I used GWS to do a completely new roof on my house in the summer of 2024. They were extremely professional throughout the process, from the initial estimate (unlike other estimates I got, they actually measured the roof dimensions) through to the scaffolding, build and completion. When a couple of unexpected minor issues appeared with the roof when the tiles came off, each additional piece of work e.g. fixing a dodgy coping stone, were photographed, documented and estimated for client approval. At the end of the project, there was a quality assurance walkthrough and there were no surprises on the invoice. I would use GWS again in a heartbeat.

GWS recently completed a significant repair/replacement of our roof. They were brilliant from start to finish. Unlike many other companies, they came on time to quote and promptly provided an estimate; they took the time to explain any uncertainties, and provided indicative sums where required to cover potential risks. All questions, no matter how trivial, were answered promptly. Once budget and schedule were agreed they showed up every day on time. The crew was always polite, cheerful and respectful. Again, they always took the time to explain progress and next steps. They worked hard to find solutions to difficult areas and where honest when work was not required, thereby saving us money. There weren't any major issues but all small ones were always resolved quickly. They do not walk away from the job until you are satisfied. A huge thank you to GWS for making a very stressful period just that much easier.

Finding competent and trusted roofing companies can be daunting. I engaged the NFRC member GWS Roofing to rectify a small internal leak arising from a soil pipe through our roof. From start to finish the service provided was excellent; all communications, whether verbal or by email, were promptly answered and the professionalism and courtesy of all GWS staff stood out. The required work plan was agreed and I was impressed that when GWS sent their quote it included proof of all the required insurances that a property owner should insist upon seeing when engaging a company to conduct work at height. Also, the contract was clear and uncomplicated. The timeline for the repair was given and was met; the repair was carried out to a high standard and the leak has been fixed. GWS also had no problem in letting us keep the scaffolding erected until such time as we were happy that it had rained heavily enough to ensure the leak was repaired. I really cannot recommend this firm too highly; they are a class act and I would have no hesitation in engaging them again.

After a very bad experience previously with another contractor, Joe and his whole team were professional from the outset. The initial inspection and quote were discussed in detail with any areas of uncertainty clarified and capped. When the work got underway any uncovered issues were openly discussed, solution focused and fairly priced. Thoroughly recommended.

We used GWS to replace our front pitched roof and flashing. The quality of the work was good (the new roof looks great) and Gary was responsive to any questions/issues we had. Based on other quotes we obtained the price was also competitive. The work did take a a week or so longer than anticipated due to other jobs they had on - but in the event that didn't cause us any issues.

The job description was to recover a flat roof to specifications and to replace a rainwater pipe which required access to a neighbouring property and the use of scaffolding. We were happy with the way the work was completed and the ongoing communication with the team at GWS. There were problems to overcome such as the access to the neighbouring property needing good communication with the owners who lived away from the area. The Covid-19 crisis also caused a few problems, such as the supply of certain materials, but this resulted in limited delay and perfectly acceptable under the circumstances. Easy contact with the office management providing good lines of communication. Good attention to detail and work came within budget - a very satisfactory contract completed.

This was the first time I have used GWS Roofing after they were recommended to me. From initial quotation through to the finished job I have absolute praise for them. They were prompt, courteous and tidy, keeping me informed of their progress throughout the job. All the debris was collected and removed from my house and the work completed to the high standard I was expecting. I have no hesitation in recommending their quality workmanship.

I instructed GWS to quote for re-tiling and re-insulating the back pitch of the roof, including a dormer window, requiring some pitched roof, flat roof and lead cheek work. The estimator who came to inspect the roof to provide the quote showed patience and understanding in answering the many questions I had. The quote was presented in a clear and itemised manner and the company's insurance policy was attached. Whilst the initial quote presented was higher than others, GWS were willing to discuss it and I believe the price we finally agreed to reflected a fair price for the roof-work required. GWS' numerous industry accreditation gave me comfort that the company was reputable and would provide a good level of service. The on-site workers were prompt in starting the working day, professional, respectful and courteous throughout. Whilst the roof-work took a little longer than anticipated, it was thorough and of good quality. They ensured the skylight was clear of dirt and dust regularly and, upon completion, they left the roof and property in a clean state. I would recommend GWS for anyone wanting to instruct a reputable roofing company for good quality roof-work and I would certainly instruct GWS again in future. A few weeks after the roof job was completed the newly installed gutter began leaking. GWS sent a team round within a week of notice and repaired the leak. I was pleased with how professional and prompt they were in addressing the minor fault.

I have no hesitation in recommending GWS and the Sparrowhawk family as a very professional and pleasant firm to deal with. They carried out two separate pieces of work for me during the Covid-19 lock-down. The first to complete work to rectify lead work on the parapet wall beside my loft extension, which had already started before lock-down in March. The second - once lock-down restrictions had been eased - to replace the felt covering on the roof of my shed in the garden. Both jobs were carried out within budget - and within the time specified in their estimates. As a firm, they are very easy to deal with. No problem in reaching them on either the phone or by e-mail. Surveys and estimates are swiftly arranged and given and dates for work to be carried out are met.

The work involved capping parapets, installing a new valley gutter with a higher gradient, relaying the roof with new tiles and replacing joists where necessary. It was done to the agreed schedule and budget. GWS stood out in that their quote was clear and were very happy to visit and explain any items of work or technical terms. We liked the fact that their was more than one generation in the family business, we dealt with Daniel who supervised the work and Gary who would be there for Daniel to consult as needs be. We were confident they fully understood the issues associated with our roof. Throughout the job they were happy to send us photos and respond to our phone calls asking after progress. We were please with the behaviour of their employees during the job and were impressed with the dedication and care shown by the skilled roofer who must have done all the tricky bits that mean the roof isn't going to leak. There were a couple of contingent items, which were spelt out and quoted for in the quote, regarding the potential support of the gutter and that it may have to be relaid with a higher gradient. We were consulted on these items when the roof was first uncovered, and decisions could be made.

Just wanted to jump on here to say thank you so much to ‘GWS Roofing’ for the extremely efficient and satisfactory work they have just finished on our building. We seem to have had problem after problem with not only the roof but other roofing companies who have either let us down or not spotted other problems which have then led onto other issues. This has been going on for over a year so as you can imagine we were extremely happy when GWS said they could come out to price up the work and get started only the week after the job was looked at. We are based in London so thought there would be huge issues the minute the lockdown started, but GWS went above and beyond to stay in touch with me about how they were going to tackle the issues, by this point the scaffolding was already up but the work had barely even started, I was thrilled to find out they would carry on as normal to finish the job and were super careful and professional in regards to the PPI they used and precautions they took to keep their distance from us and each other. The work was finished before we knew it and couldn’t be happier. Thank you so so much! Will be recommending this company to anyone who needs any roof work and will be using them again if we ever need any help on our other buildings.

GWS have, yet again, saved the day. We returned from Christmas to find our guttering and drainpipes had failed resulting in two rooms being damaged by rain. GWS came and assessed the situation; within a couple of days they had erected a scaffolding tower and by the end of the week the problem was efficiently resolved, saving us from the next bout of heavy rain and high winds. We were recommended to this company through our surveyors and have been very pleased with the way that the work has gone. The team who did the installation work were excellent; they were professional, worked tidily and with awareness of the church location and users of the property. Even one small snag spotted by our surveyor was fixed within 24 hours.

This firm of roofers was a welcome relief from those normally in the trade. From the first estimate to completion of the job each person I encountered was polite, professional and considerate. The job they did was thorough and well done. And they were tidy too.

We had a real and difficult problem with our flat roof and collapsing wooden decking. Joe from GWS came round promptly, amongst other roofers, but he was definitely a cut above the rest. A stepped approach was identified that would deal with the immediate problem and then we could discuss the bigger requirements. Never felt under any pressure to agree anything and we moved seamlessly from addressing the initial problem quickly to working on the decking and maintenance of the main roof. Pricing was fair and all difficult matters were discussed and agreed up front with no additional costs for dealing with the unforeseen. Cannot recommend them too highly.

I first used GWS roofing in 2014 for work to the roof terrace at my old address. The work they carried out was excellent, within time specified, on budget. I was very pleased. Once again I have turned to them for roof-repairs to my new house. Once again they have turned up when they said they would, estimated clearly and transparently, commenced the work on the date specified and carried out excellent work. Throughout, they have been courteous, friendly and completely trustworthy. Because of this they have lots of work. So you may have to wait a while before they can start work. I think it is worth the wait.
