From the 1st point of contact with Emma to the work being done it was a great customer service experience. A professional company that replaced a front door handle plus gate lock for me. The products used were excellent and Matt even aligned my gate bolt and lever so the gate was totally secure for me. This was above and beyond what was contracted. Highly recommend and will not hesitate to use again if needed.

I called Matt early on a Friday morning to ask for assistance with a jammed locked door. Not only was he extremely polite and helpful, he was available to support with my situation by Friday afternoon. He kept me updated for when exactly he would be coming which was appreciated. Matt was professional and courteous when he arrived and was excellent in fixing the door. Even though the job was a bit more complicated than initially expected, Matt did a fantastic job in ensuring that the jam was resolved and the door was sufficiently fixed. Our six-year-old house was fitted with a premium lock (Ultion) which had caused problems in most of our neighbours' houses, so we asked Matt to fit a replacement as a precaution against possible future failure. Replacement locks from the same manufacturer also appeared to have problems and Matt visited three times in all to make sure a lock was fitted in which he had confidence. Matt's service is prompt, reliable, and inspired confidence, while his costs seemed very reasonable. Unconditionally recommended.

Matt came to fix a door lock where the key wouldn’t turn. Unfortunately this wasn’t straightforward as the system was very old. It couldn’t be replaced but he worked out a solution where the door could be locked thus securing our property. Nice friendly guy, who I would recommend.

My call on a Saturday morning was answered promptly and an appointment made for the following Monday. The problem was a UPVC door with multi-point locking that suddenly would not engage properly and could not be locked. Matt's professional approach meant he could make the right adjustments to allow the locking mechanism to engage and lock. Excellent service from Emma in the office and Matt who replaced my broken front door lock. No call-out fee, I was told the likely cost up front, based on my description of the problem. Problem was diagnosed and the lock replaced very quickly.

Once again, Matt came to our rescue almost immediately following a problem locking our door, which I made worse by fiddling with it onr afternoon. He came promptly the next morning, identified the problem amd replaced the faulty/broken handles. He checked the multipoint locking mechanism, and it was ok, so all we had to pay for was the handle set. It was a good job, done quickly, and for a fair price. My front door mortise deadlock had been awkward to unlock for some time and, when one of the keys broke leaving us with just one working key, I knew it was time to finally sort it out. Matt responded very quickly to my initial email and, after I’d sent some photos of the lock, he knew exactly what was required and quickly followed it up with a very reasonable quote. After I’d agreed the work, Emma was helpful in fixing a time for the work to be carried out and Matt came out the next working day. He completed what was an unexpectedly awkward job extremely professionally and with the minimum of fuss. Highly recommended.

Have been having problems our back door not latching, but this morning it wouldn't lock at all. I called Matt at 9.30, and he was here by 11.30. Turns out it was a very simple fix that took him a couple of minutes, and he didn't charge - not even fuel! It's not the first time he's helped us out, but I wouldn't bother with anybody else now. Since I have come to know, like and trust them over the years via BNI, I have no doubt whatsoever that they were correcting the problem in the most appropriate manner, and for a fair price. They had to venture out to the van on multiple occasions but each time they came back in they removed their footwear, keeping my carpets clean. We recently had cause to have two extra keys cut for our newly installed front door. I duly contacted local locksmiths who informed me the cost of £35 for each key (Ultion keys are apparently quite specialist as a code is needed in order to cut replicas). Shocked at the price, I contacted Matt at Gearing Locksmiths. Within a day the two keys were ready to collect and at a massively reduced price to. the original quote. We have used Gearings on several occasions now and have always been impressed by their work and the fact that they always return a call and arrive when they say they will. We have had damaged double glazing units replaced, a stuck window unjammed, a UPVC front door- hanging off its hinges- got a new lease of life and now works like new. We asked for a quote on a recent piece of work, which they did but they also advised that it would be better to replace rather than repair. Gearings couldn’t do the replacement work but suggested several firms that could. In the current world where it’s difficult to find a reliable tradesperson who will turn up, Gearings are a refreshing change and so are very highly recommended.

Matt attended in order to replace a broken double glazed unit. The work was completed on a date agreed to a high standard. I would highly recommend using him in future.

Matt was able to come out on short notice to change the lock on our back door. The mechanism had shattered and we were unable to turn the key! He was very upfront about the problem and gave us a few options for solutions along with very clear facts and transparent pricing. I had a seized up front door lock which Matt was able to open very quickly, and get the lock working much more smoothly than it had before in a relatively short time, without having to replace any parts. He arrived within 30 minutes of my first phone call, and was leaving having resolved the issue within 30 minutes of turning up. Very happy with the service overall, would highly recommend.

Having not used the Which trusted trader to find a locksmith the day before, when I had a terrible experience with a locksmith found via a general web site search, I used Which and found Gearing Locksmiths. Matt Gearing could not have been more helpful, agreeing to come out the following morning to repair the lock which had been damaged during the previous days visit. He arrived on time and was totally professional. Took the lock apart and repaired the damage. I had a patio door which was impossible to open (for me) from either inside or out. Initial communication by email was both prompt and clear. Matty arrived at the agreed time, was friendly and inspired confidence. Within a very few seconds, the door was open and the problem diagnosed, explained, and the cost (which seemed reasonable) immediately provided. The necessary mechanism was collected and installed within the hour. The guarantee was clearly explained and I have no doubt that it would be honoured in the unlikely event of any problems. I had a problem with a broken Upvc window locking mechanism that was no longer available. Having tried numerous other companies I was recommended Matt and I’m glad I was. My initial contact was with Emma who helped me every step of the way in sourcing a replacement and making an appointment for Matt to fit it. I called after our patio door lock stopped working. It was late on a Tuesday night but Matt got to us very quickly and fixed the issue straight away. Great service, great value, very professional and would recommend 100%.

Booked an appointment to change the locks on our new house. Arrived promptly and despite a large amount of work needed (eight locks) was able to complete the entire job on the spot. Provided sensible advice on the best locks to use and gave discounts given the amount of work. Installed two higher-spec locks because the cheaper options weren’t in the van. Cut additional keys on site. All-round excellent service and friendly too. Will use them again without thinking and would highly recommend them to anyone. Easily understandable why only 5* reviews!

Used Matt last year to solve a seized front door lock which he did very promptly during early lockdown. I promised him I would call him back to upgrade my other external locks which are all over 30 years old. He visited this morning, checked and oiled all locks and advised although they are old they are all still in perfect working and he felt it wasn't necessary to upgrade as they are as secure as current locks. He made a small charge for the oil. What a delight to find such an honest trader who didn't see an opportunity to make money from me. Apart from anything else he is a very friendly and amiable person to have in the house.

I couldn't lock my UVPC front door from either the inside or the outside. The key would insert and turn but not be able to fully lock the door. Having used them in the past and finding them very professional I phoned Gearing Locksmiths and spoke to Emma. After explaining the problem Emma diagnosed a blown barrel, gave me a price and said that Matt would be round later on that afternoon. Matt turned up after about an hour, much earlier than expected. On inspection Matt confirmed that the barrel had blown and proceded to change the barrel. Matt supplied us with new keys. I was very relieved that the problem had been resolved both quickly and efficiently. Thank you Matt and Emma. I will certainly use them again in the future - Gearing Locksmiths will be my first port of call.

Quick call and I was booked in the next day. Recently moved in, door didn’t lock properly. Door is old and will be replaced in future, but needed a repair to make secure until such times as it is replaced. Job was completed in good time, it was a little difficult due to door design, was given appropriate options for repair, and very satisfied with work carried out.

I had a key stuck with a door open and the lock out - completely jammed and I couldn't close the door. Came out the morning I called and repaired a very old lock on an outside store door which had been tampered with. Took it off the door and mended it in his van, hammering bent brass parts back into shape. Lock cleaned and refitted back onto the door. Working really well. Inexpensive job, pleasant and courteous person.

Mat saved me and my caravan Phyllis! I accidentally locked the caravan keys in the caravan and couldn't find the spare key. Mat was here within minutes. He was so friendly and so so good and very reasonably priced. I honestly can't recommend him enough. I will most definitely call him again if I need to.
