I’ve been travelling from Manchester over the past 5 yrs to this garage because of their reviews. Indeed I posted a 5 star review on 27th April 2020 on the “Which portal” My last service 21/12/2021 cost £283 . I collected the car with mud and oil all over the mat and seat but let it go. The day after whilst in our local B Q car park the car wouldn’t start and it stunk of diesel. Had to pay for a recovery from the RAC. They had not reconnected the fuel line correctly and the engine was full of sprayed diesel with an empty tank To boot. It took weeks for the smell to go. On reading the invoice found they had done an “Engine flush” without my consent even though the car had only done 2000 miles since the last service and the odometer was at 16000 mls in total. The engineer doubted that the oil had been changed at all . They charged a additional £9.99 for the oil flush. They did apologise and refunded £40 but I want to post my experience for others to judge. I’m totally against oil flushes on engines with so little mileage done.

I have been using this garage regularly for the last 2/3 years for all of my family cars (3) spending in the region of £2,500 mainly because of the friendly nature of the staff and convenience. The work has generally been satisfactory and I have been happy to provide positive feedback to family and friends when asked. However, on this occasion the outcome has left a sour taste. I required my bumper fixing after a small accident and left the car with the garage for them to determine whether it could be fixed. I received a call later that day to say that it could be fixed (£190 +VAT) which I was happy with and arranged the appointment. On completion of the work I called to collect it and paid the required amount. That weekend I was cleaning the car and noticed that there were still noticeable ripples in the bumper where it had been repaired, so I took it back and the garage owner agreed and we arranged to take it back for them to sort out. Later, that day I received a call to say that to do the job properly I would need to pay another £200 (later reduced to £100) needless to say I was shocked. Why had they not done the job properly in the first place? Why would I have not wanted the job doing properly in the first place? The reason they gave me was that it would have cost more, but I hadn't asked them to do it on the cheap!! Had they given me a quote to 'do the job properly' in the first place for £390 + VAT...fine. Needless to say, I won't return or recommend any longer.

I hate phoning garages to ask for work be done on my cars. This garage replied to my email enquiry within 12 hours with a clear no nonsense quote. Booked it in the day after for 7.30am the following day and left it with them while I went for a walk down the canal towpath for an hour. No phone call trying to rip me off for something I didn’t need but just to tell me my vehicle was ready for collection. Very happy and worth traveling from Manchester.

I've known Paul, the owner, since the 80's (!) and have been bringing my cars to him for MOT, service and repair during all those years - and will continue to do so! I've never had reason to question his judgement or invoices, and completely trust him. He doesn't do work if it doesn't need doing, and you get charged a fair price for what is done. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend EK Motors! And my Dad trusts them too... which is a gold seal of approval!
