My name is David English I have over 20 years experience in this industry. I'm a very hard working trustworthy person and I would treat your property with the same respect that I would my own home.
Most of my work comes from word of mouth and I think that says a lot.
The main services that I provide are the installation of TV aerials and satellite dishes for Freeview and satellite TV (Sky and Freesat)
Before I worked in this industry I worked in the building trade, during this time I picked up a Lot of tips from the trade. This has helped me in many aspects of the services that I offer. Including the demand for people wanting their flat screen TVs hung on the wall, Cables discreetly hidden in the walls and cables put under the floorboards and so on.
Some of the other services that I offer include installing telephone, CAT5 , CAT6 data points.
Installing all your media and data cables during the first fix of your refurbishment then doing the final fix and a signal test at the end of the refurbishment.

My TV was showing pixelated channels and weak signals. David checked the TV aerial and cables, diagnosed and explained weaknesses, provided me with choices at each stage, and then carried out the work very neatly without causing any damage to the roof. The work involved removing all old redundant TV aerial equipment and cabling, installing a new system, plus adding new external splitters. The bill included a five-year warranty. Overall, David was pleasant, good at communication and prompt.

I contacted David as i needed a new roof aerial and additional socket in bedroom. Spoke to David via telephone and text to make the necessary arrangements for the following week. He was easy to deal with and there was no hard sell. Arrived as arranged, and carried out the work as agreed. He also removed an old satellite dish for me at no extra charge. David did the work really well and explained why i was having issues with the aerial. We heartily recommend David and will tell family and friends about him if they need work done. We asked to move satellite and phone cables away from our windows, as they were due to be replaced. He was excellent all round, both with contact, replying to questions, but most importantly turning up as arranged. We even got a courtesy email to remind us of the appointment, an eta, and he arrived early. He replaced old cables, checking with us to ensure we were happy with the new location too. Other installers had left long lengths of cable and David tidied everything up, leaving the whole area inside the house looking so much better than it had been. He checked everything was working before leaving. A good experience all around.

Needed removal of a TV aerial which fell following high winds. Also wanted to get removal and cleanup of other items left in a poor condition by a previous contractor. David responded to my initial enquiry within the hour, and was available to do the work the same day. Our satellite dish needed a new part installed together with a new quad cable to the television and set-top box. Having had David English before, I asked him to do this work. He came at the agreed time, tested our TV and aerial signal thoroughly and gave me the choice of refurbing the aerial or replacing it with a new one. I went for the latter option. He installed and tested the new aerial and cables and removed the debris - all in about an hour and a half. He was very helpful and polite, coping magnificently with a difficult neighbour. David created an alcove in an internal wall and attached a 32in tv to an extending swivel bracket so that the tv can be pulled out and viewed from any angle. He communicated with us clearly regarding his availability, made recommendations on the most appropriate tv and once the job was underway got on with it with minimal fuss and mess. When he realised he could achieve a smarter finish to the alcove even though it would take more effort on his part, David went the extra mile and we are thrilled with the result. He arranged to bring the necessary cable and equipment to upgrade the existing system. He provided an estimate of the cost via email and we agreed to proceed. Mr English arranged the date for upgrading the system and arrived promptly, worked efficiently, explained exactly what he was doing as the work progressed. We found Mr English focused, helpful--especially as we are not up-to-date about the current WIFI and telephone technology. He told us to get back to him with any queries or problems. So far, so good! Not only he had the face mask on even before he left his van, took his shoes off as soon as he entered the flat and always managed to keep the safety distance, but he completed the job in no time, leaving everything tidy, he showed me what the problem was, waited for me to check all was working and charged me the minimum he previously quoted, including a part he supplied himself. I live in a block of flats and was having problems with poor reception on my TV. I have no idea about the set up of the tv aerial system in my block. I kept losing the satellite signal because the dish had been fixed into the wall pointing rather than the brick and it had worked loose. I contacted David and he came within a couple of days. He was pleasant and got on with the job quickly, finishing in half an hour or so. He removed the dish and then made stronger fixings in the brick work. He had a special machine for checking the strength of the signal. He also filled in the pointing which the old fixing had broken and fixed the neighbour's cabling back onto the wall - without being asked to do this. I was very satisfied with the job. It was reassuring to know that he is a specialist in this work. He's not cheap but he does a good job and he also has an assitant with him to hold the ladder etc.

I was hugely impressed with David from start to finish. When I called him via Checkatrade, he was really helpful on the phone. As I described the job to him, he asked great questions and offered to look up my property on Google Earth to see if what we were talking about was likely to work with the outside of the house (it involved running cabling outside). I was quite uncertain about the best way to proceed, but he gave great advice, all of it obviously focused on the best result for me rather than any consideration of more work for him. When he came and did the job, he was quick, professional and worked with a minimum of fuss. He installed two new ethernet points with relevant cabling and they work perfectly. I was very pleased with the price. I would definitely use David again.

I asked David to check my decades-old aerial and replace it with a new one. He responded quickly with a quotation, arrived on time on the agreed day and was very considerate of my house, removing shoes, using dustsheets and moving any furniture that might have been caught by ladders being carried in and out. David did a brilliant job: he took down the wonky old aerial attached to the front of the house and neatly removed its unsightly cable threaded under the window sill, replacing it with a modern aerial attached to the chimney and running its cable discreetly behind our drainpipe and into the sitting room out of sight. He re-tuned the TV and PVR, made sure the Fire stick was working, and even tidied up the mess of cabling at the back of all the equipment. I originally contacted David to run Cat5e cabling externally for some PoE IP cameras. The work was carried out to a very high standard, with the external cabling run discreetly as possible and the patch panels inside the premises fitted cleanly to our office wall. Since that first job, I have commissioned David two more times: He replaced a dangerously fitted satellite dish installation, combining both the dish and standard UHF aerial onto a single, robust fixture. Finally, I had David move/re-run some internal cat6 data points in our home prior to some restructuring. During each job, David and his assistant were courteous, friendly and professional. He made sure I was completely happy with the work before packing up, allowing me to set up and test my cameras and perform iperf testing of the cat6 cable runs. If I ever need any more work done on my home home network, or for AV equipment, I'll definitely be giving David a call again.

I accessed David through Which? Local and can confirm all the 5star reviews listed. We wanted a new TV and DVD supplied and installed .We had contacted John Lewis but they hedged everything with qualifications : we take away the old TV but not the stand. can only mount on this wall not that with this bracket not the one we wanted. Not sure about timing . Everything was about their needs, not ours. I called David English as I was having problems with reception on my TV and the DVD recorder was not recording properly. He did a thorough investigation and found problems on my flat roof with the existing old aerial and cabling. He and his assistant replaced the aerial, renewed old cables and got everything working beautifully. As I couldn't see what was happening on the roof he took before and after photos with his phone to show me which I really appreciated. The charge was extremely reasonable, and he completed all the work in very good time and left everything very tidy. I was delighted.

Having had David English do a superb job a while ago on re-positioning my satellite dish on a tall roof, I was glad he was available to replace my old Technomate receiver box. He installed a new version perfectly. At the same time, I asked him to rationalise the wiring and connections of other set-top boxes (cable media, dvd player etc) added and linked to the same TV. Following sudden problems arising with my freeview and direct aerial tv services I called in David English. Our aerial set up is somewhat complicated in that we have a large tv aerial and satellite dish distribution box which serves my flat and two others above me in the same building. It formerly served more flats but following ownership changes it was reduced to just the three flats. As I have responsibility for the service to all the flats it was essential to get a good repair for everybody. David arrived on the specified time, identified the problem ( a failed amplifier ), offered a cheap solution of opting out of the satellite part of the set up as no one used it but as we wished to future proof in case anyone eventually chooses satellite services he did a temporary work around giving everyone good aerial service and returned later to fit a new amp having given advance clear estimate of cost. David is very polite and professional and him and his assistant were always removing shoes when entering the interior of the house. I would emphatically recommend the services of David's company to anyone needing tv aerial works of any kind.

We had a steadily deteriorating signal and loss of picture, David was recommended to us and quickly arranged a new installation which provided a big improvement in reception. He was able to resite the aerial to a better position on the roof and kindly helped with moving the old aerial and scaffold pole it was supported on, out of the way. I cannot recommend David English too highly. He is a real star – a superb engineer and incredibly skilled. My house had extremely confusing aerial wiring (three different sets in all) but no signal. He worked with immense patience, trying various things, to untangle the confusion. He then set about restoring a signal and saved me the considerable expense of roofers and a dish by establishing that a good aerial in the loft would work, as it did. I now have a signal. What a treasure! I found David English based on the reviews on here after I lost all tv reception. David had had a cancellation that morning and so called round straightaway. He diagnosed the problem quickly and, when he was not able to fix it straightaway (as it involved going on the roof and the slates were slippery that day as it was raining), he called round later that day to fix a temporary aerial in place. Now the problem is all sorted - David checked it was all working as it should (and I now have better reception than before). It is a very neat job and a good price. David always turned up promptly, was easy to communicate with and was a pleasure to deal with - as one of the other reviewers here says, honest and professional. I would have no hesitation in recommending his service to others.

I was amazed with the professionalism of this gentleman, he explained everything that needed doing and why. Had David in today to replace my old aerial, which had just about given up. Before installing the new one, he thoroughly tested the old one to see if it could be repaired - I don't think many other installers would have done that! I'd just moved into a new home and the whole place was running with various different cables from Sky, Virgin and Freesat. All I wanted to be able to do was use my Freeview box, but there was no aerial on the roof. I contacted David and he was able to pop round the day after I moved in. I contacted David to install my TV on the wall, move all cables to the opposite side of the room, install a new directional amplifier and repair a damaged aerial cable outside. He came to assess the work and promptly provided a very reasonable estimate. He and his assistant/nephew Alfie were on time the day we arranged. They both were very polite, knowledgeable and professional throughout. David also gave some very good advice about TV settings and which cables to use. David and Alfie used trunking to hide all cables and now everything around the TV set looks neat and tidy. They also repaired an aerial cable outside that was no longer working. David English did a superb job of fixing my European satellite problem after it stopped functioning because of the recent big storm. I use a satellite dish directed at the Hotbird satellite to pick up Italian and other European TV stations. It is in an unusual position --on top of a back dormer window on the third floor of a Georgian house-- because we rightly have to meet Listed Building and Conservation Area requirements. I found Mr English on Which Local, discussed the problem over the phone, and he came round later the same day. He quickly and safely erected ladders to reach the dish, which he found had been moved by the very strong winds and also needed a new LNBF (feed horn/down converter). He realigned and firmly secured the dish after fixing the new part. The European TV reception, which had previously been good, is now better than ever! Mr English is a real expert. And he charged a very reasonable price for the job.

I have had David English in today, who I got from Which? Local to install an aerial for Freeview and combine this with Sky in all my rooms. He returned my call quickly and came on time to assess what needed to be done and gave me a quote the same evening. He was on time the day we had arranged. He is very knowledgeable, efficient and such a friendly man, a pleasure to have in the house. He explained as he went along what he was doing and how to get Sky and Freeview by the remote on each set. He also took away some wiring which wasn't in use anymore, as it looked like spaghetti junction at the back of the set, tidied up and made secure the wiring outside from the Sky dish into the house which had a tendency to flap about in the wind, both without charge. I would highly recommend him to anyone who might be thinking of having this type of work done, also the price is good too.

He diagnosed the problem, explained the different possible solutions (and costs), installed a new aerial and added TV points and connections upstairs. Everything worked perfectly. He quickly checked all my equipment (DVD recorder and hard drive recorder as well as the televisions and all the cables) and told me everything inside my flat was fine. Then he started tracking the wires from the building aerial to my flat and found a junction box outside of the window where the TV aerial enters the flat that was faulty. He was able to bypass this junction box and installed a new one, solving all the problems. His charge was more than reasonable and he was very pleasant to have around. I will definitely recommend him to my friends. Now I hope to recover the cost from the managing agent of my building since the fault wasn't inside my flat and David said he would be happy to speak to the agent and explain the problem and his solution.

I am so happy to have found David. He is first class and really knows his stuff. We have RF distribution from garage to every room and he installed 2 sky boxes, hdmi over RF, access to both boxes in different rooms, magic eyes, sorted our tel. line problems, made sure we could access our cctv system on tv's and hung up and connected a new TV. He made quite complex issues look easy and would recommend him to anyone.

Having found David English through this site and having used his services, I can see why he constantly gets recommendations. David responded promptly to my request, kept me informed of the time when he would come, was professional, knowledgable, extremly helpful and friendly. I had lost my aerial signal which he restored. When I told him I was not sure if my TV,video, dvd player and set top box were wired correctly, he very helpfully, and without charging for this, checked the wiring and very helpfully and patiently explained how to access the various devices. Thanks to his explanation I can now record on my dvd player - I had not done this for a couple of years as I could not get it to work following rewiring some components. All is all, David is a rare person and with his very pleasant personality was a delight to have around the house.

I recently moved into a new flat and had no aerial signal. David was able to come round the very next day to quote for the job, and booked in to do the job two days later. He was extremely knowledgeable and really helpful, not just installing a new aerial but drawing my attention to the fact that there was an old aerial on the flat next door which could have damaged my flat if not secured. I contacted David as my old aerial was falling off, risking to injure passers by and to damage the cars underneath. He managed to squeeze an appointment in spite of his busy schedule. In spite of the rain he did everything he had to do and most importantly he fixed all the problems. He was punctual, professional, pleasantly friendly, answered all the silly questions I asked him and gave me good advice and re-tuned my video (he also installed a cable to improve the quality of the pictures, at no extra charge). As it was raining he even took his shoes off every time he had to come inside.

I was experiencing very bad pixilation on freeview channels and BT Vision. I thought it was a problem with the aerial. David English quickly established that the signal from the aerial was good, and that the problem was with the BT Vision box. He also showed me a way to get round the problem until BT supplied a replacement box. He is very experienced and also gave me advice on my new smart TV. I would thoroughly recommend him.

I called in English Installations for a quote on running an additioanl cable from my satellite dish to a new digital TV recorder to benefit from its extra features. When Mr English looked at my installation he found that I had all the necessary cabling already installed and it was just a question of setting it up correctly, which he did in 5 minutes. His fee? zilch! Not a bean, not a penny. A true gentleman. Needless to say he comes highly recommended!

Whenever it rained etc our freeview would pixelate or disappear entirely. I was sure that it was because the cable from our aerial was not great. I also wanted to get another TV aerial socket installed in our front room because we currently run wires from our one internal socket around the house. We got one estimate from another trader who quoted for going up to the aerial to check/replace and run a new cable from the aerial to the front room. Their quote was very expensive. I asked David to come over and he was very responsive and came over quickly. He took a completely different approach and measured the signal at various places. He confirmed that it was the cable and that he could fix it without going up to the roof. He also confirmed that we didn't actually need another internal socket (unless we really wanted one). He fixed it there and then and did it while my boys were running amok. David is honest, good value and a nice guy.

David installed a new aerial socket on the other side of the room to my existing aerial point, which involved identifying the correct cable coming off the roof aerial, splitting the cable and drilling through the outside wall. Everything was done with minimal disturbance, expert knowledge and a high standard of care all round. Would recommend.
