Faced with a big house move from a large house that we'd lived in for 12 years, F Smith & Son were simply amazing. The whole process was smooth as anything - from the packing days before the move, the move day itself (where they had to patiently wait for completion!) and then the follow up with final items the day after. All of the team that turned up were polite, professional and most importantly (since it helped us), they were calm and cool with the amount of work that needed to be done! If you need a company who will genuinely take care of you and your belongings through one of the most stressful experiences you'll deal with, then I highly recommend this company!

I always suspected my choice of removal company would make or break the experience of moving house for the first time in 23 years ................... thankfully my choice definitely made it. What a professional and helpful team, led by Ryan. The communication between the team members was quiet, efficient and effective, even when faced with pieces of furniture which were reluctant to leave the property due to their size! They listened to my various requests, remembered and actioned them without any further prompting. There were no dramas and every little problem was addressed by confident leadership and seemless teamwork. The back office team were also very efficient and responsive, which always gave me confidence that I had made the right choice ............. and I certainly did! From the first time I spoke to F Smith & Son, I got a positive impression. I had a video consultation with John, who was very knowledgeable and friendly. I generally just got a good vibe from the company, so I decided to go with their service rather than the others I'd received quotes from. I'm so glad I did! They were fantastic. Jordan was our main point of contact for the move and he was brilliant. He really made everything run so smoothly and he was also a lovely person. On the day, the guys were great and nothing was too much trouble. All our stuff was taken such good care of. Moving is stressful but F Smith & Son made it seamless for us. We were really pleased to be moved by three great guys last week. This could have been quite traumatic as we are both in our 70's. Your team were so patient and kind, quickly learned our names and made us very comfortable with the whole process. We felt shocked at how much stuff we had, and they joked along the whole time, putting our things exactly where we asked. They were so professional at taking our bed apart, wrapping our mattress and putting it back together so we would have a good night's sleep. At the new place they even put protection up the doorframe and down on the carpets. Thank you

They managed my move from the South East to Scotland. They were the first removal team to follow up on a request for a quote, and they offered either an in-person or virtual survey of the property to gauge the items to move. They were flexible in meeting my tight move window. Their optional insurance quote was the cheapest of the companies I approached; the actual moving quote was the second cheapest but I still wanted to go ahead. They turned up uniformed and with a branded van, the crew were really friendly and accommodating (I was still sealing up the last few boxes when they arrived). What stood out is that I just ran out of tape at the end, and they had a couple of old rolls left over. They laid rugs to protect the floor during the move, and they were clear in agreeing logistics for their arrival times and how I'd receive updates as I was travelling separately. We did split the collection window over two days, which I didn't plan to initially, but it was only with my agreement and they were flexible about how it was done. It actually turned out for the best as it meant the items were delivered earlier on the day of my move rather than late at night. Finally, everything turned up perfectly fine. I was moving some sensitive electronics and was very nervous, but I pointed out the fragile items and they took very good care of them. I've tested all my goods and they're sound.

As a longstanding WHICH? member I thought we had selected the best. Pay well get well. How wrong we were. The initial estimator seemed knowledgeable gave us quotes and options. We accepted the quote, and agreed a move date. Packers arrived on time, one employed by Smith's and other by another company. When they turned up, they knew in advance they would have to disable our furniture but they turned up with no tools. We gave clear instructions and let them pack. This was a mistake. Little did we know they consolidated our belongings into various different boxes, and didn't even even use the preprinted location/identification labels on the boxes. We also noted all staff except foremen where from other companies...... Arrived at our new home (a spotless new build) where they unloaded the boxes and our belongings. During this time they damaged the property walls, dropped the top of our lovely wooden dining room on the drive, and we later found several of our belongings were damaged by the packers. Four weeks later we were still unable to find some of stuff belongings. Advised the company who sent an insurance claim form, which says £50 excess per claim and 30 day max claim period after job. Please do not use this company, either we were incredibly unlucky or ............ If you do use them insist as a condition of the contract they only use their own staff if you value your belongings.

We booked packing and removal service from a 3 bedroom split level flat to a 5 bedroom house. Lee, John and Charlie were brilliant on the moving day, and made our day stress free. They showed up on time and early, dissemble the furnitures and loaded to the truck before midday. Everything were packed safely and no damage at all. We can’t thank them enough for their hard work on quite a hot day! Highly recommended and will definitely use F Smith & son again.

They took care of everything, easing our worries about our move. We had to use their storage facilities for 6 weeks, and the delivery of everything onto our new home was just as good. I experienced great service from start to finish. My circumstances were tricky as I exchanged and completed on the same day so I could only confirm and finalise my booking the night before moving! I had a complex move having to pick up items from another removalist, with whom I had had an altercation, and deliver to my residence. The items in question were to be hoisted three floors down to the lowest floor. It took a while to agree a date because I had to resolve insurance issues with the previous removalist. F. Smith and Son was a pleasure to deal with right from the start to the end of the move. Their admin team (Lorraine) was incredibly professional. The quote was thorough and they took their time to understand the terrain. Mr Smith's communication was professional and timely and consistent as we were delayed in confirming a date. The moving crew on the day were skilled, professional and polite. They knew exactly what they were doing and got on with it with absolutely no drama. I would have no hesitation in recommending them and using them again myself.

We had an excellent service from F Smith & Son, comprising removals from house into storage, storage, and removals from storage into new house. The pre-move assessment and discussions were very friendly and professional, and very understanding of late changes and options. We were very impressed with the estimator. Compared to the other companies we approached, we felt that we were treated as individuals. We were not some part of a process that required us to sign endless disclaimers. The office staff were also friendly and efficient The removal men themselves were also excellent - nothing was too much trouble. I would happily recommend F S Smith if you have a house removal to undertake (we went for the full packing service and have no regrets - it was the right decision for us).
