James came to assess damage on the same day roof was damaged and kept me informed when work could start despite heavy rain preventing it. Quote kept to exactly , courteous and informative. I recommend.

We've used James several times over the years, on a wide variety of projects and he always produces excellent quality work. His building knowledge is exceptional and the solutions he offers are practical and cost effective, he's become our go to builder and one we recommend to friends and neighbours. The work this time involved re-building a 20 meter retaining wall, with a maximum height of just under 2 meters, a substantial project. The previous wall, built in timber by the previous house owner was inadequate for the important structural job it was supposed to do. The wall was slowly rotting and was in danger of collapsing. We had lengthy discussions with James about how to tackle the problem and ultimately, we settled on a gabion basket stone wall, which not only solves the structural problem but aesthetically is infinitely better than the previous wall. James and his team worked diligently to make sure the wall was built quickly and with as little risk as possible that the land behind it could collapse, as they dug out the old wall and build the new wall in sections. James is also a very considerate builder and very conscious of the noise and effects on our neighbours. Consequently, our neighbours were also very complimentary about his work but also his efforts to keep noise to a minimum. We have no problems in recommending James to anyone and he remains first on our list for future projects around our home.

James has completed multiple projects for us in the past and we have been exceptionally pleased with the quality of his work and customer service. He was very prompt in responding to our initial query and provided detailed quotes for us. Once started we were updated daily on the progress and the plans for the remaining days. James is very considerate of the impact on clients when working. On this job he not only repaired the brickwork/edge of the roof on the porch but also replaced supporting pillars and reset the floor tiling, taking great care to find matching bricks and tiles that we were happy with.

If you are looking for lead work repair or new lead installations, on a house, listed building, church or heritage building, then there is only one person you should contact. It is great to see that traditional skills are still alive and this is not work that can be entrusted to any builder or roofer. James is clearly passionate about his work and the detail, ensuring that every job is completed to his standard. When it comes to investing in lead work that you want to last, then it is worth paying for it to be completed properly.

James Knott was asked to quote for the construction of a 26' steel bridge to connect the first floor of a building to a raised garden. James hired a professional structural surveyor to ensure that the associated grounds, walls, subsoil etc. were suitable for the plans drawn up, which included the bridge, side rails, supports and concrete bases. Also installed was decking for more than 16sqm., which required reinforcement and remedial work to the area and steel 'balcony' rails. All the work was carried out to our complete satisfaction, and we have no reservations in highly recommending him.

From the first visit to the quotation and completion of the work, James was thoroughly professional. The job was completed on time as per quotation to a high standard. It was a pleasure to have James on-site and everything was left very neat and tidy. Would definitely recommend it.

James was able to fit a bird exclusion kit to the 16 solar panels on our detached house roof. The work involved planning and installing this kit. James had to work from all 4 sides of the house to access the panels and he carried this work out efficiently and safely. We have used James previously and so when we found that birds were attempting to nest under the panels we knew who to contact to help us. Work was carried out to the agreed quoted price.
