Heron Carpentry Limited

We have just had a new kitchen installed by Gerry Heron and are absolutely delighted with the finished result. From the first visit until completion today Gerry has been a total professional, as well as a really talented and nice guy. He’s kept us informed at every step of progress and what will be happening. He undertook the removal of the old kitchen and arranged for removal of all the rubbish. His joinery and building skills are excellent, there were a number of issues to deal with but these didn’t phase him and he just got on and dealt with them all. Gerry arrived every morning on time and always did a full days work, no slacking of mid-afternoon for him. He’s courteously and polite and always treated our property with respect. I recommend Heron Carpentry wholeheartedly and will use him again for any building works.

We needed extensive plumbing work to be done, but before that could take place our bathroom cupboard had to be partly dismantled so the plumbers could gain access to pipes, electrics and hot water cylinder. We needed a skilled carpenter to take down the large floor-to-ceiling cupboard and then to restore it after completion of the plumbing work, with as little as possible visible evidence of damage to the cupboard. Gerry performed the work efficiently and to a high standard, making the necessary adjustments to shelving in order to accommodate the new plumbing. There were quite a few delays with the plumbing work, which Gerry had to work round. This included him making an additional visit but he coped with the unforeseen disruptions, staying in touch with us during the project. He did all this with good grace at no additional charge. We thought his initial quote was fair even before he put in the extra work. As he was leaving he even voluntarily gave some attention to (and improved!) our front door which was sticking! We should be happy to use Gerry’s services again.

Gerry completed several major projects for our new house, and the level of craftsmanship throughout is excellent. His joinery work, including the built-in alcove shelving, under the stairs storage and custom banquette seating, is precise, sturdy, and well integrated. On top of the carpentry, Gerry also installed our new downstairs loo. From the tiling and brass fittings to the plumbing and vanity unit, the finish is beautiful. He is very versatile and was always very happy to help with extra requests and odd jobs around the house as work progressed. Gerry was transparent and stuck to his original quote. He only charged extra for additional scope that we requested along the way. There were no hidden costs or surprises, and the quality of work provides outstanding value. Gerry is also incredibly hard-working, punctual, and keeps the workspace clean and organised. He was a pleasure to have around the house and played nicely with our children, which made managing a renovation with a family much easier.

Gerry quoted to install some wood panelling for me on my bedroom walls. He came to do the work whilst I was at work. When I got home, there were a couple of points I was not happy about. I called Gerry and he came back the next day to fix it, no questions asked. I then spotted some small markings on the wood and Gerry offered, without me having to ask, to get someone to come round (at his own cost) to remedy this. I can honestly say that it is refreshing to deal with someone who is honest and helpful. I will definitely be using Gerry again (if he will work for me!!)

Gerry was recommended to us by a neighbour and we are delighted with his approach and workmanship. We had our old kitchen removed and a new kitchen installed by Gerry. Gerry’s work was excellent. He communicated with us to check things when needed and was incredibly helpful with our questions and queries. At the end of each day, he told us the time he would arrive the next day, which was helpful for us. He communicated with us when the plasterer would arrive and all preparation was done prior to his arrival. Gerry communicated with us about the direction of cupboard doors opening to make sure we were happy with them. Our kitchen was installed and completed to the budget. There was a minor issue with the new integrated fridge and he came back the next day to explore options with us and for another minor snag he came back the evening of the same day and fixed it. We very much appreciated his prompt response. We are absolutely delighted with the finished kitchen. The bespoke cover for the bottom of the boiler fits perfectly. All lines are smooth and a sleek finish. His coordination with our electrician went really smoothly. Gerry put our window blind back up for us too. He controlled dust as much as he could. At the end of every day, he cleared away and swept up. We would whole heartedly recommend Gerry.

The quality of work was excellent and the job came in on budget. This was the second time we have used Heron Carpentry, the first project being a new bathroom which we were also very pleased with. The work was completed to a high standard and Gerry communicated efficiently with us. Our experience was that work commenced promptly and the house was left tidy. We would recommend Heron Carpentry.

Gerry did an excellent job on our kitchen and bathroom. He clearly takes pride in his work and really cares about the end result. We had to make a small layout change in the bathroom due to the location of our joists, and he took the time to talk it through and problem-solve to make sure we were happy with the change. He worked really hard, e.g. staying late to make sure we had a working toilet for the weekend, and he was flexible working around our kitchen worktop installation to come back and connect the tap. It was easy to talk through any small snags at the end. He’s also a lovely guy to have around the house, which really helps with lengthy works like these!

Gerry built in custom shelving in our bedroom, helping us to reimagine two recessed areas of wasted space into beautiful, functional storage areas. These floor-to-ceiling open shelves frame our headboard and they are outlined by recessed LED strip lighting. The overall effect is Wow! Has transformed our bedroom into a beautiful room, great marriage of form and function. Could not be happier with the result, so glad we have found such a competent carpenter/builder. Have used Heron Carpentry for a couple of past projects, and the result is consistently high quality work.

Gerry did a great job stripping out our old bathroom and installing the new one. He was very helpful from the very beginning, providing expert advice on which items to order and recommending a shower setup that was perfectly suited to the size of our room. I really appreciated his attention to detail. For instance, he identified and fixed an issue with our existing fan outlet that we hadn't noticed. He also managed to fit the shower tray flush without needing to elevate it on legs, something many other contractors insisted was impossible when providing quotes. The tilers Gerry organised did a brilliant job as well. Their recommendations were solid, and they were a pleasure to work with. Additionally, the rubbish removal he arranged was handled quickly and efficiently. The project started and finished exactly on time, and there were no surprises or hidden costs. The entire process was completely hassle-free, and I highly recommend Heron Carpentry to anyone.

Gerry built some understairs storage for us - he did a great job, worked very quickly and tidied away at the end of the day which was much appreciated. He was also super flexible when I had to change the date at short notice due to a water leak. Highly recommended and will be using him again in the future.

Heron Carpentry stripped out our existing bathroom and refitted. The work was completed to schedule and any budget increases were discussed with us and agreed prior to action. Gerry from Heron Carpentry was very polite and personable and always answered calls and questions promptly regarding the job. He worked with us to ensure we were delighted with the outcome of the refitting. The bathroom although small was finished to a high standard of workmanship. He provided a few extras to complement the standard of finish for a stylish and modern bathroom. Heron Carpentry is highly recommended.

I’m delighted with the installation of my new bathroom recently completed by Gerry. This is the the third time I have used Gerry’s expert services, which previously included fitting a new kitchen. Though a skilled carpenter, Gerry can also easily deal with plumbing and electrical jobs while collaborating with other traders when needed. I’m impressed with Gerry’s ability to solve problems as well as his good communication skills and sense of humour. The work was finished to a high standard and according to schedule. He also left the place clean and tidy at the end of each working day. It’s a pleasure to have Gerry working at my home. I will be using his services again and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to others.

We used Gerry after he fitted an amazing kitchen and bathroom for our son. We needed a bespoke serving counter for our new coffee shop and Gerry did an amazing job for us, the quality of the work and materials used was first class. Would highly recommend him.

I am very satisfied with the service received from Heron Carpentry Limited from start to finish. The work commenced on the agreed date and stayed within the agreed budget. Communication throughout the service was excellent. My expectations of the service and quality of the workmanship was met completely. There arose an unexpected problem with the kitchen once the old cabinets were removed which had the potential to spoil the look of the kitchen on completion. However, Gerry resolved the problem, adding additional structures and thereby ensuring the kitchen was completed to my satisfaction. No cost was added for this additional work. I am confident aftercare will continue.

Heron Carpentry have just completed the installation of my new kitchen they have done a great job from start to finish. From the first meeting Heron Carpentry have been concise and clear on charges and what work needs to be done and when. They set expectations and delivered on their promises. The clear and concise initial pricing and then the transparency of extra work that was required was a breath of fresh air compared to other trades I had engaged. They managed the kitchen supplier and worked together with the worktop fitters to complete a stunning kitchen. I would recommend this company for fitting kitchens.

We are still discovering issues with the fitting of our kitchen and utility, months after Heron Carpentry left. Poor cuts/drilling, alignment issues, corner posts incorrectly fitted with units overlapping, holes drilled in the wrong place on our new fridge door, doors put on the wrong way around, poorly fitted sinks with packers left on show, damaged units and panels. See photographs on Google reviews (under ‘Heroes Carpentry’). I have spent a considerable amount of time and money trying to correct some of the above. Many of these issues were discussed with Gerry at the time and he did cover the cost of replacing three doors that were put on the wrong way. We didn’t ask Heron Carpentry back to complete the remaining work quoted for. I don’t like posting negative reviews but we have been so disappointed with the quality of workmanship and relied on the 5 star reviews when choosing Heron Carpentry.

Gerry recently did two jobs for us - built in desks for our office and a new utility room with floor to ceiling built in cupboards, toilet and sink. We would highly reccomend Gerry. His carpentry skills are fantastic and we are very happy with both completed jobs. He is trustworthy, a good timekeeper and always open to discussing the job at any point. We have used him the past and would use him again in the future. Thanks Gerry!

Gerry was recommended to me by a neighbour, I had been to her house and was very impressed by his carpentry work. I contacted him about doing my bathroom. He was very friendly, polite, approachable and professional. He was very realistic about his availability and what was involved in a new bathroom. I called him several times for advice and questions and he always took my calls, was very helpful and patient with me. Once the installation date was agreed, Gerry was very clear on what happened on each day and who was involved in the project. I was very impressed with his timekeeping, quality of his work and his work ethos. All the workers he brought in ie tiler, electrician, plasterer etc arrived on time and completed their jobs on time and to a high standard. I observed that Gerry had a very personable with all other traders that he brought in and they all really respected him. He was also very flexible when I brought in my own floor fitter. He flexed and adjusted the quote accordingly. When the job was completed, I was over the moon and very happy with my new bathroom. The job was finished on time. I was so happy with my new bathroom, that I got Gerry to do the bathroom in my mum's maisonette as he had a window in his busy calendar and I grabbed it. Thank you to Gerry for making my dream come true and making me a beautiful new bathroom, and a extra special thank you from my mum (fellow Scot) for her beautiful bathroom too! I have booked Gerry for my Kitchen project too :-)

Gerry built beutiful fitted wardrobes for my new bedroom and completed other building works, including insulating an external wall. Initially, I chose Gerry for his good communication skills and his competitive quote. On first impression, I thought he was someone I could trust and talk with. He gave me valualbe advice but also listened to my needs. Adjustments made along the way did not pose problems. The work was completed according to schedule. Gerry is clearly an experienced and skilled craftsman. Most importantly, he was a pleasure to have working in my home. I will be using his services again and I would heartily recommend him to others.

Gerry built custom bookshelves and a media unit for us that we're thrilled with, at a very reasonable and competitive price. He was able to start quickly on the project, turned it around in great time, and was happy to make any adjustments along the way as we needed or requested. A really friendly guy and very easy to work with, and he delivered exactly what we envisioned with top quality. Bonus points for how much he tidied up everything afterwards - not many workers leave with the place as clean as they arrived but Gerry did! Highly recommended!

I found Gerry Heron through Trustedtraders as I needed a door replaced that had fallen off a worn door jam. It was a challenging job, but Gerry came up with a great solution. At the same time I discussed with him the idea of installing a kitchen island to add storage and an extra worktop. No problem, he said, and came up with a plan, reasonable estimate and work schedule. Bottom line — he did a great job on both, and I love the island. He works to schedule, no faffing about, and bonus - he has a wonderful sense of humour. He is definitely top of the list for doing more jobs in future.

Heron Carpentry was recommended by a close friend. All communication was with ease and very straightforward, nothing was complicated. I had experienced water damage in my property from a flat above. Heron Carpentry repaired damage to my bathroom and kitchen. This included replacing grout, sealant, plasterboard, all making good including painting. I felt very comfortable and confident with Heron Carpentry and in safe hands. A quotation was provided and the invoice followed. The finished result was very satisfactory and I would strongly recommend them. Having experienced a stressful time, previously with workmen and the stress of water ingress into my property, it was much appreciated relying on a company who understood my concerns, knew my requirements and followed through with a professional job.

Gerry was a pleasure to work with. We needed a bespoke cupboard fitted to hide our boiler and he came over to assess what we wanted and gave great advice. He was communicative, helpful, efficient and produced great work. I wouldn't hesitate to book him again for another carpentry job.

Gerry has done two jobs for us - both completed above our expectations. The first job was renovating a section of waney wooden cladding on the front of our house which had rotted over time. Gerry sourced and fitted the replacement cladding which now blends in perfectly with the original cladding. Gerry also designed and fitted a new corner walk-in corner pantry cupboard which looks as though it was always a part of our existing shaker style kitchen. Gerry is friendly, tidy, punctual and works hard to get things done in the time he has planned. Gerry is clearly an expert carpenter and I highly recommend him.

Gerry provided a very high quality, professional service throughout his time with us. He was commissioned to build a storage unit and shelves which span the length of our living room, as well as a fire place and chimney feature which house our TV. The job was technically challenging and required a fair amount of problem solving. Gerry successfully delivered both pieces of carpentry work to a very high standard and on time. He clearly understands cabinetry making extremely well. Gerry was easy to work with, he communicated well and co-ordinated the plasterer and decorator we needed himself. I would thoroughly recommend Gerry, and Heron Carpentry.
