Since 1928 Hadley & Ottaway has been a household name for removals, and in particular removals in Norwich. With 90 years experience, carrying out careful shipping, removals and storage services for some of the most discerning clients. No job is too big or too small for our team of expert removals staff.
At Hadley & Ottaway, everyone cares about your move. Many of the removals and office staff have been with the company for years and really understand just how important it is for removal companies to make sure that everything goes smoothly with your relocation. Our experience means that we can make moving home or office as seamless as possible, relieving you of any stress or worry during the moving period.
Our head office is based in the East Anglia region - this is the centre of operations as there is a dedicated training room, where new recruits and 'old hands' learn to pack delicate porcelain, barometers, grandfather clocks and pianos.

We had a number of changes to the timing of our move (the problem was exchange of contracts only 3 days before completion) but the company moved some resources around to ensure that our move could go ahead. I was most worried about my piano but the team moved everything exactly as they said they would. They were all very personable guys and good to work with. We had a little delay getting the keys to the new house but they were not phased and completed the job to my entire satisfaction. Maybe I could have got the job done cheaper but not to the standard that I received, so worth every penny to me. Thank you Hadley and Ottoway.

Thank you to firstly Caroline for her care and attention and then to two great guys Steve & Jamie for doing our house removal from Norfolk to County Durham. They were terrific. Very quick and organised. Always polite and helpful. Very patient with our problem refectory table! And after the stress, we had previously been put through they took the strain away, and we were very pleased they were able to do our removal. Very efficient and a lovely pair of guys. We moved from Scotland to Norwich, put our belongings in Hadley and Ottaway’s store, and then had everything uplifted into our new home about 7 weeks later. They were a great company to deal with, all the team members we met were friendly and polite, and worked really hard, especially the duo that came to us in Scotland and packed our stuff. A pleasure to have in the house. The staff who do the admin at HQ are super organised and efficient. I certainly recommend getting H&O to do the packing - don’t even think of doing it yourself! It made moving out of our home a really stress-free experience. I couldn’t believe how calm and ordered it was. Possibly you can get a cheaper removal quote from another company, but for service at a time when you really need reliability and dependability, I wouldn’t hesitate to use H&O again.

Before moving house we sought prices from a number of local firms and based on the initial experience of the assessment visit and price, we chose Hadley & Ottaway to move us from Watton to West Norfolk. Hadley & Ottaway were absolutely superb throughout. Pre-move queries were answered promptly and cheerfully and on the morning of our move, the crew arrived at the agreed time. The crew were polite and took good care of our property, working methodically to load the lorry in good time. Unfortunately, there was a delay in receiving our house keys which meant the crew couldn't start to unload until almost 4 pm - but this was dealt with calmly by them as just a part of the job. Not one item was damaged during the move and the crew unloaded every item to exactly where we asked it to be placed. This really was a 1st class service in every way and we are happy to recommend Hadley & Ottaway.

From start to finish the process of moving house with Hadley & Ottaway was a good one. They worked hard with me to accommodate changing dates, a difficult and complicated move and access problems to my new house. The team in the office were excellent and I felt that the quote was fair given the level of service I received. The team of removal guys were without exception just brilliant. Calm, efficient, friendly and careful with everything they handled. I have moved over 20 times in my life and this was one of the most well ordered and efficient moves I have ever had. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Staff from Hadley and Ottaway were with us for 3 days, packing up some of our belongings to go into storage, packing up and then moving us with the rest. From the minute we made contact with Hadley and Ottaway for a quote, to the day they came back to collect empty boxes from our new home the service was outstanding. So professional in everything they do. The lads that were with us for the three days were knowledgeable, professional and fun. The move went so smoothly and made what could have been a stressful few days into a calm and happy experience. Our possessions were treated with respect from the valuable antiques to the cutlery! We have used 3 other Norfolk based removals firms in recent years with a poor experience each time. When the first representative of Hadley & Ottaway came to quote for the work we both felt confident they would do a good job without any damage etc. So when the quote came in at significantly less than some of the others we jumped at the chance to give them a try. They provided loads of boxes and packing for free, the team who helped us move were very polite, friendly and helpful and it all went like clockwork. After we had finished unpacking they even came and collected all the boxes and packing from us as well. We will definetely be using H&O next time we move

I have used this company more than once and always found them courteous, reliable and extremely competent. The office staff are switched on and helpful and the removal men always careful, thoughtful and make light work of what must be an often difficult job. They are friendly, charming and careful, taking note of any special requests. Bringing heavy boxes and furniture to a third floor flat, up numerous stairs, never resulted in grumpy behaviour or carelessness. I hope not to have to move again but if I do this company would be top of my list.

We moved from Somerset to Norfolk and this firm were able to move us without any added stress to a momentous change in our lives. The planning staff were helpful at every stage and were willing to hold payment when a glitch in our date for exchange of contracts slipped by one day. The removal team were hearty, helpful and knowledgeable and could easily be left to get on with the job without being intrusive and did everything to keep us calm and focused. As we moved halfway across the country of a Friday, the firm kept all of our house contents securely at their base over the weekend and delivered it all safely on the Monday.

The company moved all of our home effects including our hot tub. The customer service from our initial contact through to the end of the move was friendly helpful and efficient. We had other quotes but the quote received from Hadley and Ottaway stood out as best value for money. The team arrived early and assessed the move immediately; they were very professional and courteous; nothing was too much trouble and they worked very hard to complete the loading of effects the same day allowing us to get an early start for our long journey. They even collected our Hot Tub from storage on the way. The delivery of all effects was concluded in a few hours with no damage to any items; they even sited the Hot Tub exactly where we wanted it. I highly recommend this company and would definitely use them if we move again.

Move from the North of England to East Anglia was made very simple by the team. From the initial video call from Darren and the invoicing and emails from Kerrie and Anna everything was nice and easy and they were very understanding at all times. Jay and Steve who moved us over 3 days were friendly, helpful and very hard working and totally respectful of our property. This company is great. From the outset with Chris providing the costs and the planning, to the girls in the office and Graham and the team doing the packing and moving, everything went like clockwork. Nothing broken, nothing missing, heavy oak furniture managed with seeming ease. Everyone was so helpful and polite and the costs were very fair. I cannot recommend Hadley & Ottaway enough if you are thinking of moving! Everyone was extremely professional, from arranging to come and assess the furniture I had before giving me a quote to the administrative team to the incredible movers who actually did our move. It was a freezing cold day, but from the moment they arrived, Bob and Chris, were friendly and showed their consideration for our belongings like it was their own. They happily answered any questions I had, as well as disassembled and re-assembled several of our furniture perfectly, which I was very impressed by! They also double checked with us where we wanted the furniture positioned in the new property and whether we wanted them to make any changes before they left. Amazing professionals all around!

From initial contact, professional. Came to my home and assessed what would be required, followed by a quote. My move was quite complex as involved a long haul including a lengthy ferry journey. Crew that arrived to pack the removal truck, even with the early hour, were cheerful. Whole house was loaded within three hours. The next time I saw them was at Oban Ferry terminal, the following day. The following morning they arrived at my new house and delivered all my belongings. At all times they were courteous and well presented. Would recommend this company to anyone moving home.
