Central heating problems

Despite having our boiler replaced by British Gas several years ago, our central heating system was getting progressively worse, and although British Gas service our system every year, they never really did much about it sorting out the problem. So we contacted House Doctors and David agreed to power flush our system. David was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of advice, and although our system was extremely clogged up (one of the worst David had seen) our central heating is now so much better. Some of our radiators hadn't been warm for years, and now they are all performing well! We would have no hesitation in recommending David and House Doctors!

Door hinge repairs

Thorough and tidy job. Came in on quote (no hidden extras). Large door with three hinges, top one completely broken and middle one wobbly. Advised given size of door, best to replace existing hinges and add a fourth hinge. Additional hinge to top of door which takes majority of weight. Very good job, very happy with outcome. Clearly very knowledgeable and obvious they don’t cut any corners. Very professional workmanship. Thank you.

Repairs to 3 windows and replacement double glazing to 4 others

Very pleased I contacted David for several window repairs and glass replacements. He came out next day to the urgent one - a window I couldn't open or shut, and contacted me promptly to arrange the work on the others. The work was carried out in a professional and competent way - he was very knowledgeable and took care to explain everything. Price was very reasonable and quotes were emailed beforehand with full details. So glad I discovered him as good workmen are hard to come by! Will certainly use him again for any window and door repairs and recommend him to friends.

PVC double glazed window problem

I had a PVC window that was stuck on the latch so would neither close or open. When I ‘phoned David he was very helpful, even giving me some advice on what I could do which might resolve the problem. I opted for him to call to fix things. Some days later David phoned me to make arrangements to call the next day. When he arrived he identified and fixed the problem without fuss. He was very friendly and professional. Payment was made easy by way of a portable card reader. I would have no hesitation in recommending David.

New Hot Water System

Having put up with low-pressure hot water for many years, David replaced the old system with a pressurised cylinder which has made a world of difference. I don't have to wait for ages for hot water to come out of my taps and my shower is as good as you find in hotels. While replacing the cylinder, David suggested I also pressurise my heating system, doing away with the open-air expansion tank. The cost for all the work was less than other quotes and for a larger cylinder. David patiently explained the benefit of his recommended changes but I never felt pressured to accept the changes. He is thorough in his work and comes when agreed. I would have no hesitation in recommending him.

Failing system rescued

To prepare for winter I wanted a power flush to a central heating system well over 30 years old, upgraded with a new boiler and thermostatic valves 10 years ago, but now known to be sludged up. In fact we found the system was on its last legs. David flushed the system and each individual radiator, working methodically to deal with various problems which showed up: un-sticking radiator valves and replacing a faulty one, clearing blockages, soldering a new radiator joint, replacing isolating valves which didn't work properly, getting a three port valve to work again and replacing a failing pump, as well as contacting the boiler manufacturer because despite annual servicing by British Gas it appeared to have overheated. Unusually high amounts of sludge and scale were removed. Six months on, the system remains fault free, the radiators have no cold spots, the pump is quieter, and the boiler provides the same heat on lower settings. A bigger job than either of us expected, but well worth it.

Dave came to do a powerflush at our house however the customer service began before that as he called to discuss the initial enquiry to make sure what I was asking for was the correct solution to the problem. Quick responses to enquiries and prompt booking. When he came round he was very considerate given the current COVID guidelines. Very knowledgeable, good at explaining the work required and helpful giving tips on post work maintenance
