Ken and Lee did a thorough job on the windows, replacing rotted wood, draught proofing, balancing sash weights and easing jamming windows. They also did some mortar repairs at the edge of the windows. In addition they fitted hooks and supplied poles and cords to enable us to open windows hard to reach directly. Lee returned recently to readjust two windows that had started jamming after prolonged wet weather.

Lee and Ken did a fantastic job. They are very tidy and efficient and also just really nice people. I'm so happy we had our windows restored. Even though they are original single glazed sashes they now close as smoothly and effortlessly as a modern window and the noise reduction is really noticeable. We had them overhauled and draught proofed so I was surprised at how different they now feel and sound. I highly recommend HCM and I'm very glad we didn't rip out and replace.

I was delighted to find a company who would actually repair our wooden windows instead of telling us to replace them. What more Ken could replace the 1971 width of double glazing with a much wider gap between the two panes to improve the insulation of the house. Mary was extremely helpful and willing to investigate all options for us, advising us throughout of the likely timescale etc. When work started Ken and his "Superman" Lee were faultless. They were quiet and tidy but always willing to explain what they were doing and full of interesting information. Nothing was too much trouble. In fact half way through the job Ken learnt that a leaking gutter had rotted the lower part of a rafter. He immediately offered to replace it for us and to fix the whole problem! Which he did in a craftsman like manner. Thank you Ken.

From start to finish this was a professional service. Measurements were taken and we were guided through the process expertly by Mary. One thing to remember is that these things take a little time, these are bespoke wooden windows not off the shelf plastic ones'. I can't fault the service that we received and Lee fitted the windows with care and precision once they had been manufactured in Bristol. Our home now has the windows that it deserves and we are more than happy with the service from HCM.

We had already been told that our sash windows were very unusual; Ken had not seen any like it before but he and his colleague did a beautiful and very painstaking job of restoring them from their really rather dilapidated state, matching original fixings. They both clearly took pride in their work and were intrigued to deal with our oddities! We were given a firm quote and although we waited a little while for the work to start, it was very well worth the wait. They were considerate around the house and apart from the noise of power tools, we would not have known that they were in the building. Our Edwardian sash windows were in a terrible state - broken sashes, painted shut, rotting wood, cracked pains. Ken renovated all 10 to a very high standard in only 2 weeks. He is a wonderful friendly tradesman and very easy to accommodate. Ken is a proper craftsman and really knows his trade. He renovated two Victorian sash windows for us so that they no longer squeak, are less drafty, replaced cords so that they now work as they should, plus renovated a window that had been painted shut for 20+ years. We moved into our Grade II listed farmhouse 4 years ago and have always known that the wood casement windows would one day require attention. We struggled to find anyone interested in coming out to quote for refurbishment work...instead we had lots of "salesman" telling us that the windows were "shot" and we would just have to apply for planning so that we could have some new ones. Nothing is to much trouble and nothing appears to worry him...our windows were so bad that we thought one of them was so rotten it would soon fall out...Ken spliced some new oak and made a windowsill and then repainted...our windows look great and are still in keeping with the Grade II property.

We are extremely pleased with the work Ken carried out to a number of our sash windows. Previously these had been draughty, jammed or difficult to operate. Ken worked methodically to free up, re-balance and where necessary repair the sashes, cords, and frames and refit with draught excluding beading. The results are first-class; sashes that move easily and that are rattle and draughtproof. Ken was punctual, reliable and always left the work area clean and tidy at the end of the day. Ken at HCM produces superb work. We had two upstairs sash windows replaced in a dental surgery. The difference in the room is remarkable. We have gone from having to use continuous heating to almost never (in winter) and a chronic condensation problem has been fixed completely. The windows seal and slide easily.
