As the owner I have been plastering for over 20 years and endeavour to always do our best to be as passionate about your project as you are. On the initial visit Ian took time to explain the options and what he'd recommend He ensured the floor and window blind were thoroughly protected before starting and completely cleared up when the job was finished. The plastering was simply amazing, a perfect finish which we hadn't thought possible given the state of the walls beforehand The work was completed to time We would recommend Ian wholeheartedly.

The reviews on the website for Ian are glowing and I am very pleased to report that he lived up to the fantastic reviews. Ian’s communication is great - quick to respond, keep you completely in the loop and updated, clearly lays out what the work involves and costs. Ian is very skilled at what he does and clearly prides himself on doing a great job; I was very happy with all the work carried out and the builders I had on-site commented on how great the finish was. Ian repaired the render on our property and then repainted the entire house. He provided clear quotes and time frames, and was excellent at communicating with us before and during the work. He sorted out the scaffolding needed and resolved a change in the scaffolders' invoice compared to their initial quote, for which we were very grateful. The finished job is excellent. We will be using him again.

We chose IJW Plastering Services based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews on Which? Trusted Traders, and we couldn’t be happier with the quality of his work. Ian applied bonding and 2 coats of skim to an old artex ceiling and 3 walls in an open-plan kitchen / lounge diner. The job was completed in under 2 days and the finish is excellent, even in the corners and around sockets & switches. Ian came to give a quote within a couple of days of the initial inquiry and started the job just over a week later. He kept us informed throughout, arrived on time each day, worked incredibly hard and gave us helpful advice on managing the drying process. We will definitely use Ian again when we next need any plastering, and would happily recommend him to others.

Ian skimmed 4 ceilings for us. He worked really hard for 2 very full days with his apprentice to get them all done. The work looks great and we are extremely pleased with it. Ian was incredibly helpful answering all my questions beforehand, and we were very impressed with how clean and tidy our house was at the end. We would definitely highly recommend Ian and would like him to do any more plastering work we have!

A good job repairing the render and painting the front of the house

We have a 1920s house with 3 floors. There were some areas of blown render on the front of the house which were causing problems and in dealing with this Ian also discovered a rotten lintel. I was impressed with the way he approached the extra challenge. Ian and his assistants then painted it by hand, which I think gave a much smarter appearance and better protection than spray painting. He was helpful, knowledgeable and communicated well. Despite the awful weather he managed to get the job done. When the scaffolders removed the scaffolding a few weeks later we discovered a few roof tiles on the lower roof had been broken. It looked as if the scaffolding might have been resting on it at that point. He followed it up promptly and sorted it quickly. I was very pleased with his approach and his work.

Final external render job looked great, but: 1. Informed me of re-schedule 4 weeks before job started so he could take last minute 2 week holiday. I had re reschedule the scaffolder and painter at short notice, not easy. 2. Wanted me to arrange scaffolding for render, but when he turned up it hadn’t been done correctly and there was a heated stand-off with the senior scaffolder. 3. Didn’t cover our cast iron down pipe so chipped render and then fresh render went down and blocked. Professional drains people unable to unblock so we are facing a £1,400 (lower of two quotes) replace bill. Would have shrugged off #1 and #2, but have to share #3.

Ian has done an amazing job with the least possible disruption - he's very nice and friendly and I am very happy and will definitely be using his services again in the near future as I progress from room to room in the house. This is the 4th time I have used Ian and I shall be using him again. Ian arrived on time and set about correcting a wall that was bowed, levelling it up flat with a bonding coat. The wall was a mess before he arrived with large gaps and tile adhesive having ruined the old plaster work. Ian sorted all if this out leaving all of it perfectly plastered. He is very quick and professional and I have him booked in for the hallway, landing and stairs soon. I can't recommend him highly enough. Thanks Ian!

Really great work from Ian. Turned up when he said he would, charged what he quoted and the work was very good. My kitchen fitter was impressed and he knows a lot more about plastering than I do! Ian was genuinely a pleasure to have in the house. He always turned up when he said he was going to, his workmanship is great, and was very clean and tidy. We are completing a loft conversion, so Ian plastered the underside of the new staircase which was no easy feat! It was high and full of weird angles and curves. Ian has just now left and it’s so smooth and looks amazing. Really a feature point on the total works completed!

Work required on dinning room included cutting away rain damaged ceiling, replacing insulation and plasterboard, skimming for papering. Repairing and plastering one wall. Arranging for ceiling to be papered. Painting the walls, ceiling and woodwork. Bedroom required removal of wall paper, and walls to be skimmed, followed by painting the walls, ceiling and woodwork. I was very pleased with the result in both rooms. Ian arrived on time, worked hard, completed on schedule and within budget. All carried out to a high professional standard, I would certainly recommend him for similar work.

I was recommended to Ian by my architect and am so pleased I was. I had various plastering jobs required in my 400 year old property and Ian was able to deal with them all in a very timely manner and to a really professional standard. We had a very damp wall in our period cottage that needed replastering. Ian quoted for this and was able to do the work only a week or so after our first contact. Behind the old plaster was an unexpected find - an old stone wall in good condition, so we changed our plans to expose it. Ian and his assistant dealt with all the surprises associated with an old house brilliantly, with just the right balance of flexibility, sensitivity and pragmatism. The budget and schedule were exactly as planned. Ian's communication was exceptionally good, he responded quickly and helpfully to all queries. He was also very helpful in moving some of our stuff around and covering it with dust sheets. We are very pleased with the result.

Having had multiple challenges with other tradespeople during the build of our fairly significant outside garden room and workshop, Ian was an absolute pleasure. He did the outside rendering to a very high standard even with some very awkward access in areas and also did a very fine job of the internal plastering. The main take-home for us though was not just the quality of his work but that he always turned up when expected and did exactly what he said he would. Seemingly a relative rarity these days. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend his services, he's also a very nice guy to boot.
