Ecotiffin carried out installation of external wall insulation, loft insulation and boarding and roof works for us. Tamara and David managed our project and kept us up to date throughout. Our house is old (built 1890) and has a tendency to reveal previously unknown issues as any building work commences, but any problems that came up were thoroughly discussed and various solutions were offered, costed and agreed as we went along. We felt that we could openly discuss the project as it progressed, and that Tamara, David Perry and the rest of the team were happy to answer our questions, and keen to ensure that we were happy with the final result. Steve has done a fabulous job of the roof and Aaron and Adam a great job of the building work with the rest of the team. They were reliable and professional. We are happy to recommend.

We are delighted with the work completed by Eco-Tiffin. We wanted to upgrade the insulation in our home and to integrate this work with the installation of solar panels. We began the process with a thermal survey and a discussion of the recommendations. The discussions were not hurried or pushy and it took a few months before we agreed the scope of works. We were especially keen to find a company to oversee the integration of the various aspects of the works. Having agreed to go for the 'Tiffin duvet effect', the various teams of carpenter, electrician, plumber, brickies and roofers came and did most of the work from the outside, keeping disruption to a minimum. The teams were smartly dressed, tidy and considerate. We hoped that the house would be warmer this winter. We are delighted to say that the house is draft free, warmer and less humid. The work has all been carried out neatly and to a high standard and it all looks great inside and outside. It actually looks better than we had imagined it would. We are very happy to recommend Eco-Tiffin.

Engaged this company to do a survey with regards to our loft: assess the potential to convert to habitable space and insulate. The surveyor who arrived was under the impression that we were having a damp problem (no, and never even mentioned), so I ended up printing my original email request to ensure that were were on the same page. Survey seemed to go well, but when I received the report a week later I was thoroughly disappointed: apart from a few minor factual errors, the survey report itself consisted of 17 pages, 8 of which comprised the generic boilerplate "Assumptions & Conditions" that were by far the most detailed part of the report; one title page and one Declaration page (that was essentially an invitation to write a blank cheque); 2 other pages; and 6 actual survey pages, at least half of which consisted of photos. The survey text itself was in the style of a mediocre undergraduate thesis with platitudes about damp, climate, and various other things. There were also observations about the potential for development, but very few specifics, no concrete or systematic action plan or similar proposal for next steps. I contacted both the original surveyor and, 5 days later, the company's general contact to give them an opportunity to comment, but have still not heard back from either. Altogether a poor experience and not worth the £300 that was charged for it.

The team from Eco Tiffin carried out insulation work on our house plus other repairs and maintenance work. We are really pleased with the end results. We first contacted Eco Tiffin after enduring many chilly winters in our 1930’s house and finally decided it was time to do something to improve it – but we didn’t really know where to start. We booked an energy assessment survey and Robert went through the results in full detail. He recommended the priorities to fix the main issues. We also needed to deal with some other repairs and after a few more site visits and answering all our many questions we settled on a planned set of works to address the insulation and maintenance issues. The team were great to have around. The works were well-organised and progressed quickly. Aaron and David kept us updated on what they had done and what was happening next. The team kept the site tidy, cleaned up each evening and did their best to minimise the disruption while the work was ongoing. The work completed has been done to a very high standard and there is a huge improvement now in the warmth of our bathrooms and bedrooms following the insulation work. Plus the house looks much better now too. Early indications are showing a reduction in the amount of energy we are using to heat the house. It will be interesting to see the difference over time but we can tell that the house is retaining heat much better now and also we no longer get condensation in the bathroom.

I had a damp problem with my kitchen wall, which affected the back door and made it difficult to open and shut except at the height of summer. I had various people look at it, without getting a solution. Mr Tiffin clearly knew his stuff and to my great relief the problem is now solved. His workmen were very competent, friendly and helpful. Apart from replastering the wall they also planed down the back door and put a flexible draught strip in it. I delayed leaving a review in case the damp problem came back in the winter, but it's still fine, despite the considerable amounts of rain we've had recently. Mr Tiffin is businesslike and competent.

Resolving the endless damp kitchen saga

For many years I have had a problem with damp in the kitchen of my Victorian terraced house. Several builders told me to leave well alone unless I wanted a lot of upheaval, but when I eventually decided to replace the old kitchen the time was right. I asked three specialist damp firms to quote. EcoTiffin was the most professional and authoritative from the start, and more importantly the only one prepared to project-manage the whole job from start to finish, so I didn't have to find individual tradesmen with all the added complications that would entail. They correctly identified the cause of the problem, suggested various ways of improving the ventilation and drainage to avoid future problems and put me in touch with a great kitchen company where I could choose exactly what I wanted at a very reasonable price. Robert and his team were a pleasure to work with -- always at the end of a phone line, efficient, considerate, tidy... all the things you hope for but don't necessarily get. To complicate matters, the March lockdown was announced just one week after the job started, but we kept in touch and, as soon as it was safe to do so, work resumed. I am thrilled with my new kitchen and am confident that I am now well and truly damp-proofed.

We engaged Tiffin to renovate our living room after the ceiling partially collapsed. This involved the unenvitable task of ripping down the old lathe and plaster ceiling and replacing it. We also had the windows replaced and bay wall partially rebuilt. This was a more complex job than it sounds as the property is quite old. Tiffin handled all the aspects of the job really well, keeping us informed and sourcing high quality materials. They did a good job of organising all the various trades to do their parts in an efficient manner. We recommend them.

We engaged Tiffin group to complete an internal insulation project for us, along with a collection of other smaller property maintenance jobs. The “Tiffin difference” was immediately noticeable from the polite and courteous approach adopted by all members from the team. For us, that mattered a lot. We a young baby and the team were unfailingly mindful of that throughout the project which lasted several weeks. The work was carried out to a high standard. As with all major projects we did draw up a snagging list but all items were addressed to our satisfaction. What was most pleasing was that we paid the price we had been quoted. There was no “Gotcha” pricing at the end despite a couple of modifications to the original RFQ we provided. If I had any criticism to offer it would be that some things took longer to sort than we had expected but, on the list of criticisms to be levelled at a construction firm, this is one thing that I found was manageable given all the other positives. We were left with a strong sense that Robert and the team were professional and reliable in their approach. We wil be using Tiffin Group for our next project.

The first time I used Robert Tiffin was by email for advice about the condition of a garden wall. He responded with a request for pictures from which he went on to produce a clear, helpful response suggesting the wall was sound and any work needed would be cosmetic. He made no charge for this advice. Based on this experience, I asked him to carry out repair work to the walls, roof and chimney of our property. After inspection, he advised me that the roof and chimney were sound and that pointing would resolve the problems, saving me considerable unnecessary costs. I was delighted to discover he was absolutely right in his diagnosis. On the third occasion, my daughter required a survey of mould on the interior walls of her home. Again, Robert Tiffin carried out a thorough inspection and prepared a comprehensive report. Robert Tiffin is helpful and professional. His advice is sound and he will save you money where he can. Not surprisingly, the people he employs are also hard working and professional. Schedules are maintained and when work is completed everywhere is left clean and tidy. I have no hesitation in recommending them.

I have known Robert Tiffin for 40 years or so and his company has done a lot of work for me during that time. In 1984 I bought a semi-derelict listed house in Rickmansworth. It needed a complete refurbishment including a large outbreak of dry-rot and various damp and woodworm problems. Tiffins carried out all the specialist work (I did a lot of the standard stuff myself due to limited funds) and this work was carried out well and there has been no recurring problems. It is a very old building and quite delicate and so there have been other problems over the years (particularly with damp issues) and Tiffins has also remedied all these very well. In 2013 Tiffins demolished the garage and built a new, bigger building that complied with Listed issues, Conservation area and so on. The work was high quality. I also own a building in Holland Park and recently there was a very bad outbreak of dry rot. The building is approx 100 years old and the rot was quite bad covering the whole of the front wall. The ground floor is a commercial office with approx 16 people working in it. They had to be happy and I didn't want them to move out while the work was carried out. Tiffins developed a plan that involved a false (external) wall across and inside the front wall which allowed the tenant to carry on working while the work was carried out. After some issues with scheduling the work at short notice the repairs were carried out very well and my tenants didn't complain! Roberts advice on how to present the problem to my insurance company also resulted in a successful insurance claim. Robert and Tiffins people are very good a identifying the problems with buildings (often the problem with this kind of work is working out what the real problem is in the first place) and I have never known him to get it wrong. Having moved into a 1940's north facing bungalow a few years back, the front bedrooms located over a cellar were incredibly cold and heating bills high. Previous builders had not improved the situation, so having seen an ad in a local publication in the summer, I finally got around to contacting Robert in December 16. I wish I had done it sooner. His advice was sound and sensible and the price fair. The work carried out in Feb 17. The team he used to re-insulate the awkward shaped loft, introduce proper ventilation at eaves and roof ridge, as well as the team he used to insulate the cellar with sprayed foam, were professional, hardworking and the tidiest I have come across! Robert arranged everything and kept me in the loop throughout. Since the work was completed there has definitely been a marked improvement in temperature. I have no hesitation in recommending EcoTiffin and will definitely use them for any future building project.

I first came across Tiffin's after I had written to about 2 or 3 dozen firms to tender for a building project for my small restaurant. As soon as I looked at their reply I thought to myself "They won't get it, they've put 1695 instead of 1965" I was wrong in so many ways... Tiffin's were successful in winning that contract. Part of the reason for our decision was the courtesy, co-operation, flexibility, cleanliness and tidiness of Tiffin's staff: this meant we could continue serving our customers whilst the building work was progressing But Tiffin's really outstanding qualities did not surface until the project started going wrong. As so often happens with building works to period properties, a problem was uncovered after the work had started. In our case, a severe structural fault was uncovered that required immediate attention Tiffin's did not make a drama out of a crisis. First, they took quick, calm, expert action to make everything safe. Then, with their professionalism and centuries of experience, they had their own indemnity and were able to help us present evidence in such a specialised way that it was easy to receive full funding from our own insurers. The project was therefore completed on time and within the original budget What was even more important for us was the fact that we did not suffer any loss of sales or damage to our reputation: despite the major unplanned structural works, we could continue serving our customers throughout the project
