We had a 4-story semidetached house that needed a major external refurbishment. I got quotes from 3 builders and ETW Building Services were the cheapest but also gave me confidence that they would do a good job. It has been a pleasure using ETW, they turn up when they say they will, are good value for money, and friendly to have around the house! More importantly the work was of a high standard and Ted, the owner, is very communicative. I don't think I ever had to call him once in the four weeks they were on site, he always called me first. The initial estimate was detailed, and it was clear what was included in the estimate and what was not. Being an old house there were always going be extras, these were properly quoted for and easy to reconcile with the final bill. The only thing we had to pay before the end of the job was for the scaffolding and we did not receive the final bill until the last of the snagging had been completed. I am very happy with my experience and would recommend ETW for anyone needing building work done on their house.

We like Ted, but less than three years after having the front of the house painted, we have had to get it repainted by another company because it was peeling off and looking terrible. Despite explaining all this to Ted, he seemed unwilling to take a proper look at the current condition, to explain what had happened, or to provide a quotation for fixing the problem. Evidently his team had simply painted on top of old paint, with the obvious problems that this would cause.

Ted and his team fitted a new floor. Good communication from the start, with sensible advice. If you want a job done, you ask a busy person, and this firm is rightly busy. And so when it was time to start, all the steps were done smartly. Great attention to detail; floor flush with skirting. Photographs shared throughout.

From my very first contact with Ted on the phone, I was impressed by his friendly and helpful manner. He could so easily have turned down the work. It was not a big job - installing a fire door in a non-load bearing wall - but it was fiddle, requiring several different stages with different workmen plus having to deal with Camden Council and jump through various tedious hoops. Ted project managed the job extremely well and established good relations with everyone he had to deal with. He sent sound workmen and sent Jason, a particularly delightful employee, to see the work through. There was a potentially awkward situation with the Council at the end when they were demanding photographs of the fire door and Ted went out of his way to provide these. With such a pragmatic and professional approach as theirs, it is such a pleasure to recommend this company.

We've used Ted and the team for two different jobs; the first to move an interior wall and lay a new floor, and the second to fit a bathroom. On both occasions, the team did an excellent job and the work was finished to a very high standard, despite both jobs becoming more complicated than anticipated due to rotten floor joists. The team is friendly and knowledgeable and gives good advice where needed, and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again for future jobs.

Ted and his team did a brilliant job taking down a small wall and building wardrobes to our specification. The wardrobes are really well constructed and the finish is to a great standard. Everyone working on the job was polite. punctual, tidy and considerate, with Ted checking in regularly. We're so pleased and will definitely be using ETW again.

We had leaking pipes under our kitchen floor. Ted was able to fix the leaks and the damage done to the floor. We were impressed that he was able to do this without damaging the units which had to be moved to get access to the leak.

ETW Building Services were able to sort out a mess left by a previous contractor. They identified a blockage in the guttering system caused by debris, and realigned the gutters to make them flow properly, I was impressed by the diagnosis of the problem and recommended course of action, which proved correct. The operatives were charming and efficient. The price was competitive. I would strongly recommend ETW.

The job is mostly done to a high quality. Ted himself kept a close eye on his workers and made sure they maintained quality. They were good at communication for the most part too. Cost went over budget, but for reasons that were unavoidable, and this was clearly communicated in advance, so fair enough. Time management was poor. The job took more than a month longer than quoted. As a result there was overlap with other tradesmen, and there was definitely a lack of consideration for this, and also a slightly slapdash snagging process towards the end as a result. I'd recommend this firm if they're the only ones working on the site, and you've no particular hurry.

Ted has sorted out the damp problems in my flat. I live in Australia so have had to rely on him to manage all aspects of the work with only a couple of face to face meetings. He and his team have done a great job and Ted has returned to the flat a number of times to check everything is ok. He has worked totally to budget. I highly recommend him and he is especially good if you need someone reliable and trustworthy to work on a property in your absence.
