very good value.

Darren installed new consumer unit, add socket to radial in kitchen, earth bonded water and gas pipes, replaced light pendants, light switches, sockets, changed some single to double sockets, led light for kitchen, moved landing light from a dangerous position overhanging stairs (when changing light bulb) to a far more accessible position. Darren cleaned up as he went along, there was no mess. He finished all work so that it looked neat and tidy. The work was done to the agreed date, time and budget. Darren was knowledgeable and suggested different options when discussing the work to be done. Communication was good and timely. Certificates for the electrical work and building regulations arrived shortly after the work was completed. Darren was always good humoured, helpful, friendly and interesting. He was also Alzheimer friendly. A pleasure to have around. We discussed further work - replacement of quiet extractor fan for bathroom, dimmable light and alarms. Would highly recommend. 5 stars.

DWS connected up my waterfall pump and lights in my back garden. Darren was the consummate professional, a genuine good guy and his pricing for the work was very fair. Part of a new kitchen installation, Darren advised, checked and certified the new work, and installed a new consumer unit, checking and certifying the rest of the house to finish. His friendly and informative manner made this work largely nondispruptive, and he’s neat and tidy while he works. I’d happy recommend Darren to anyone who asked.

Installed external socket, 3 fire alarms and the door bell. Provided advice on the best choice and location for the alarms. Work done as agreed, on schedule and budget despite a "helping hand" from a 4 month old puppy. Fully recommend.

Darren fitted new bathroom lights, replaced external light on the drive and rewired new switches in the hall. He was on time and very professional. Took his time and delivered a really good job. Would recommend him and will certainly use him for future work.

Our property needed a full re-wire and in total we had 4 electricians come out and quote for this job. We decided to go for Darren as his quote was the best value for money and we were impressed by his attention to detail, the suggestions he made and how he listened to our requests. Darren always worked neatly and was considerate checking in with us when he needed to turn the power off. We had several other trades people on the job, all whom he communicated well with. He always showed up when he said he would and we never had to chase him up. We have no hesitation recommending Darren to anyone.

Darren did a partial rewire, he provided a great service and was really helpful, friendly and very reliable. The quote was reasonable and he answered all my questions (and there were a lot) really well, explaining everything. I would have no hesitation in recommending him and will definitely use him in the future when I need any more electrical work doing.

What work did they do? - I contacted DWS to resolve a bundle of issues during the visit, including a blown fuse, repair of several light fittings & sockets, and some snagging issues from the previous electrician. Was it done to the agreed schedule and budget? - Absolutely. The pricing structure was clear, there were no surprises, and Darren's fee was excellent value indeed. It was easy to make the appmt, Darren attended at the agreed time, and worked efficiently and thoroughly. Communication was refreshingly clear and professional throughout the process. What made the trader stand out? Over and above resolving the electrical issues, Darren was helpful and professional, explained what he was doing, and willingly gave really helpful and considered responses/suggestions to my questions about current and future electrical work needed in the property. He gave valuable advice in relation to wiring of our current solar inverter, and also put me in contact with an electrical boiler engineer able to repair our (unusual) electric boiler. I am relieved to have found an electrician who inspires confidence, and I will certainly contact Darren again for help resolving future electrical issues.

came to give a quote shortly after our initial contact, provided the quote promptly and on acceptance of the quote arranged an early date that was suitable for us. arrived promptly on the day of the work. Worked efficiently without fuss and without mess. explained exactly what he was doing and then performed the work to a high standard. When the invoice followed, it was for the exact amount of the quote... no unforeseen extras etc and was entirely reasonable. I will be using his services again.

This is the second time Darren has done work for me. Last time he installed 2 large distribution boxes and checked all the circuits. This time he ran armored cabling to the garage and installed additional sockets and security lights. Darren issues detailed estimates, carried out the work meticulously at a convenient time and costs are as stated in the estimate. All installation certificates are forwarded with the invoice. He enjoys a challenge and has solved all the electrical problems my old house has presented. An excellent electrician.

This was the second time we have hired Daren and DWS Electrical Services to complete work for us. Daren has re-routed / re-located an existing unused wall socket, to connect our washing machine. He also installed a new wall socket and associated wiring for connection of a new Dish Washer. He also tested the sockets, and the main switchboard for us. Daren was on time, discussed and explained clearly all the things to consider for the job, and provided the optimum solution to the problem, involving the least damage possible to the property. All work was completed within budget of original quotation. Overall, he left the house very tidy. What impressed me both times I have worked with Daren was that he is very approachable and polite, and listens to the customer's questions, explaining the choices he makes. Darren changed the light fittings in our front room and kitchen and even stayed around to help us put some curtain poles up as well. Great service and have recommended to friends and family.
