About
Switch Green Electrical is a Forest Hill based domestic electrical company run by Joel Buckwell. Switch Green Electrical specialises in small electrical tasks, consumer unit replacements and electrical repairs. Joel first became an electrician in 2003 and has been a sole trader since 2011. He runs his business on honesty and reliability. All work undertaken is carried out to the latest BS7671 standards.
'All Hands and Hearts' are a non profit volunteer based organisation that helps rebuild and improve areas in the aftermath of a natural disaster anywhere in the world. Joel has first hand experience working for them as a volunteer in Nepal, Peru and offers them electrical advice & guidance to keep their projects and volunteers safe.
The value of the redundant and excess cable collected from jobs undertaken is donated to All Hands And Hearts. Redundant cable usually gets thrown in the skip but here it is scrapped, recycled and the cash is donated to help disaster struck communities get rebuilt

Joel carried out a range of electrical tasks of varied complexity (new features, replacing items, improving safety and sorting out a disorganised system) over 5 days with skill and professionalism. He is personable, hardworking, methodical and helpful, eg advising an external light fitting we were to buy wasn’t suitable. We are delighted to have a safer installation which meets current regulations as well as some super new light fittings.

I needed an electrician to check and fix the electrics of the house I had recently moved in to. I found Joel through Which Trusted Traders - and I’m really happy he agreed to take on the job! From the very beginning, Joel was reliable, responsive and super clear about how long the work would take and how much it would cost. In the end, he had to make a few visits as there were several problems with the electrical installation of the house. He explained clearly what he would do in each visit and he was always on time. He also made sure everything was clean and in good working order after every visit. Finally, he didn’t send an invoice until all the work had been completed and the electrics had been signed off, which I really appreciated.

I contact Switch Green Electrical when I needed power running out to a new garden shed and the installation of lights and power sockets. After a quick initial phone call, Joel popped over to take a look at the situation and arranged a time to return to complete the work. The job took a day and the quality of the work was excellent, with the cables neatly routed and lights and fixtures sensibly positioned and well secured. I'm very pleased! One thing to note is that Joel is - quite rightly - very busy so there's a wait time of a few weeks before getting a job done. He's well worth the wait though!

Joel just installed a new consumer unit and a continuous flow extractor fan for us, as well as replacing some lighting units around the house which were not up to current safety standards. Joel could not have been more helpful and all work was carried out very efficiently and without any mess. Although more work was needed than we had initially identified, Joel completed all jobs to the agreed timescale. We felt that Joel had all the skills we needed and a real commitment to high-quality work. We would not hesitate to recommend him.

Joel was professional and helpful from coming round to provide a quote and advice, to completing the work. He installed a new supply to the kitchen for an oven, tidied up some previous less than ideal wiring in the kitchen and upgraded the ceiling halogens to LED. All the work was completed as agreed at a reasonable price.

Joel did a great job of wiring in our new garden building. We chose Joel because he provided a full breakdown of costs before starting the work, the quote was competitive, and he is very professional and a nice person to boot! It was essential that we found someone that was reliable and would be on site when the building installers arrived. Despite the compressed time scales, this couldn't have gone better and Joel was punctual and worked alongside the installers with no problems at all. The quality of the finish is great and it's a really tidy job. Joel found a few issues with our existing circuits and fixed those too. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Joel and we will definitely be using again. Thank you!

First time I used Switch Green Electrical and extremely glad I did. Joel replaced 16 recessed downlights for LED's, replaced an extractor fan and fit a spur to enable the relocation of a tumble dryer. His work and finish is excellent. Everything was within the agreed budget and the work was completed well within schedule. During the initial consultation Joel was very helpful in advising us on the best way to run an additional spur to ensure that the work was not only safe but, aesthetically pleasing, even though it potentially meant extra work for him to avoid using trunking and with minimal disruption. We found Joel to be very polite, friendly and trustworthy. We will definitely use his service again for our electrics.

Joel did a spectacular job doing the electrics for my kitchen renovation, putting in spotlights, adding new plug sockets throughout the flat, and replacing my switchboard. Joel’s work was of a very high standard and also a reasonable price! He offered lots of advice and explained to me what was necessary at all stages. Joel was very flexible and happy to work around my renovation schedule, and worked well with my other tradespeople. He was polite, professional, honest, trustworthy, super friendly, and genuinely a lovely guy. He also recommended my kitchen fitter who turned out to be superb! I can’t recommend Joel enough and definitely won’t be using anyone else in the future. I’ve already recommend him to my friends who are hoping to move to the area.

Joel was great. Showed up within a couple of days to give me the quote, really spent the time understanding the work I wanted done, and helped me understand that one particular job would have been just way too complicated to try and pull off. I had to chase to get the quotation (not the end of the world), but we set a date and Joel stuck to it, and arrived bang on time. Work was completed quickly, he was very considerate of me working from home when he needed to turn off sockets etc. Great guy all round. Be warned though, he doesn't drink tea. It's a bit weird, but just go with it.

Joel changed the fuse box, rewired all existing sockets, added new sockets, fitted dimmer switches, fitted new lights across the flat (recessed and hanging), fitted under cupboard LEDs and new smoke alarms. Everything he has done is great and as I asked (and more as we went on). He worked really well alongside the other contractors in the flat and was always super friendly. I couldn't recommend him enough and will not be using anyone else for any future work.
